if apple started including media cards and what not that would be the day i loose total respect. they would look atrocious.
we all here mac users, and love Apple products..but would you tell me why they shouldnt include a memorry reader?? it can be like a little slot next to the Express card and they can make it look stylish like the whole machine parts..

in my own opinion..the whole iMac thing isnt really that great..it looks good yes..its small and saves space yup all the way..BUT you cant upgrade the graphics card or the sounds card...if i ever think about buying a desktop it would be a Mac pro..

well... i spose... now that i think about it... if they could make a little hinge like the express slots, that would be ok.

i just keep having this image of the toshiba and dell card readers, those things are hideous.

dont get me wrong, i love my macs as much as the rest of yous. i just hate seeing apple turning into what we all hate the most.

Bring her to an apple store... or show her a few reviews of the iMac. If she still doesn't believe you then show her the dissection of an iMac. If she still doesn't believe you then i think she has trust issues!

Most normal people never upgrade their graphics card or sound card. For those that do, the Mac Pro is the way to go (hence the "Pro" in the name).

yup cards reader usually look crappy..like a big fat hole in the side of the laptop O_O...but if apple include it in their future laptop..for sure it would look different and have a little door like the express card one =)

thats what i noticed from Apple..guess many of you did aswell...they make things late usually..but when they include a feature they do the best =)

Normally Mac resellers use iMacs as their work computers. You could show her one of those. Or get a mac reseller person to tell her.

Also you don't need to show her a new iMac. An older model will do in proving that it is all-in-one.

I think the only people that would buy an iMac and would want to upgrade their graphics card are gamers, and I don't think a lot of those would buy a mac (yes, yes boot camp, yes yes new releases, but the mac still isn't a great gaming machine)

thats so true, first isnt best IMO. just take your time and make a good product and implement it, albeit at raised prices.

Macs are nice, but that OS has to go. :p

i have no idea what you're on... lol.

I bought my mini at Best Buy. Picked up a 17" lcd, too. Paid, and went to leave when the security geek checked my reciept. I had display under one arm, mini in the other and he says, "where is the computer?"!

best buy doesnt check for reciepts if you have just checked out.

and you can always deny giving it to them, they cannot require you to show them.

Diddily Daddily...
Or how they might be inclined to believe that you are shoplifting other items :)

probably depends on the laziness factor. i bought a sports bag (like a small duffel bag) and then went into JB HiFi (music/electronics retailer) looking for a flash drive. didnt find any, so when i get to the door im like "do you want to look in here (the bag)" to the security guard. i open the first (of about 4) zips about 3 inches and he's like "you're fine"

They will check it if your purchase is not in a bag and they don't see you at the check-out register.

I was checked for a receipt when I bought an all-in-one printer and some extra ink and paper. The ink and paper were in a bag but not the printer.

Yup, and they usually ban people they suspect of shoplifting. Not opening your bag or showing your receipt is an all around bad idea as it causes way more trouble than it's worth.

This was simply classic...LOL

The Internet's Down!

I didn't know the entire Internet can go down.

Well, as long as the Internet's down we might as well go home...

It can theoretically be damaged pretty hard with focused strikes on important lines and hubs (or tubes and pipes in Stevensspeak)

Severing intercontinental lines would dramatically slow down connections, and hitting some important data centers could also reack havoc online. but a strike of this magnitude would make 9/11 look like the WTC bombings.

Anyone familiar with the YouTube vid "The Real Windows Vista"?

It's funny in that some MS rep is explaining all the "wonderful" features of Vista to come in 2007, while the person who put together the videos is demonstrating it all already being done on Tiger, an OS from 2005. :D

yes and I am sick of stupid people turning that around as PROOF tiger ripped of windows. Stupid people are like they were talking in 2004 about the longhorn alpha. NO! it was vista from like early 2007!

in short people who are oblivious to timelines annoy me

Weird one i had was "Why is your start menu at the top (referring to the menubar)" and i thought honest mistake since she's a PC user and proceed to try an explain that this isn't Windows and thats called a menubar blah blah and she retorts something along the lines of "Whatever einstein the start menu is always at the bottom on all computers. You're just not using your computer properly........blah blah blah".

I just turned away and went back to working thinking "That was a colossal waste of time"
