Hey Everyone!

I kind of disappeared once I got my device Friday. It wa sleep a busy evening for me and had been spending a lot of time this weekend setting it up fresh since it’s my first Apple device in several years.

anyways it was delivered Friday about 630pm not long before the “before 7pm” time they gave.

I asked the UPS guy if it was a busy day as he stumbled out of the truck with 5 packages stacked (only 1 was for me), and he laughed and said yeah. I said “well it is iPhone delivery day you know. Then he said “yeah, they were like Make sure you get a signature for EVERY iPhone!!! I was like jeez okay okay!”

As he handed me iPhone box without asking for a signature.

Anyways enjoying the phone a lot so far. They Sierra Blue looks even better than I expected. It’s like a fresh frozen river on a snowy day in the Sierra!

however I am having some issues with it. The biggest issue is 5G is slow as crap! I am only getting 1-2mbps download speeds but LTE is getting 40-50mbps. I had tested it multiple times on 2 different tower locations. So it definitely was not a tower issue. Also my Note 20 Ultra gets 80-120mbps on 5G. Both phones using T-Mobile.

So it’s definitely something with the iPhone 13 Pro. So I have set to only use LTE for now. I am going to research further in the forums if anyone else has reported this or not. If I don’t see any topic about it then I will be making one with all of my screen shots. If others are reporting the same thing on other carrier then I will be opening a case with Apple after verifying.

I’m getting better 5G results on my 13 pro max than I was on my 12 pro.

Just took this Speedtest:

Me too! Well that proves either something is wrong with my account, or my specific phone, or multiple of their towers are having issues in my area.

Here is my 5G vs LTE test. The lower is the 5G. I tested it 3 times on 2 different tower/locations. So 6 tests total. Every time 5G was way lower. See attached screen shots. I guess I will be making a call to T-Mobile tomorrow.

Are you using an old SIM card?

FWIW - there were a lot of posts like this last year when the iPhone 12's came out, as first time with 5G. Many customers also had lower 5G speeds than with LTE.

So many things can affect both 5G and LTE speeds - proximity to the towers, that specific tower's congestion of both 5G and LTE devices connecting to it, etc. I doubt whoever you call at T-Mobile will be able to give you much more info.

Not trying to dissuade you from calling, but wanted to offer some additional context as I saw these a lot last year.

Here where I live in some spots on Saturday i was getting close to 400 mbps on 5G on my 13 Max with TMobile

Yeah I actually am, but I have used this SIM for multiple phones and it worked just fine.

This same SIM was used in my Note 20 Ultra, which got way over 100mbps on 5G. So not sure how it could be the SIM.
Employee here. Go grab a new sim. If it was a sim from a non 5G iteration of iPhone previously, I would almost bet money an updated sim will make the difference. Just give it a try, and keep me posted on what happens! ☺️

Hi All,
Congrats to all that received their snazzy new iPhone 13’s. I just knew we would see more people ready to show off their new phones.

I’m still waiting….

Ordered 9/17…. Was messaging T-Force 6 minutes before preorders started. I was literally getting the runaround. My order didn’t get placed until after 11am CST… EIP signed at 11:14am. Dates given 10/29-11/23…. I’m baffled and seeing some get charges sooner I’m thinking Silver would be readily available since it wasn’t the newest color. Boy was I wrong. Anywho who’s all still waiting? Any 10/29-11/23’s in the thread?

You must of gotten a 1tb or something, I ordered 13 pro silver 256gb 2.5 hours after launch since my initial tmobile rep sucked and couldn't figure out how to preorder. It still came launch day though!

Yea it works fine but you wouldn't get 5G speeds. The SIM you will need from Tmo is R15 I think. There is an R15 label on the SIM.

Nope smallest storage 128gb. I was curious like what’s really happening here. Even the website initially had earlier dates. I am confused.

PSA:
Those that are new to iPhone, I think Tmobile has stopped sending SIM card with the iPhones. You can still use your old SIM but you wouldn't get near 5G speeds on your iPhone.

You will need the newer R15 SIM which was designed for 5G iPhone 12 last year. Attached.

I has this same issue last year with the 12pro. I ordered silver thinking there would be no issues considering it wasn't the newest color and I had to wait as well. I wonder why that is.

You can also just use esim. That’s what I’m doing on my 13, even though I had r15 sim on my 12 pro.

Well, I caved and decided to upgrade my 12 Pro to a 13 Pro through T-Mobile for the $1000 trade in deal. I hadn’t planned on it, but I wasn’t planning to upgrade my 12 Pro for 2-3 years anyway. I figure this way, I get a free upgrade for that period. The ProMotion and battery life enhancements are worth it for me.

I’m sure the 14 will be great. Even if they redesign the phone without a notch, it won’t matter a ton to me. The notch has never really bothered me.

So, shipping dates question. My wife and I are awaiting 256GB Sierra Blue and Graphite Pros. T-Mobile's site say for both "In stock, estimated ship date: September 27 - September 30". Our estimated delivery date is 10/13... What should I believe. I tried the chat feature and that person couldn't even find my order details. We are porting from AT&T so not familiar with T-Mobile's reliability as far as shipping, site info, etc.

Was the order placed through customer service or from the site?

You can use this link to check the order status. https://www.t-mobile.com/order-status

I placed the order online, on the 22nd, providing our existing phone numbers. I figured we'd have to wait for the phones, however I'm just trying to rectify what the site says with our 2-day delivery estimate. Believe me, I've obsessively checked our order status at the link above. Thanks!
