Anyone have tried audio interfaces like Apollo Twin with this card? I really wanted to get that interface but can't use if I can't make it work with this card. Apollo twin has that older version which has it's own power source, so it doesn't need power from TB port.
EDIT: It's been now confirmed that Apollo devices work with this card.

Anybody having issues with installing TB3 Titan Ridge with a USB-C card? My Titan Ridge 2.0 was working fine until I installed Sonnet Allegro USB-C 4-Port PCIe. After a couple of restarts and reseting the NVRAM, it works.

Also, Samsung X5 seems to not work at all.

My system:
Mac Pro 5,1 mid 2010
Titan Ridge 2.0 flashed
macOS Big Sur
OpenCore 0.6.5

I never managed to get a Sonnet 4xUSB-A pcie working with Titan Ridge... I replaced it with a cheap 2xUSB-C card (generic brand) which is working fine.

Can someone please explain one thing. I wanted to buy flashed Titan or Alpine Ridge. It's confirmed that Universal Audio Apollo devices work with these cards.
But what about the interface that takes the power from TB3 port directly? For example newest version Apollo Duo Twin.
Will this card power the interface correctly or I have to add some extra power cable to the card from the motherboard?
There is a mention: "Titan Ridge can supply 100w power (with power cable connected) while Alpine Ridge can supply 36w."
So could someone please explain will this card power up this audio device or I have to use extra power cable from motherboard to this card - to power up the external devices?

Been doing some searching and just wanted to confirm. Is there no support for Antelope Audio devices via thunderbolt? I have the same problem some other users have had where the interface is detected under the thunderbolt tab but I cant get High Sierra to see the audio device. I can only get it to work over USB.

Hi, I‘ve flashed a Titan Ridge (first version not 2.0) with the latest firmware, shorted the pins and enabled OC but it won‘t recognize my external thunderbolt Nvme. Anyone can help?
I have the same issue with Samsung X5. I reviewed the thread and seems that some were able to get it to work early on. But, no one seems to test external NVME drives after the new firmware was shared.

Can anyone please tell me what the name of the connector is called used to bridge pin? I want get the same plug used by the cable and solder the bridge i.e. to make dongle. Or even better, a link to the exact item e.g. on Ali? Don't want to cut the original cable.
Just a loose cable stuck into the lengthy cable inside the case is making me a bit nervous.

I'm confused and have edited the following a couple of times in the process of trail and error experimenting.

I have a flashed V2 Titan Ridge in slot four of a MacPro 5.1 with two pins jumped (e.g. 1&3 on the CCA's connector). When I boot the machine via CoreBoot with SSDT-TBLOT3 disabled I see the card in system information (e.g. both Thunderbolt and USB) and it is able to work with a TB3 device, though hot-plugging doesn't work. That said when I enable SSDT from h9826790's latest 0.6.5 OpenCore package the card doesn't show up. I also tried OFXC's SSDT with no different result, but I think the file is identical to what is included in h9826790's package.

Apparently the SSDT I'm using is not working with the 2.0 TR card. Note I'm running OS-X 10.15 on a dual socket MacPro 5.1. Thoughts?

[Update]

Turns out that if I put a card in slot 3 with the SSDT enabled, the Titan Ridge is not seen. The cards I have tested in slot 3 are either an OWC Accelsior 4M2 or a Caldigit FASATA-6GHU3 (USB3 / SATA). That said reading back through this thread others have had issues with another card in slot 3, though there is a lot of confusion in the conversations where many times someone comes back and says they are doing the same thing without issues. But what I didn't read is how the issue was resolved, where more often than not some other discussion overtook the thread.

Does anyone have insight into getting the Titan Ridge card working with a SSDT when there is another card in slot 3?

[Update 2]

Swapped the cards around putting the Titan Ridge in slot 2 for now. Attached is the SSDL for slot 2.

What ever happened to the company that was supposed to bring out a card with everything baked in that didn't require OpenCore, etc?

Hi everyone. I've successfully flashed my Titan Ridge Rev 1.0 with the latest modified firmware using this guide. Before flashing the card, it was not even being detected on our Ryzen PC with ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero, X570 motherboard. But after the flashing I was able to see the card in device manager and install the driver.

I've seen that the TB_Header pin shorting is a must for PC. If I remove it, that card is not detected.

I was able to use the DP in and out ports but could not get the thunderbolt ports to work. Tried to connect:
  • Samsung Portable X5 Thunderbolt NVMe SSD
  • Samsung T7
  • Samsung T5
...and all of them failed. Nothing changes in device manager. SSDs do get power but they are not detected. Used both thunderbolt cable and USB-C cable.

There are also some findings I'd like to share with you. The card only works up to 1.41.914.0 TB driver. Anything above this puts the card in code 43 state (Tried 987, 1030, 1054).

Am I missing something here? Does the modded card work only on Mac?

It basically installed itself. I did go to the website and install the Titan Ridge (Rev 01) drivers. I did install the (Rev 02) drivers to and didn't seem to make any difference.

GC-TITAN RIDGE (rev. 1.0) Support | Motherboard - GIGABYTE U.S.A.

I see that you have Apple Thunderbolt Driver. I'll give it a try.

I am using a USB3 hub connected to the Thunderbolt Dock. When I read your comments and connect USB3 directly to Titan Ridge, I can't sleep. Sorry for not checking this part in advance.

One interesting fact is that with the "TitanRidgeNVM23-E64Fr" the Thunderbolt dock can't sleep either. (A symptom of waking up immediately after sleeping). It won't sleep if any device is connected, not just USB3. On the other hand, with "DESIGNARE-Z390-NVM33-Elias64Fr" the Thunderbolt Dock sleeps very well. The USB3 hub connected to the Thunderbolt Dock also sleeps well.

Thanks for checking.??

I'm interested in a similar Thunderbolt dock / USB3 hub setup. Which dock and hub are you using successfully in your setup?

Thunderbolt dock uses "Kensington SD5000T". USB3.0 is using "NEXT-331TC-PD". "NEXT-331TC-PD" seems to be sold only in Korea. I am currently using a USB3.0 hub plugged into the Kensington SD5000T.

With DESIGNARE-Z390-NVM33-Elias64Fr I find that plugging an Apple TB3/TB2 or Apple USB3 adapter directly into the Titan Ridge prevents sleep. Same for a USB3.1 device directly plugged into the Titan Ridge, where the Mac wakes directly after entering sleep.

Apparently the SD5000T is no longer sold as new. [edit] I found a SD5200T for sale for a discounted price at a local shop. Kensington says SD5000T is Mac only, where SD5200T supports Mac and Windows. Will the SD5200T sleep? I guess I will have to test it.

The Next hub was tested by the FCC for sale in the US, but I agree it doesn't appear to be offered for sale in the US.

Do you have power connected to the Titan Ridge power adapter?

No power is connected to the Titan Ridge. I couldn't test the Thunderbolt monitor because I didn't have a Thunderbolt monitor. This part needs to be checked by people who have Thunderbolt monitors (using Thunderbolt dock..) After 10 days of testing, the USB 3.0 hub connected to Thunderbolt dock has been sleeping very well so far.

P.S. - I tried connecting the DP port to the Thunderbolt dock. The 4k 60hz monitor is recognized normally. USB 2.0 (built-in Bluetooth USB data hub) modification allows USB recovery mode booting with a USB 3.0 hub connected to the Thunderbolt dock. This means that USB boot via USB 3.0 hub is possible without connecting to the cMP body.

Hey guys, I need some perspective as I struggle with my Gigabyte Titan Ridge rev 2 PCIe card.

I flashed it successfully with the firmware "TitanRidgeNVM23-E64Fr.bin", jumpered my pins 3 to 5, and got the card to start under Catalina and Mojave. In System Report, the card shows up under Thunderbolt, and USB shows USB3.1.

View attachment 956181

The only USB-C and/or Thunderbolt devices I have on hand are (1) external SSD enclosure with dual SSDs (USB-C), (2) Pegasus2 R4 connected to TB2->TB3 adaptor. I've also tried the card with (3) charging my 16" MBP, which works, (4) connecting my iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPad Pro 12.9" via USB-C. Charging works, but Catalina doesn't detect my devices in Music/Finder. My external SSD lights up, then the power LED goes black. When plugged into my 16" MBP, the light behaviour is similar at the start (solid light on for 2s or so), but it would then flicker green if it works. On my MP5,1, it stays black; no volume mounts.

The funkiest behaviour is reserved for my Pegasus2 R4. At first, after installing the Promise Drivers and Utility, and using Kext Wizard to install the "PromiseSTEX.kext" file, my Catalina refuses to start - black screen after Apple logo. I then reboot into Mojave to "sudo rm" the incriminating kext from my Catalina volume. Prior to attempting the kext install, connecting the RAID box to either USB-C ports 1 or 2 causes my display to black out before my RAID box loads (orange light to blue, disk flashing blue), and then enter an infinite loop of reboot-error.screen.press.key.or.wait-reboot weirdness. After I removed the kext, Catalina strangely recognises the RAID box without any screen blackout, and I see this.

All seems to be good right? NO! No volume is loaded...woe is me.

I'm honestly stuck now. I wonder if it's a problem with my config.plist (but I had used @Amey Rupji guide on Github to the letter). I had merged the contents of the guide's OC EFI zip with my existing OpenCore instance.

Any ideas are welcomed! Anyone who has successfully tweaked his rev 2 card to work; I'd love to get in touch and get pointers.
Good Day how are you today? I am in need of some help. I have purchased and installed the Titan Ridge TB3.
I have purchased a Flash Titan Ridge and installed, I have the jumper in 3 and 5 but that is the only wire I have in place. I am using the Titan Rige for a Universal Audio Interface specificially the bus powered Arrow. It installs but cuts in and out I think it is due to power. or possible some other issue in the Bios. I will attached a screen shot as my Titan Ridge Card should say Apple Thunderbolt after being flashed properly correct? I am willing to Venmo or CashApp anyone who can help me solve this. I appreciate your time and consideration!

A sleep solution for the Titan Ridge 2 interface....

Pin 11 on the PCIe bus is WAKE#. It was clear to me that when the MacPro went to sleep and immediately woke back up, someone on the controller was asserting the WAKE# line to cause the system to wake back up. After a few attempts at other solutions I decided to investigate modifying the card. In fact on the Titan Ridge 2.0 card there is a zero ohm jumper from the contact for pin 11 to something on the card. Removing the jumper prevents the card from waking the system. See the picture included below.

While I have limited testing, this mod prevents immediate wakeup on sleep with either USB or Thunderbolt devices plugged into the card.

With a Thunderbolt drive attached via Apple's TB3/TB2 adapter, the drive is seen on hot plug but not usable until booting with the drive attached to the machine. I believe this is normal for this interface and not effected by this mod. Putting the system to sleep and manually waking it, the drive is still present and usable.

While I'm still testing with an Apple USB-C to USB3.0 adapter the system will enter sleep without waking itself up.

Note that waking the system on a hot plug / unplug event is clearly disabled given the card no longer has a means of waking the system with WAKE# disconnected. I think for most use cases this isn't a problem. If fact I can't remember ever wanting this to work on a real Apple Thunderbolt interface...

A sleep solution for the Titan Ridge 2 interface....
Very nice! I'll definitely try this.

Update: This is great! The same 0Ω resistor is present on the GC-TITAN RIDGE rev 1. I removed it, and sleep now seems to work perfectly with USB3 devices connected. Thanks!

I wonder if this was part of the modifications alluded to in post #1,246...

I'm a Korean. I am learning a lot from you. Sorry for not speaking English.?? I am leaving a comment through the translator. Viewed both OpenCore and comments. I have tested various firmwares. Try this firmware. I solved the problem that I can't sleep with this firmware.

Anyone have tried audio interfaces like Apollo Twin with this card? I really wanted to get that interface but can't use if I can't make it work with this card. Apollo twin has that older version which has it's own power source, so it doesn't need power from TB port.

I there,

I have a question about the Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge 2.
In my cMP5.1 this card works as it should. But now, I tried to run this Card in my HP Z620.
I have changed the SSDT for the MacPro to my Z620, the card shows correctly and Thunderbolt appears to be working. USB3.1 however not, it shows as USB3.0 Bus and the two ports are not activated, does not show up in the IOReg.
I think, this is related to the fact, hat the MSR 0xe2 register is blocked. So far, I haven't found a solution to unlock this. The Z620 UEFI has no CFG-Lock config. Is there a possibility to use the USB3.1 ports without unlocked E2 register?

I have the Titan Ridge 1 that I flashed with the modified nvm23, everything works great in MacOS but I have started using Windows10 lately and I can't seem to get it to work. I have tried several drivers and fought to get anywhere. I finally have Thunderbolt Control center added but it says my thunderbolt controller needs a firmware update. Has anyone run into this issue?
