I usually get my iphones through the Iphone Upgrade Program. I skipped upgrading last year so over the summer this year, I paid off my iphone 11 pro max.

There was a deal with best buy recently for trading in. I did that deal on Wednesday. I pre-ordered the 13pro max Sierra blue. I went through the best buy website and did all the trade-in stuff. I got $615 credit for my paid off 11 pro max 256gb.

I got notification yesterday (9/24) that my iphone 13 PM was ready for pickup. I picked it up and paid around $430 for this iphone 13 pro max.

It seems like it should be straight forward as far as being paid off right? I'm not familiar with tmobile iphones purchased through Best Buy. It seems like it is 'sim locked' since the best buy employee had to put in a tmobile sim card. The 11 pro max used e-sim so no sim card.

Is my new iphone 13 pro max from best buy (with a tmobile sim installed) - really paid off or am I on the hook for the credit i received for trade-in? (sorry. i'm just not familiar with best buy iphones having gone with IUP for my last few iphones).

When can I unlock this tmobile sim locked iphone? I heard some say it has to be 40 days on the tmobile network? heard some say it's 60 days?

I just ask because I was curious to try Xfinity(Verizon network) as it has the better 5g coverage in my area. I'm in no rush to switch and I don't mind waiting.

Thanks in advance for those that can answer my questions.

Looks like T-Mobile attempted the charge but was declined this AM due to a spending limit I put when the T-Mobile hack but forgot to remove. Do you guys know if T-Mobile will attempt a re-charge or do I have to contact customer service?

The beauty was delivered around 10:30 this morning, finally!!

I guess Apple really put the silver pro max on the back burner this year. I called in at 4:50, order complete by 5:20 and I still haven’t been charged. I got the 9/28-10/5 delivery window immediately and I thought like every year it would be beat and delivered on launch day but still no tracking. Having now seen the Sierra Blue in different lighting situations, I kind of want it. It looks like an even nicer silver.
Yea it’s so frustrating. In the same boat but got mine in a few minutes earlier. Wish the person would have said it was delayed cause I would have changed colors.

When I did mine it was 30 days wait. And I think you can request to unlock online under your phone line.

After much wrangling over whether T-Mobile OR Apple OR Best Buy deal, I've settled on giving T-Mobile a "shot" with their program. I would need to upgrade to MAX which makes it less of a deal, but I'm also getting a wi-fi Mini 6 and want the 40gb of 5G hotspot + the Netflix makes it less painful.

To be frank, I almost bailed on TMO because their customer service was ATROCIOUS. I got 3 different answers every time I texted reps the same question about how the deal actually works. They didn't have quick answers and wouldn't respond directly to "how much do I pay up front." They would then not confirm whether it was "30 months" of bill credits or "24 months" of bill credits, and gave me different #s for my trade-in (XS-Max).

So when I say "give it a shot" -- this experience will determine if I stay with them after the promotion depending on how much they mess it up.

Definitely come in to a store. We can give you all that info in your account in person.

Yeah. I went to a T-Mobile store yesterday, and they did not appear to be very knowledgeable about all the promotions. I mentioned the promotion that’s a combo of Apple trade-in and T-Mobile credit, and she kept telling me that they don’t know anything about Apple deals. I tried to explain to her that the credits are a T-Mobile deal, but I just gave up.

Apparently, their promotion is much simpler when they have the phone in stock. In that case, the immediately give you the $1000 credit and you’re good to go with no payments. When they order it for you, they give you the trade-in value of your current phone immediately. Once you send you get the new phone and send yours back, they give you the difference in the trade in value of your phone and $1000. You then have to make payments on the trade-in value amount that they initially gave you for your phone.

It honestly just shouldn’t be that complicated. The only reason I even considered upgrading my 12 Pro was because I could do it without adding any other payments to my plan.

has anyone been charged for a few days now and still no tracking?
I would recommend giving Twitters T Force a shout and let them know since I had a 13 Mini that didn’t have a tracking# till I messaged them and they were able to find it for me

I no longer go to the store and contact customer support directly through the app. Most reps aren’t knowledgeable about it. I asked 2 reps about this deal about Magenta Max rate plan and I was told I could add it to an individual line without affecting the entire plan to convert to Max. I told them to go ahead to add it to one line that may take 24-48 hours. Later, found out they actually added an add-on Plus to that line under One plan. Finally, a knowledge rep told me that Max would require a plan change that will affect all lines on the plan and it would increase the rate plan. I wanted to know for Apple trade in deal for iPhone 13 PM and T-Mobile deal for S21 Ultra 5G.

You should get your promo code once you complete the trade in from Apple to apply it to your line or visit this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...e-emails.2313497/?post=30354438#post-30354438

Hey Everyone!

I kind of disappeared once I got my device Friday. It wa sleep a busy evening for me and had been spending a lot of time this weekend setting it up fresh since it’s my first Apple device in several years.

anyways it was delivered Friday about 630pm not long before the “before 7pm” time they gave.

I asked the UPS guy if it was a busy day as he stumbled out of the truck with 5 packages stacked (only 1 was for me), and he laughed and said yeah. I said “well it is iPhone delivery day you know. Then he said “yeah, they were like Make sure you get a signature for EVERY iPhone!!! I was like jeez okay okay!”

As he handed me iPhone box without asking for a signature. 😂

Anyways enjoying the phone a lot so far. They Sierra Blue looks even better than I expected. It’s like a fresh frozen river on a snowy day in the Sierra!

however I am having some issues with it. The biggest issue is 5G is slow as crap! I am only getting 1-2mbps download speeds but LTE is getting 40-50mbps. I had tested it multiple times on 2 different tower locations. So it definitely was not a tower issue. Also my Note 20 Ultra gets 80-120mbps on 5G. Both phones using T-Mobile.

So it’s definitely something with the iPhone 13 Pro. So I have set to only use LTE for now. I am going to research further in the forums if anyone else has reported this or not. If I don’t see any topic about it then I will be making one with all of my screen shots. If others are reporting the same thing on other carrier then I will be opening a case with Apple after verifying.
