Apple will just say that they have just reached an agreement with AT&T about all of iphone 4 owners will be eligible to buy iphone 5 at discounted price as long as you purchase them by this summer. There you go. Most of us will just throw away iphone 4 by next year because of iphone 5. Problem solved.

For what it's worth, I just spoke to AT&T customer service regarding the white iPhone 4 and was told that there was a release date, but it has been pushed back "indefinitely" due to problems with the distributor in China. He said they are having problems getting the phones to the U.S. Maybe this will be announced Friday. Again, just what I was told. Don't shoot the messenger.

No, I think he's telling the truth, but it's what we already know. The white phone does have a release date (June 24th) that was pushed back (to sometime this month) due to "manufacturing challenges (in China). He's just mis-quoting what we already knew.

They don't need a press conference to announce that. They may do there but only because it's convenient.

The press conference is almost definitely about the antenna BS. I don't know anyone can think otherwise. If anything else is mentioned, it's not the main item on the agenda.

This is what going to happen

They will say majority of the iPhone4 user don't experience the antenna issue, only a small group of people using the iphone4 in an non ideal signal location might experience signal issue and apple is working hard on a software fix to resolve the carrier low signal/coverage issue.

And no freebies, because any freebies means compensation for the faulty device, period.

And on the next conference, if the software doesn't fix the issue, apple will say they did the best they can to solve the carrier issue, but you can only do so much on to the phone side, the root cause are still the sources of the signal.

And the next thing going to happen is the launch of ipod4, ipad mini, iphone5

Only one person got it right...this is exactly what they will say (or close to it...)

The whole reason it's a conference and not a PR release/"letter from Steve" is because this is the quickest way for people to notice. Which translates into "Apple cares". Website statements are impersonal, etc.
