Now that the minimum requirements are out, do you think the 2011 Mac Mini with the discrete gpu chip will be able to run the game in bootcamp/ Thank you!

of course... might be at lower settings, but it should be playable.

I found them all too expensive.... I'll just wait until there is a free trial and then keep playing after that. I don't care if its a year from now. I've been really excited about the game, but those are rip off prices.

The standard edition i bought was £34 and that includes the first months gametime. Seems like a good deal to me. Not any more expensive than any other new release.

I'd be concerned about this spec: Video Card: Star Wars: The Old Republic requires a video card that has a minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM as well as support for Shader 3.0 or better. Examples include: ATI X1800 or better, nVidia 7800 or better, Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better.

What kind of graphics does the Mac mini have?

It has an AMD Radeon 6630M with 256 MB of GDDR5 RAM.

Do you have a link ? I've had a look but can't see it, only the regular version.

Game online sold out, your online chance is in a normal store, i may pick one up if they have then around up here. The problem for me was the early access code wasn't coming in time, game didnt seem to realise it was time sensitive. first come first serve scenario

I forgot to mention, but for anyone who preordered a digital download copy, be sure to go back to swtor.com and register it. I believe this determines your place in line to download content.

STAR WARS(TM): The Old Republic(TM) Digital Deluxe Edition Pre-Order - 1) Go to www.swtor.com/preorder/code

Here is a comparison of what you get in each version of the game. And at the Origin/Electronic Arts Preorder Site, it still looks like versions are available. The only one that appears sold out is the $150 (+ $20 preorder fee?*) Collectors Edition.

*See the next reply for clarification. I'm not sure if preorder fee is extra or not.

Its $150, the $20 is the pre order price will be deducted from the $150. Thus leaving $130 payable upon release of the game.

Same applies to all pre order fees.

You may be right, but I paid with a credit card for a preorder of the digital deluxe addition. My receipt shows:
SWTOR Digital Delux addition: $74.99
Preorder: $5.00
Subtotal: $79.99
Sales Tax: $6.60
Total $86.59.

It says nothing about charging $5 now or if all is charged now, refunding $5 later. They might but it does not say that on the receipt or anywhere on the order site that I could locate.

I was actually more curious then anything else. I've not really given this game that much thought before although having seen the coverage so far including trailers it does look interesting. The thing is I don't have time to play MMO's plus this not native and would require installing Windows with Bootcamp or a VM. That said I am considering it on my new Mini when I get it. I'm not very familiar with this aspect but I presume Bootcamp is better then using a VM for gaming.

They better let mac players play this game without bootcamp.

I'm sure hobby porters will try to make a hobby port... I know when I finally get the game I'll spend a long time if needed getting a Wineskin port made... but right now the game is only going to be Windows, so if you want to play right away on your Mac, you will have to use Windows directly (not a VM)

Bootcamp is the way to go, anything graphics intensive will not work or be horrible on VM.

The new mini should run the game no problem at around medium settings i would imagine.

You can get the game for £36 from shopto.net pre order, I have it ordered there. The CE looks lovely but i cant justify that large a purchase!

Ah that sucks man, in the UK in some stores they will take a payment for the pre order but that is removed from the final value! On my pre order there is no charge so i just pay £36 when it is released!

good thing that Bootcamp and Virtual Machines aren't the only options!
I really want to play this game but I don't want to be bothered to install Windows.
Same with me... I was hoping to get in the Beta so I could try to port it, but they didn't let me in... so now I'm waiting until they do a free trial, or if there is evidence by other players it will work ok with Wine.. I was in the Star Trek Online beta, and got it working with Wineskin, is the only reason i kept on with that game... and tons of people have used my Wineskin wrapper to play STO. If I make a Wineskin port before anyone else makes one, then I'll be sure to share it, like everything is over at portingteam.com

The last time I bought a game from the same company, it turned out to be an overpriced game with few resources rehashed so much I hurried up to beat the game, because I was sick of looking at it all. Although I'm not into MMORPGs anymore, I hope you all aren't disappointed and I look forward to seeing you guys discuss this game here when it finally comes out.

That's usually how it works for retail. I think this has to do with who is hosting the digital download? But then there was a preorder fees for the hard copies too... If I was to guess I'd say Amazon is not charging extra, just something to hold it which might be deducted?

Dragonage2? I never finished the original, it just, I don't know. When it comes to RPGs/MMOs, I hate invisible walls and not being allowed to fall to your death. ;) The original Dragonage's game elements were pretty good. I did complete Mass Effect and thought it was good. :)

Thanks for that. I will consider setting up Bootcamp and installing Windows when I get my new Mini.
