Does anyone know if the T Mobile stores will be open for walkins this Friday ?
They will, but past experience dictates they almost always have very little or no stock of the new phones for several days after the official launch. In the instances where they do have inventory, they tend to be the less desirable (compared to general demand) colors and lower storage capacities.

I asked customer care about that earlier this week and was directed to order online. They are (supposedly) sending all customers that direction as they said the stores will not be getting stock. YMMV if you contact your local store.

The difference is that with the way 5G currently works, you're sharing 5G on the same network as 4G LTE. With the Standalone 5G that T-Mobile has begun rolling out recently, the towers are only sending out 5G signal, not a combination of both. They started rolling this out once they began shutting down the sprint network after the merger. Sub6 is just the band they are using (I used the term Sub6 for Non-StandAlone 5G but they do use the same bands).
Thanks. Probably a stupid question but that doesn’t mean my phone will ONLY do 5G right? The LTE where I live is bad in our home. Thankfully we are always on wifi so it’s not much of an issue. But I am hoping the 5G where we are is good.

I pre ordered through T Mobile. Do the new iPhones come with a 5G ready sim card? Or do I need to go to the store to upgrade it?

Mine is now listed in EIP with the IMEI number. I did get an updated UPS with tracking showing on my choice, but nothing from T-Mobile yet. This was all for early morning 128gb graphite order. Nothing for late afternoon 128gb pacific blue order yet.
hey when did you get charged for your early morning 128gb graphite?

Even outside of launch days, my local T-Mobile stores seem to only carry the base storage configuration of any given model and color inventory can vary. As soon as you tell them you want the next storage capacity up, they offer to order it for you. But the kicker is that they will still charge that $20 assistance fee... even though you could just order it online yourself.

Remember, if there is a strong 5G signal in your area - the sub 6 bands (low and mid frequencies) you can set the phone to "5G Auto".

5G UW (mm wave) will drain your battery very quickly so beware....

And know that the 12 has a better modem for 4G too - it will help you out so don't rule out 4G yet.

Nope - the Sim just has a little more tech behind it. It will still be fine for everything else.

My ship date just changed to today. I've been charged and had tracking "ready for UPS" since Monday. IMEI today.
Ordered 8:42am, 128GB Pacific Blue iPhone Pro.

Still no movement on my 256gb blue pro. Ordered at 7 AM CST... Looking like going to get after launch sadly. I ordered my mothers 512 gb blue pro directly from Apple a few minutes later and have had her tracking in UPS mychoice for a few days.

EIP is showing active and IMEI is there, but checking order status it looks like it still won't ship until Friday despite the label being made last weekend. oh well.

When T-Mobile, and frankly many other retailers say “Ships By” or “Ships on”, they usually mean the date it gets to you/is in your hands.

Case in point: My Galaxy Note20 from Samsung consistently quoted “Ships by August 21” since my August 5 pre-order.

It ended up arriving by the 19th because Samsung isn’t that strict anymore with launch dates for shipments but I would bet that if Order Status says “Ships by 10/23”, you’re getting the phone Friday.

I just noticed (when digging through my account looking for imei details, lol) that they have my iPhone XS quoted as $241 for trade in value. That’s odd... I thought they were giving “up to $500” for it. Anyone else notice any weirdness with trade in values for older devices?

I appreciate the excitement on that explanation but I will keep the mindset it’s shipping on the 23rd lol.

My order still shows ships by 10/23/2020, no tracking, no IMEI, etc. my order was placed/signed 5 mins before the pre-orders were originally supposed to open.

So I guess I'll be surprised on the 23rd, hoping my screen protector comes before I get the phone too...

A lot of you who have had no movement are gonna be getting charges and shipping info tomorrow or in the middle of the night tomorrow. I guarantee that from my prior experience.

Oh I have no doubt but it’s still interesting to see how the process moves along and where it is. Judging by the posts we’ve seen I’d say we’re at around 9am confirmation time for most people.
