The FireWire issue is strange. If USB and Ethernet work, then FireWire should too. All three are PCIe devices connected to Thunderbolt.
Can you show a screenshot of the PCI tab in System Information.app? The info for the FireWire controller may tell us why it doesn't work.

You can also try the script at https://gist.github.com/joevt/e3cd4ff08aae06279134969c98ca3ab7 to list all the PCI device info (including PCI bridges, current link width and link speed)

The following should dump all the Thunderbolt info (works on Macs that have discrete Thunderbolt controller) - it shows all the devices in the Thunderbolt chain:
ioreg -iflrk TBTPCI_LC > ioreg_Thunderbolt.txt
I'm away from the studio all weekend now, but I'll check that out when I get back. To be honest, I'm not overly fussed; I only have one FireWire connection I need – albeit a pretty important one, all the audio A/D! – and the Mac Pro has four ports in it already! Will still be interesting to check, though…

Does anyone have a flashed titan ridge card working in both macOS and windows? Even just installing the thunderbolt drivers in windows makes it impossible to boot with the card installed.
I'm interested to know as well because i want to buy one soon...... worried it'll not work with windows 10.

Yes, It works great for both Windows 10 and Mac OS. I use dual Apple Thunderbolt Display's with RX5700xt and after booting into MacOS I can reboot into Windows 10 and the card works fine as long as I don't unplug the monitors. If I do, I need to reboot back into MacOS and replug the monitor to get it to appear again, then I can reboot back into Windows 10.
It works great otherwise. Both displays and usb type c drives work are are detected correctly.

What version of windows & thunderbolt drivers are you using?

That's a little more clear. But it seems you are connecting the Apple Thunderbolt Display to GC-ALPINE RIDGE instead of GC-TITAN RIDGE? I think this has been done before and doesn't require Windows.

Do any of the other devices on the Apple Thunderbolt Display work (USB, audio, Firewire, Ethernet, Camera) in macOS or Windows?

I have this exact setup and I'm not able to get the Apple Thunderbolt Display to light up.

Here are the details:
  • Mac Pro 5,1.
  • Pre-Flashed Gigabyte Alpine Ridge with pins 1 and 3 jumped installed in PCIe slot 4.
  • Radeon RX 580 outputting DisplayPort --> Alpine Ridge mini-DisplayPort IN.
  • Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt 3 --> Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter.
  • Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter --> Apple Thunderbolt Display
I'm just getting a blank screen.

Oddly, when I got to the macOS System Profiler, I see it recognizes the Apple Thunderbolt Display in the Thunderbolt panel but nothing else appears in displays, etc.

Do you recall where you saw confirmation that this even works?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Been working on this for a quite a while now. This setup was supposed to be a Christmas gift but could not get it working in time.

I initially ordered the Titan Ridge with no success prior to ordering the Alpine Ridge.

I also ordered a Startech Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter just in case that helps. Arrives Friday.

Thanks so much in advanced!

Joshua

This is pretty much my exact setup. But with one big difference; I am using the GC TITAN-RIDGE card, which is the one I was always told would work for this type of thing.

I presume you have already followed all the Opencore instructions to modify the Mac's EFI boot? Do you have the Thunderbolt Display plugged in at boot, or do you plug it in after?

Hi Everybody and happy new year :) My setup is:
cMP 4.1/5.1
Flashed Titan Ridge
Apollo thunderbolt soundcard and a UA Satellite thunderbolt card (connected on the apollo).
Open core 0.5.9 and mac os Mojave

I need 3 boot in order to have a fully working system with tb devices. I'm just wondering if there are any updates on this in order to avoid at least one boot....

Thanks

I just read this entire thread. What a saga. Lots of respect to the main players (you/we know who you are) and the way this community manages to evolve through trial, error, tolerance, acknowledgement of misconduct and the ability to (almost always) come to good terms. No Windows, no Open Core. I look forward to the resulting Titanic Bridge 5,1 ...come out, come out, wherever you are!

Are those 3 reboots needed specifically for UA interfaces? I have RME UFX+ and I only need to reboot one time (after initial boot) to get it recognized...

The reason behind the third reboot is that I have just bought a UA Satellite in addition to the Apollo soundcard. So if i don't need the satellite (with 4 dsp) 2 reboot are fine otherwise i need an additional one in order to see also the UA satellite...

So:
1) first boot: no tb devices recognized
2) second boot: ua apollo tb is connected
3) third boot: ua apollo and ua satellite are connected

Yes I think it's about UAD drivers recognition.
For me, it's more :
First boot : Gigabyte as Vendor name
Second Boot : Apple inc. replace Gigabyte as Vendor name so the UAD drivers detect now the soundcard.

Hello, what you mean by Radeon boost? Hardware acceleration?
And, what package mods did you do to Martin's? It's for Big Sur? Catalina?
And you are not using Martin's SSDT in Catalina?
Thanks))

Hi I've got a similar setup, without the satellite - I'm using opencore 6.4 and it boots first time with the apollo working now. - You need to follow this https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/activate-amd-hardware-acceleration.2180095/post-28255048 - and make sure you enable the thunderbolt in the config file - there are videos that help explain.
