My case has been off the charger since yesterday morning, it’s been 24 hours since and the battery for the case is still at 100% so looks like my issue has indeed settled down.

Last week I was loosing 27% battery per day.

i've used it for 20 minutes yesterday. After that i put the Airpods back in the case and they were on 95% and the case on 89%.

After charging the Airpods in the case to 100%, the case was on 85%. In the evening the case was on 82%. This morning the case drained to 73%

I recently grabbed a pair and suffering from same issue. I understand the case for Airpods 3rd Gen and Airpods Pro 2nd Gen works differently but my 3rd Gen case last for 2-3 weeks easily.

Mine are still within 30days period bought from Amazon and im getting them replaced. Fingers crossed.

Just leaving a update here...
i charged my case from Wednesday, i haven't used my AirPods though but can confirm today Sunday morning my case (and AirPods) are at 100% full battery.
Thank goodness it settled on its own.

I've used it for another 2 hours in total since my last post. The case drained from 72% to 31% 😞

What worked for me was:
1. Unpair the AirPods from my phone (iPhone 13 pro on 16.4.1)/devices.
2. Charge the AirPods to 100% (assumed it was at 100% by leaving them charging for 4 hours).
3. Pair the AirPods to phone.
4. Disable the 'Find my' function on the AirPods.
So, far the AirPods have only lost battery when using them and haven't noticed any 'extra' battery drain when not being used (sitting on desk or in drawer).

Charged to 100% two days ago. I haven’t used them since the full charge and now they are at 66%.

Seems like there is a new firmware. Hopefully it will fix it but i doubt that.

I feel like disabling the Find My function would work in itself. For me and most if your disable, it reconnects itself. I have tried to do this many times with no luck.

I believe you are correct, however for me it would not let me disable the Find My function without unpairing the airpods.
Not from the Find My page, but even from the Settings menu.

never had this issue with my APR 1st gen even after years of usage. but the new Airpods pro 2 suddenly start to drain battery like crazy , fully charged 100% to 65% in the morning without any use . will try get apple store to replace it for me

Yeah, that is because the APP 1st gen didn't have the "Find My" always-on feature, which, we have concluded, is leading to the massive battery drain on the APP 2nd gen.

Ok so mine went pretty good and lasted close to 2 weeks in total (the case).
Got down to 4% remaining yesterday so i put the case on the charger and left it all today....before i went to bed last night i unplugged them.
Woke up this morning (6 hours later) and the case was down to 95% remaining. 3 hours later i come back to my room and have a look again and now the case is down to 90% left.

Gee i honestly thought my issue had settled on its own ...seems it hasn't now :/

Im lost for words to be honest.

Gotta just live with it, for now…god knows when and if, Apple will resolve this glaring issue with the APP 2nd Gen, or with the APP 3rd Gen, when it gets released sometime in the 2H of this decade…

Agreed yeah.
Let's just hope its sooner rather than later the fix!

I charged my case to 97% a week ago. Used it for about 4 hours in total this week and yesterday the case depleted to 1%. I charged them last night to 100% and turned Find My off. This morning it was still on 100% ....

apple replaced both my airpods but the case, still 100% since 5pm yesterday. looking good
I have noticed a pattern where users have reported that their issue disappeared after getting their APP or case replaced, or both replaced. This leads me to believe that the issue may be specific to the initial batches of the product. Therefore, if you were to purchase a pair of APP 2nd Gen from an Apple Store today, the issue may not exist anymore.

What are your thoughts on this conclusion?

If you search this thread you will see that the issue is not always resolved even if Apple replaced the APP or case.

I've been logging the percentages for a few weeks now. It seems that turning off "Find My" helps a bit but there is still some weird behaviour. For example :

Day : APP percentage & Case Percentage

Wednesday : 100% & 90% - after 40 min usage 90% & 90% - 100% & 83% - 100% & 79%
Thursday 100% & 76% - 100% & 68%
Friday 100% & 65% - after 45 min usage 92% & 63% - 100% & 54%
Saturday 100% & 49% - after 60 min usage 83% & 48% - 100% & 43% - 100% & 41%
Sunday 100% & 30% - after 70 min usage 79% & 28% - 100% & 19%
Monday 100% & 11% - after 40 min usage 92% & 11% - 100% & 5% - after 30 min usage 92% & 4% - 100% & 1% - charged to 100% & 100% & find my turned off

Tuesday 100% & 100%
Wednesday 100% & 100%
Thursday 100% & 100% - after 25 min usage 97% & 100% - 100% & 97% - 100% & 91%
Friday 100% & 89% - after 30 min usage 95% & 86% - 95% & 79% - 100% & 78%
Saturday 100% & 78% - after 60 min usage 88% & 77% - 100 % & 65%
Sunday 100% & 65% - after 40 min usage 94% & 65% - 100% & 59% - 100% & 57%
Monday 100% & 57% - after 30 min usage 97% & 52% - after 45 min usage 93% & 48% - 93% & 43%
Tuesday 93% & 34% - 100% & 30%

The case holds it power better after turning off "Find My" but as you can see somehow it still can lose a few % without any usage.

Got it. Thanks for your thoughts.

No comments lately - so I assume nothing has gotten better? I experienced this (case going to zero without using the pods after a couple days sitting on my desk) and went to see if it was a widespread issue....turns out it is. My APP1's would last weeks if I didn't use them. The APP2's are dead after a couple days of sitting. This is ridiculous.

Mine's been weird to be honest.. like for 1/2 weeks in a row it will be pretty decent the battery drain then all of a sudden the following week straight after the charge and within a matter of hours it will drain 20% of the battery and then settle down...Sometimes more sometimes less.

All i know is when i got my Gen 2 Pro's they were always lasting me 2 weeks minimum ...somtimes i could go 3 weeks before a charge. Then after when Apple pushed that certain Firmware update with the iOS update something happened there and started the drain for me.
i still feel like the issue is software related and had to do with the Find My app/location thing.

Are there any news in this regard?

My APP2's sill drain between 10-20 percent per day when not in use. Its really so sad for such a great product besides that. :(

I'm having a strange issue with my AirPods 1 case

I fully charged them on Wednesday, used them only slightly over Wednesday and Thursday, came to put them in on Friday to walk to the hairdressers and heard the low battery tone and according to my iPhone the case was pretty much dead and the AirPods only 10% battery life

Just plugged them back in now and virtually 5 minutes later the AirPods are showing 80% charged and the case 90%!

It is like my iPhone suddenly decides to reckon they're virtually out of battery but they're not as there is no way a 5 minute charge would have got them anywhere back up to that level of charge!

I have APP2 since last weekend. My case doesn't seem to have a lot of full charges in it. When it's at 37%, the indicator light already is red, meaning there is not a full charge left in there. Do you experience the same?

How do i permanently remove airpods pro 2 from Find My? It keeps unpairing from my phone when i remove from Find My and when I re-pair it adds it back to Find My.
