I just updated my phone to 16.3 so hopefully my AirPods Pro gen 2 get the new update 5B59 and fix the battery drain. I thought though they didn’t release an update for the gen 2? Or have they now released it.With the new 5B59 Firmware update my Airpods Pro Case doesn't drain anymore. Before that it used to lose up to 15% battery while not using them for a day. Now the case is still 73% as it was 48hrs ago.
I have the first gen Airpods Pros, but I don't think they released it for the 2nd gen yet. Here you can see the newest firmwares for all the Airpods devices. Apple still haven’t released the firmware update 5B59 for APP2. You should still update your IOS for security fixes. You can check the link below for updates.Updating my iOS to 16.3. Hoping my APP 2nd gen gets the 5B59 update.
Based on the Apple site, 5859 is currently only available for 2nd and 3rd gen AirPods.
How is the battery drain on your new pair of APP2s?Hi all, I thought I would provide a summary update. Some weeks ago I contacted Apple support. They escalated my concerns to senior advisors and a lot of back and forth scheduled tele calls were ongoing where I provided screen shots of the battery drain over a 24, 48 and 72 hours and where the battery erratically drained more than specified by apples acceptance Levels. They also collected log files from my phone during this period to investigate the issues (Includes the AirPods log files). Senior technicians have been working on the data collected. I am now being sent a new APP2 (and will monitor the battery of course) and will be sending my current APP2 to them for further investigations. I hope they will be able to find the issue whether it be hardware or software and provide a fix or recall. I also note there is still no firmware update for the APP2.
To be honest I haven’t had time to monitor them After receiving them Tuesday this week. When I have checked the battery has seemed okay one minute and not the next So I will need to spend a day or two checking and report back. Still no update on firmware which is puzzling. How is the battery drain on your new pair of APP2s?
Update- after watching the battery over the last few days I can now confirm that i No longer have severe battery drain. For example last night at 10:20pm I had 85% battery on the case. Now at 24hrs later I will am at 83% battery. I am still on firmware 5B58. Therefore, maybe a newer batch does not have the issues with battery drain.Okay quick update. AirPods charged to 100%, case at 84% @ Friday night 10:30pm. Today Saturday 12:30 (14hrs later) with no use AirPods at 100% and case at 83%. This is more like what I think we all expect, but it’s early days and more testing needs to be done but so far positive. Make of it what you will. Not sure if this is an indicator with some having different parts that might cause the battery drain issue and could still be firmware/hardware, supply on internal parts could be sourced from different manufacturers, pure guesstimate. I’m still running firmware 5B58.
I can't get mine to remove at all. I click remove put in my passwords and it goes back to the main find my screen with everything still connected like I tried nothing. Did you ever find a solution?Hi! I tried removing the airpods from “find my” app and when i connect them again they show up again in the “find my” app… any solutions?
My AirPods would only charge to 95% percent last time I tried, then drained 6% in 10 hours without being used once. I just wish I could remove them from find my but I can't. That has to be the drain issue.Apple's quality on AirPods is horrible. After a software issue on my AirPods Pro 1st gen that resulted in them being bricked...I hesitantly decided I'll buy the new AirPods Pro 2. I'm now having the same issue reported here with the case battery drain. It never hit 100% charge once. Out of the box, it was around 60ish percent and over the last couple of days, it is now down to 20%. Apple software will show the charging of the AirPods but the case will only show the battery even while plugged in to charge.
A funny thing happened while typing this. I tried charging using my Apple Watch charger and it actually shows it charging now. Too early to tell if it will charge up to 100% and/or not quickly drain. This first positive sign though...I'll give it a couple more days but this looks like a return for me.
Update: After using the Apple Watch charger it has charged to 100% and hasn't significantly drained the battery like it was. Oddly...using the lighting connection still won't charge and still will show only the battery while plugged in. Not sure why only wireless charging works and direct connection doesn't.
I have in the past for my 1st gen AirPod Pros.Do you need to make a genius apt for AirPods?
Hmm, I'm curious if I should follow your route and get mine replaced.Update- after watching the battery over the last few days I can now confirm that i No longer have severe battery drain.
