Finally back home.... A ton of main work is on the table but as soon as it's done I will start to work on thunderbolt further. A lot of new tests had been done. Also thinking about to write a new version of the firmware since other builds are stable and only 2009/2010th macpro creates problems with some gear.

This machine is already waiting...

Im curious if anyone has tried connecting an expansion chassis to the TR card? was hoping this would be viable and I could get a few extra PCI slots.
Thanks for any info on this.

I am glad you made it back and healthy, you might have not seen what I have been posting lately ( I have put some screenshots about the weird things I got I can shoot you some of the things privately if you would like.. ), but I wanted to say again thank you for all the work, work around you've been providing here... Let others that talk **** about you behind... Thank you again for your hard work. And welcome back home...
Have a great day!

How exciting! Glad you're feeling better! Let me know if I can help with the process at all! I've been using the TR for my Universal Audio Apollo 8p unit and daisy chaining 2 octo satellites with it. Right now I cold boot and then go through a series of two recovery boots for all units to be seen by the 5,1. Once it gets to this point it's doing good work. It's providing processing power for the plugins within protools but I've noticed every once in a while there's some hiccups in regards to changing sample rates and distributing processing evenly over the external processing units. But overall right now I would say it's 90% stable with some room for minor tweaks! DSM2 you're a LEGEND! Come out with a stable firmware for the Titan Ridge and I will definitely make a donation to the cause!

Also not using OpenCore!

Ok, so I finally got my Titan Ridge card in the mail yesterday! Following the guide from Amey Rupji (here) and using DSM2's firmware, I have flashed the card (only the chip with the blue dot) and put at jumper on the THB_C header (3 to 5). I then proceeded to modify my OpenCore configuration to incorporate DSM2's version with Martin LO's version (here) and finally I installed the card in slot 4 of my cMP 5.1 running Mojave. I attached a USB hub / card reader / HDMI interface (with two harddrives plugged into the USB hub) to one of the TB3 ports on the Titan Ridge and booted the cMP. At first glance everything appears to work.
:)
Next step will be to run tests with other pieces of TB3 dependent hardware, I guess.

Thanks to DSM2, Amey Rupji, Martin LO and everybody else here, who have made this possible. You guys rock!

I have martins opencore already installed.
I just flashed and installed my Titan Ridge.
Computer sees the card, but nothing is functional yet.
How do I incorporate dsm2's opencore with Martins?

You need to use the first part of the config.plist that DSM2 provided(concerning Titan Ridge) and inject it into the plist from Martin. Then install the SSDT from DSM2 into the ACPI folder in OpenCore.

Hi guys,
I really admire what you guys are doing here for all of us who are not willing to follow Apples way by dictation when hardware is obsolete but continue to make it compatible.

I am pretty new to this and first of all I apologize if I cannot contribute anything to this discussion.
But maybe you still can help me.
I am planning to get a 4.1 or 5.1 and spice it up to the max so I can use it for photo and video editing.
I informed myself on other sites and went through the almost complete thread and it seems that the only big obstacle for me would be connecting my Apple thunderbolt display to this machine since this mac doesn't officially support it.

There is obviously a workaround by using the titan ridge card and bypassing the system by installing win10 drivers and booting win10 first and then switching to macOS. But you would lose all connections and audio on the thunderbolt display.

What I also read HERE in this thread is - plz correct me if I am wrong:

A way was found how to make thunderbolt possible directly w/o this workaround described by me.

But it is only working on a 7.1 system and not on 5.1.

One of the thread participants is trying to solve this right now, but there is still some way to go over the finish line, right?

Please write me if I missed sth and this issue has finally been solved.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi folks, new here. I have been reading the thread and I just got my titan ridge in the mail and am trying to set it all up....I downloaded the firmware and I am not sure where to install it....Is there somewhere (link please) where there are step by step instructions on doing the firmware? Also I have put the card in slot 4 top slot of my Mac Pro 5,1 3,33 Ghz 12 Core 96Gigs ram blah blahblah....I am running the newest firmware 1.4.4.4.0 or whatever it is called and runing Mojave 10.14.6 Do I have to do some special wiring to set up the card? At this point it is not recognized in slot 4...Thanks for your patience and listening. Peace

Hi all, first just wanted to thanks everyone for sharing their knowledge and support to newbies like me :)
I'm looking to get my macpro 5.1 (6th gen intel xeon X5680 @ 3.33ghz) running with an UAD apollo twin. Been reading through forums to get a better understanding of PCIe cards, flash bios, firmware etc. Now following from ameyrupji Update GC-TitanRidge.md post and his successful mission I'm looking to buy a Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge Card but can't find any on amazon here in the UK, has anyone got any leads? theres some online from America however it would take a whole month to arrive, many thanks

You will properly need to to flash the firmware of the Titan Ridge card with DSM2's firmware, but only the chip with the blue dot. You will also need to bridge pin 3 to pin 5 on the THB_C Header and finally you will need to install Open Core with the correct ACPI to activate the card without having to boot into windows.

I have Martin LO's Opencore and i did as you suggested. I added the info about the titan ridge in the top of the config.plist and then install the SSDT from DSM2 into the ACPI folder in OpenCore. Now I am showing the correct speeds from previous up to 20 Gb/s x2 to up to 40 Gb/s and the correct info about the titan ridge on the system report. My issues is i have yet to be able to connect my monitor to the titan ridge. I do not have a thunderbolt device to test yet but as of now i can't get my monitor to connect to the titan ridge. I have power going to it and the display port connected to the mini display port of the titan. I connect the hdmi from my monitor to the thunderbolt port of the titan and its just black. Any ideas. Am i missing something to change in the congfig.plist? I assume i do not need to bless it again correct? Any help would be appreciated.

Is there an incorrect ACPI? If so how do you know you have the right one?

Any possibility to habe a slot-agnostic ssdt?
I am using my titanridge plugged into a HighPoint 7101 plx switch, and do not have the possibity to connect and use it directly in a slot on the motherboard.

Mine is from factory but how to use without Windows warm boot
So whatcha do is flash the chip with the blue dot on the titan ridge card with DSM2's new firmware. He is right now working out a new one with updates but for now you'll wanna use that. You will also have to connect pins 3&5 on the THB-C Header. Once that happens you'll have to install on Slot 4 of the pcie choices. Some things work. Some things don't on the 5,1s and so that's what everyone's trying to debug atm. For the most part devices can be seen (usually) using a couple of recovery reboots after you first boot.

The card also works in cMP 5.1 using a custom firmware on the card and OpenCore on the Mac. A few quirks still needs to be fixed but we are getting there :)

When I read through the thread I came away with the impression that Thunderbolt storage if it works requires multiple warm boots to finally recognize an external TB drive with the current firmware for the TB card and CoreBoot. Or was my reading incorrect?
