I have a 170 mm/6. 7 inch wrist. this is the series 8 and the ultra with the same Hermes strap. It’s big, but I was pleasantly surprised at its appearance, partially because smaller traditional watches don’t always include the lugs.
You're absolutely right. Then again, judging from the posts and pictures I've seen here, most of the people buying the Ultra aren't exactly in the target demographic either. 🤣The bolded tells me that you clearly aren't the target demographic for the watch anyway.
I've said this before (don't remember if it was this or another thread), but I think the real target demographic is actually the kind of people posting here, and the apparent targeting of extreme athletic demographics is a marketing gimmick. You're absolutely right. The target demographic is whoever is willing to spend the money to buy the watch. Apple doesn't care what size your wrist is, or what your fitness habits are. They knew that a lot of Apple users would buy it just because it's the latest and greatest.I've said this before (don't remember if it was this or another thread), but I think the real target demographic is actually the kind of people posting here, and the apparent targeting of extreme athletic demographics is a marketing gimmick.
There it is. Doesn't even matter if it's "absolutely ghastly," really. The target demographic is whoever is willing to spend the money to buy the watch. Well that's one thing we can agree on.You're absolutely right. Then again, judging from the posts and pictures I've seen here, most of the people buying the Ultra aren't exactly in the target demographic either. 🤣
Actually, I was pleasantly surprised that the ultra felt wearable on my tiny wrist, whereas the bigger size S0-S8 watches all feel too uncomfortable to wear. I don't know of it was the ocean band, or there's a subtle difference in the shape of the ultra, but Apple did put some thought into making the ultra more wearable on different size wrists. The target demographic is whoever is willing to spend the money to buy the watch. Or maybe, looks are actually subjective & the buyer’s opinion is the only one that truly matters.I saw one in the store the other day. Even uglier in person. Still yet to see a photo where it doesn't look hilariously bad on wrist. Too bad the "Post your Apple Watch" thread has been ruined by it. I used to like to look at other people's set ups, but now is ugly Ultra after ugly Ultra on wrists too small for it. All posters seemingly totally unaware how bad it looks.
I have small wrists and have worn a Rolex Sea Dweller for years, one of the biggest and heaviest mechanical watches there is. It is ostensibly a divers watch but I’m not a diver, I just really liked the look of it and still love it 40 years after I bought it. Some people insist on ranting why they don’t like what so many others do like. We don’t really care🤷♂️
Is your pose another way of telling us what you think of the Apple Watch?I’d be sending whoever designed it and released it home with their P45
Nah. It’s objectively hideous. Like a guy walking down the street in clown shoes. He’d look objectively ridiculous. You can say only his opinion matters, but we can say he looks silly.Or maybe, looks are actually subjective & the buyer’s opinion is the only one that truly matters.
You have a right to an opinion....but opinions are subjective by design!Nah. It’s objectively hideous. Like a guy walking down the street in clown shoes. He’d look objectively ridiculous. You can say only his opinion matters, but we can say he looks silly.
Obviously not "objectively" so, because not everybody agrees with your....opinion. Which is exactly what it is.Nah. It’s objectively hideous. Like a guy walking down the street in clown shoes. He’d look objectively ridiculous. You can say only his opinion matters, but we can say he looks silly.

You probably have a small wrist and are peeved that it looks ugly on YOU! But please stop projecting on us!!Nah. It’s objectively hideous. Like a guy walking down the street in clown shoes. He’d look objectively ridiculous. You can say only his opinion matters, but we can say he looks silly.
Love that band. Same wrist size here, and I think the Ultra looks amazing.I have a 170 mm/6. 7 inch wrist. this is the series 8 and the ultra with the same Hermes strap. It’s big, but I was pleasantly surprised at its appearance, partially because smaller traditional watches don’t always include the lugs.
I think you're making a good point here. But I get the impression that many people just buy the AWU for the looks and perhaps the hype - while they may not even be into (heavy) outdoor sporting. It’s an outdoor utility watch. It’s not supposed to look good at the office. Buy a stainless AW8 for that.
It looks tasteful for what it is, as long as your wrist is big enough, and as long as you don’t try dressing up the watch with Hermes bands or Milanese loops or other bands clearly not meant for it. Let it be an outdoor sport watch.
I think it’s perfectly fine to think the Ultra is an ugly oversized smartwatch. Just don’t assume everybody thinks the same way.
It’s too big for me and not really my style to be honest. If someone I knew owned one and it looked too big for them, I’d certainly keep my opinions to myself.
