Obviously opinions and experiences vary but I'm a fairly staunch Apple proponent and even I think iTunes is a steaming pile of....;)

I just think it does better than any other piece of software that plays movies, music, podcasts, audiobooks, has stores for all of those, and syncs your device. It isn't great, it isn't well planned, but it definitely is better than the competition in the regard of how much it does.

I want to see it split up, to be honest.

Only piece of Apple's game I hate. I think iTunes is hot garbage. Just getting movies on an iPad is hellish. I cannot believe after a decade plus they still can't produce a better product.

They can, but it's likely piss off a lot of people when it's lacking features initially. Think iWork or FCP.

Sure, but they're used to that by now. Introduce a product without some features that will eventually be added on. Release when ready. Used to be a mantra.

That depends on whether they bring out a software replacement that is COMPLETE, properly tested and fully functional, or a half-baked piece of crap that still belongs in beta (like almost everything they have released recently).

If they did release a new beta iTunes alongside the old rusty version, would you use it?

Probably not. My trust in Apple's ability to produce quality software and hardware is totally gone. I seriously hope they show signs of changing their ways, but if they don't I won't hesitate to move on. I used to be a solid supporter of Apple products and software, and placed an emphasis on using them in preference to others that were available. With their recent approach, however, I have been forced to find more fully featured and reliable alternatives. The competition these days is better than ever, and other tech companies are producing some really nice products in both hardware and software. To me, Apple has some serious catching up to do.

Last night, one of my Lumia 640 got sold to my cousin's best friend. I made a decent profit of $85 for selling a $30 phone. The girl asked me is iPhone any good and how much do they cost in the States? After I said the amount, I bluntly said "iPhones are overpriced. Overrated." Right in front of her son who was playing with an iPad.

But I will say it again. Apple products are overpriced and overrated especially iOS devices. They are so overrated by their diehard fanatics and people who use them then review them. There is restrictions and limitations of trying to always be proprietary and to think different. I am not saying they are bad products. They just seem catered for soccer moms with the tech savvy of Kim Kardashian who can't think for themselves and simply incapable to problem solve an issue.

Everytime I read comments like Android users are for the poor folks or too cheap or they can't afford iPhones, I just laugh. Keep telling yourselves that while little 8-year olds living in Compton own iPhones already. The more of that mindshare, the more I can sell hand me down iPhones faster and easier to more suckers. I know most people who look down on us po' Fandroids who enjoy our LAGGY OS simply don't know what many of us are capable of doing with our phones. We memorized so many steps and patterns while most don't have the capacity to remember five. Most iOS users don't know any better on how to utilize their phone to their max potential and their biggest dilemma is if they should get it in space gray, silver, gold, or rose gold? That's cute.

Stuff like the live clock icon introduced in iOS7, I saw that back in Cydia on iPhone OS 3! My weather icon was also updated live. Intelliscreen was released as early as 1.x.x days. My iOS devices were tinkered to the brim pre-iOS4 when devices only had 128 MB RAM. Now jailbreaking seems pointless to do when that was the only interesting aspect of iOS for me back in the day. I feel Nova Launcher Prime is like a continuation of Summer and Winterboard but more robust. The official 9.3 updates like finally being able to password lock your Notes app is like more than a half decade old features. Get with the times, Apple.

I had the biggest Apple envy before. During 2007, I would Google News search iPhone almost every day. I lusted for iPhone for about 1.5 years constantly. Apple's luster had died on me years ago before SJ passed away. Their product announcements used to have so much anticipation. Now I just shrug them off. The Steve Jobs' Apple died when he died. They can continue to break sales and profit records, but Apple doesn't feel the same anymore. If you ever were thinking of leaving Apple. Think like Virgin's mantra - "Screw it. Just do it." You will have more money in your bank account in the long run. Overpriced, overrated. Lacking any innovation as of late. Simple as that.

All very reasonable and articulately presented.

Nicely presented.Completely agree with this.SJ Apple was out of this world. They made bold moves and strived for perfection unlike the fashion crap they have become today

Android is now much more feature packed than iOS so whatever Apple does in iOS no longer seems impressive but rather playing catchup. The app streaming feature where you don't have to download the app on Android but run it from the web direct from Google's servers is a example of a NEW feature which will never come to iOS while Apple is focusing on third party keyboards and password protection

I'll pay for "overpriced" products that just work 100% of the time without maintenance. I need FaceTime and iMessage and email for my 9 to 5. Anything else an sp4 with a keyboard, does the trick.

As I said in the other thread in response to essentially the same post, time is money and less is more.

I agree with you. In fact, I think it is greatly representative of most Android fans' arguments!
If you want a honest opinion on a company product you use,you will always refer to the criticism given by the user of a rival company. If I want to hear a honest critic of iOS,I refer to Android sites. If I want to listen to critics of Android,I refer to iOS sites.

Yeah, nope. If you want an honest criticism of a product you use, you're best reading sites that use *all* the products. Listening to an Android user babble about Steve Jobs dying and soccer moms isn't illuminating anything.

What's wrong with his post?It seems a very good description of his opinion.

It might be his opinion, but it isn't reasonable in any sense of the word.

No, you go and read reviews from respectable critics. I don't go to sites specifically catered to the other platform.

There is no such thing as "honest criticism", which is not the same as constructive criticism, it's a bit of bias talking.

It's the nature of the beast on tech forums. Because of this very thing I try out products and then take the plunge.

Disagree, it's just that most of the time when people are "just doing honest criticism" they're really just throwing out biased crap. But honest criticism can happen.

I think you make a valid point here. The old Apple is gone. It's time people faced up to the truth that the current company is a shadow of what was, and effectively isn't the same company at all. it is run with different values and approaches, and doesn't produce the same kinds of products that it once did. People criticise the "Apple is going out of business" type doom and gloom, but they don't realise that the old Apple no longer exists.

Personally, I don't mind paying a high price for a premium product. The problem is that the new Apple products are no longer premium, they just pretend to be. The well thought out design and reliability is now largely gone, making the price of Apple products increasingly difficult to justify. Many of their recent products when compared to what their competition offers in the same price bracket are not even in the same class; it's sad to see.
