That's why I said those points are basic functionality for me, not for the masses.

I actually want ALL those features in EVERY OS: iOS, Android, WP, etc. That way I can move from one OS to the other and not be a "prisoner" of only one (being Android in this case).

It is negative that I can only find those features in just one OS: Android. Why can't I have them all in iOS and WP too?

That's why I like every company to copy each other.

It is no benefit to anyone if certain features can only be found in one OS.

I'll give you a quick example:

I was a Windows PC user before, but I started hating it and decided to move to OS X. Certain functionality is there same as in Windows, but some isn't (like the ability to rename a bunch of files easily in the Finder which Windows has). Whenever I want to leave Android (if ever) I want to have an alternative that meets the basic functionality I need, just the basic. Everything else can be different (just like from Windows to OS X).

Fair enough--makes perfect sense for use case. Bummer you didn't get what you needed though in all honesty, I doubt you'll ever see a lot of that functionality in either iOS or WP.

I'm convinced more and more these "ifans" you claim will comes around claiming this and that exist only in the minds of people like you who use them to discount all Apple fans....

Let the trolls troll - stop using this argument as a means to negate anything someone says as a fan of Apple and/or iOS.

I am just lamenting how extremely myopic some apple fans (including you) are that they can't see anything good beyond apple. They often need to back pedal and get red-faced when apple follows (or copies :p ) those features.

You yourself must have said widgets are crap and waste of space and battery. You might also have said S health is crap. Totally change of tune now ios have them. Not gonna let you get away with it...ha ha.

That's all I'm hearing from you. You are grouping us with the blind Apple fanboys that don't see that Android had some of these features before. But way to go being that judgemental and hypocritical.

Let me repeat that again "Might, might"

While I love the iPhone and iOS 8, I'm too accustomed to my Moto X's screen. I need a larger iPhone first.

Only you yourself will know what your views were.

Anyway it is great to see ios8 incorporated so many great features from android. That shows how some Apple fans were totally wrong in their criticisms of Android.

Thanks for adding some now ;)

So, people are just gonna scream "catch up" because it kind of is true. At least though Apple is starting to allow things all modern devices should be able to use. I have a few apps invested in both iOS and Android and I'm more than happy to use both ecosystems so overall I'm kind of excited about the changes.

iOS8 doesn't have anything original. Most of it is all about playing catch up to what modern mobile OSes already offer. Can't say I'm impressed.

As a former iPhone user and current Android user, I am really tempted to switch back to an iPhone. The new continuity features for OS X Yosemite really shows how functional and coherent the Apple ecosystem really is. Being able to answer calls on a Mac while the iPhone is away? That is something I have been hoping for a long time. If the next iPhone has killer specs (4.7" 1080p screen, improved camera with higher MP count, A8 processor) I will very likely switch back.

For me, Apple is always the home sweet home that just works and has no risks, while Android is the world outside the home, which is far more exciting but also more risky. I have always considered Tim Cook's remarks to be untrue and merely a show of superiority, but in this case, I really have to agree with him. "Only Apple can do this".:apple:

But see, you're assuming I've said those things - I havent. And widgets as Apple has announced them are far different than the widgets of Android or live tiles. Now we can say a widget is a widget, but I think implementation is important.

You made my point though - thanks for lumping me in with trolling apple fans who whine about a feature and then hail it awesome when Apple adds it. If I do so, I make a point to show distinction in implementations.

I've also had plenty of good things to say about Android, and have on multiple occasions. Just iOS works best for my needs.

Lol - all I try to do is make a distinction between feature and implementation....not specific to anything mind you, just as a general rule, and these yahoos go nuts.

Android had everything first. Nevermind there were mobile OSes before it which had features "first". I would say implementation plays a huge role and makes Android better/different.

But all these guys can yell is "first!"

It's really kinda sad and so predictable.

Seems everytime you come into the android forum you have a blew with someone. One has to wonder? ;)

Wow, someone who saw past the lack of a file system in iOS....

The continuity stuff looks killer. Really thought this WWDC was the most exciting I've watched (last 2 before this). I like the things I'm able to test on my iOS 8 iPad - though I'm really looking forward to the interplay between devices. I signed up for the Yosemite beta, but it's limited to the first million and I jumped in as I watched the keynote about an hour later.....

We'll see. These software features combined with the rumored larger displays could make for an absolutely massive holiday quarter.

And we haven't even talks about the iWatch or AppleTV update.

Seems like it's the same people that always have the problem. I get on just fine with other Android users on this forum....

I think anyone with a reasonable amount of intelligence can see I've been extremely logical and civil in my discussions here. Any assumptions the reader makes are his/her own problem. ;)

Looks great. Excited to install it on my devices. I'd have to get my hands on it to be sure but it feels like I actually wouldn't mind using it as my daily driver. If the iPhone 6 has a bigger screen I will consider it for my next phone.

Extremely stable on my iPad Air. There are some apps that don't work (and a thread in the iOS 8 section that's keeping track), but no hiccups or stutters for me.

Seriously contemplating putting it on my 5C which is my daily personal phone.

I think they hit a homerun with integration between iOS and OSX products. Other than that, nothing that truly impresses me or haven't seen.

Sharing API opened to all apps.

You know what they say, if you want to know something ask a teenager:)

And you come across very brash and if you know everything.

I guess part of my personality. Plus I'm always asked for tech help do that may have gotten to me.

Looks nice but I still prefer Android but I am not like the neckbeards who think it is either/or. It isnt some battle and a side must be declared for me, I appreciate both but just prefer Android

@ the end of the day....Apple is still great at blending great software with great hardware...... I will wait and get IOS8 on my iPad Air and see what happens. I think we all will know more after we use the software. About the presentation.......those guys always do a great job on their presentations.

I think technology has evolved to the point that there are not very many things that blow us out of the water anymore. We keep expecting to be wowed at every software/hardware product announcement. It just hasn't' happened.

I am interested to see first hand some of the notifications between IOS8 and Yosemite. At first glance they would seem annoying....but maybe they would prove useful.

Well said jamezr - I agree. This desire to see something completely new every year is pointless. There's always SOMETHING that came before it. That's why I focus so much on implementation. That's where some key differences lie.

I'm really excited to see how the continuity features work. Hope I get into the OS X public beta. Already put iOS 8 on my iPad Air and am going to throw it on my 5C as well. It seems really stable so far (far more stable than iOS 7b1 - which wasn't terrible for me).

I've already had an instance today where it would've been cool and useful to answer my phone on my mac. And if it work with your phone in another room? I'd think all you notification light guys would be drooling over that :D;)

That's why I'm thinking about switching. The integrations between both sounds like heaven. My iPad 2 and MBP work so well together and I want that for my phone.

Not sure about that.......Didn't you poo poo that idea of having your phone in another room and notifications? Correct me if I am wrong about that.
But i am not sure about getting double notifications. If i am at my desk as i am now....writing this from my iMac.......with my iPhone right next to me......I get a text......then get 2 notifications....one on my phone....one on my iMac with Yosemite. I think that would annoy me after a while......
