T-Mobile Customer Service has been absolutely useless on the pricing of the down payments. They keep saying the 64gb won't have a downpayment, but they don't have the prices on their end for the rest of the storage capacities until tomorrow....preorder begins at midnight. Oy vey.

Customer service has been going down hill fast at Tmo...

No they haven’t, they’ve always been great, you’re just impatient. Start the breathe app on your Apple Watch. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment.

Okay take care.

They keep telling me the full price for the phone which I am aware of. They never listen to questions, and are always foreign. I had billing issues recently and they never rectified them nor credited me.

Definitely reducing quality of the customer service.

Prices will be out in a few hours I’m betting

be patient, wait for an official announcement from them instead of making yourself aggravated by contacting customer care over and over.

How do you know they’re foreign, because they have an accent? Non foreigners would read from the same documents and give you the same info.

What phone are you currently using?

T-Mobile has already confirmed on Twitter that JOD will have a $0 down option for well-qualified customers which I'm assuming like last year is the 3 years plus well-qualified. Also one of the pages in the fine print on T-Mobile's site had $279 & $379 for EIP down payments for 64GB versions of XS & XS Max. So I would probably base it off that and for storage up, just add the difference.I would assume under 3 years JOD would be same as EIP.

Woohoo, $520 down.

Just not going to happen this week. Or this year.

When they determine whether you're "well qualified", do you know if that means a they'd still do a hard credit pull on someone who's been with them for 3+ years? I've been w/tmo since the 5s and I wouldn't be a fan of that.

agreed, wondering the same thing as i have been with Tmobile for 12 years

In previous years I've been told that they're going by the "credit ranking" on my account which was a combo of my years as a subscriber and my credit rating they pulled a while back. I don't think they can legally do a hard pull every time without telling you.

Update: They only do one hard pull but periodically query for updates.

Supposedly you start a new EIP for the new iPhone and then trade in your old one. Your old EIP gets zeroed out. TMo enrolled me as well, but I paid $429 down + taxes for the same phone as you. So I have paid way more than 50% already since all I have left on my EIP is $420. I'm debating keeping the X for now, but I have the upgrade bug and the Xs Max looks tempting.

I paid more than 50% down for my X last year and am down to $200 left. In this situation, it’s better for me to continue paying it off and keep it vs trading it in and losing out on the money I put down.

I am in the exact same boat. I ended up paying off the remainder of my JoD ($490) just to be safe. I have done the pre-qualifying for the Iup through apple and it appears the X is worth $525 for trade in with apple. What I don't know is if it will be applied to the purchase, or if I have to settle for an Apple gift card.

Were you able to find out further what Apple does in terms of refund? Ideally I'd love to trade it in to get it off the purchase price vs a gift card, so not sure if better bet is monthly payments or just pay up front in full.

It's basically a one-time use Jump on Demand. Quite frankly, it sucks.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like a great option. If you sell it on eBay you can get double what they are offering. I think I will pass (and maybe just keep the X for now).

This is what I pulled from TMO reddit page

Trade in an iPhone device in good condition as follows:
  • $300 offer value: iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8
  • $200 offer value: iPhone 6s or 6s Plus
  • $100 offer value: iPhone Original, 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 5c, SE, 6, 6 Plus

Yes, sucks as a 6s owner as iphone 6 got $300 last year.

I think you pay the full price for the phone and once it’s accessed by Apple they send you either a gift card or refund you.

For those who worry about hard credit inquiries, just lock your credit file. It's free for Transunion and Equifax. You get a mobile app that you can lock/un-lock any time you want.

T-Mobile has an option for theft and loss. I’ve had it since the X debuted and pay $12/month vs Apple’s $14.99/month.

Even with a $3 difference on an annual upgrade Apple IPhone Upgrade comes out ahead for anyone getting the higher GB because there’s no huge down payment.
Because of this crazy down payment you’re paying more than 1/2 the cost of the phone in 12 months. I have no idea why folks participate in JUMP if they upgrade yearly with the higher GB models. Sidebar I have never had my phone lost or stolen so I would just get the regular Apple care.

They apply it to the taxes and fees if you’re financing, and then give you the rest on a gift card. Or if you pay in full, they just apply it to the total.

I had no issues at all took me less than 2 minutes to fill out everything and get approval. The last 4 digits initially is for the primary account holder of your T-Mobile account.

I usually end up paying the device off, selling it and using that to upgrade. This year I’m not upgrading.

Use your account password, it worked for me.
