Why does T-Mobile get the shaft when it comes to unit allocation from Apple?
Also, why hasn't there been an Uncarrier move to make the T-Mobile systems fully compatible with Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program and their online ordering system, so that T-Mo customers aren't the only ones who HAVE to pick up their device in store if they're buying from Apple?
^^ I'd rather have that than "free" Netflix.

I keep asking this ! No one can explain why! Sad sprint can do it and T-Mobile can't!
From what I know, it's T-Mobile's activation system that's the issue. Apparently it doesn't play well with Apple's systems.
And yes, it's very sad that's Sprint can do this while T-Mobile can't. This potentially being fixed would be the one upside of a Sprint/T-Mo merge IMO
Maybe T-Mobile should update them then, it would help tmobile redirect some of the traffic over to apples.
Apple knows that it's a headache to deal with T-Mobile because of this. This is probably why T-Mobile models were sparse at launch in Apple Stores for the 6s and 7, while ATT/VZW/Sprint models (while still heavily constrained) were more available in comparison. It's easy and almost foolproof to get them activated and get the customer sent on their way.
With T-Mobile, it's in God's hands. My IUP debacles at the Apple Store while on T-Mobile for both the 6s and 7 were legendary.
I really hope it's not as much of a drag as it was last year!I'm going to be hanging out in here but switched off to IUP due to the issues before... But I hope the best this year. But Expecting the same as before.
Why not just order/pre-order from Apple's website and choose the T-mobile carrier? Is there some hidden advantage to ordering from T-Mo?

Man, listen. I completely feel your pain. I once tried to upgrade in-store because both TMO and Apple told me I could do it in-store. Mind you, I had just sold my old iPhone and shipped it out and was stuck with an old ass G2. Got to the store and everything was going great until it came time to access TMO’s upgrade system. I sat there for a good hour while they tried to figure it out. Every time they ended up getting some random error code, so I walked away empty handed.
Ended up having to drive 100+ miles to an actual T-Mobile store to get a phone, since iPhone stock around my area is always low.
Moral of the story: never try to upgrade at the Apple store. NEVER.

I'm still torn about which route to go - Apple Trade in is willing to give $425 for our current phones (which I realize could change value wise). We're current T-Mo customers and have definitely enjoyed them, but have seen some people mentioning advantages of buying Verizon phone outright through Apple, etc. Currently have 7+'s on JOD.
Unless you are getting a high value for an older phone (like 6 or 6s), why would anyone trade a 7 or 7+ for just $300? Heck, GameStop gives $400 for them. Better yet, sell on Swappa or Craigslist. I know a bit more work, but just $300 for any storage 7 or 7+ is absurd...especially spread across the EIP.
No because that band of network has years before it gets fully deployed and by then a new iPhone would be out

I don’t get this. Isn’t that upgrade program what they already do with JUMP? I don’t see what’s different here.
It appears the T-Mobile JOD Program and EIP Program are two different things. With JOD, you can upgrade your phone every 30 days, where I think before with the EIP Program, you could only upgrade after paying your previous device off in full. Seems like I remember someone saying awhile back, T-Mo doesn't really make money on the JOD program, and were trying to entice more people to shift to the EIP Program, which makes sense why they offer the bill credits, the new upgrade after 50% paid off, etc, which is why it appears you can't get those offers on JOD.
The trade in offers from T-Mobile and the other carriers are pretty poor this year. Better off selling your 7 or 7 Plus yourself this time around. $300 is pretty much giving it away and leaving a lot of money on the table.
