The actual Spigen slim armor is up on Amazon. I ordered one on Sunday and it already shipped even though it says ships 4/10.

Its hard to find a seller that will ship to Australia on Amazon, and then the shipping is too much.

Ordered a black Case-mate barely there off ebay here, just wanted something thin for the back with a bit of grip. The included case is to PU feeling for me. I had a spigen armour for my 5S and i dropped it from 6ft while using my shoulder to hold the phone against my ear, onto tiles and not a mark on the phone, just a few pits in the case:) Wont do that again:rolleyes:

DroidLife; HTC One (M8) Review
http://www.droid-life.com/2014/04/07/htc-one-m8-review/

Battery life sucks on the M8 ?

HTC claims that the new One (M8) could see upwards of 40% better battery life over last year’s M7, but I’m not I’m buying it. I saw average battery life in my testing on the 2,600mAh battery that wasn’t necessarily greatly improved over last year’s One. My testing typically includes multiple days in a row of nothing but 4G LTE, followed by a few with WiFi mixed in. On 4G LTE-only days, my phone was almost always begging for a charger after 10-12 hours of use and around 3 hours of screen-on time.

Per this review they say battery life is average at best, and not that good, only getting 3h On Screen time, and overall just like 10h - 12h of total battery life on the phone, and with WiFi on they get 14 hours total battery life.

I thought all the real world reviews of people, and other sites were raving about the battery life on this new One M8 ? getting like 5h to 6h On Screen time ?

Battery life is good, but not great in the couple of days I've used my One. I'm usually plugged into a charger, but yesterday I kept it unplugged the whole day. From around 7:30am to 9pm I had around 20 battery left, that's with BT streaming podcasts for a couple of hours, watched the Simpsons streamed on Hulu, a couple of phone calls and some light browsing. Not sure what my screen time was though as I couldn't find that in the menu.

The "Garden" state
I am consistently getting 15+ hours off the charger, and that's a full day for me.

Typical day:

-Phone off the charger anytime between 4-6am (depends on when the baby wakes up and whether I remember to plug it back in after grabbing it for the middle of the night wake up)

-Push Gmail all day

-Bluetooth to and from work in my car; mostly just connected, might be used for about 30min of voice

-Streaming from Amazon cloud player in the car

-Texting all day (say 20-50 texts depending on the day)

-FB, Twitter, etc

-Reader+ syncing every 30 minutes

-say about 10 photos taken over the course of the day

-Light gaming and web browsing

I've had the M8 for a little over a week, and it typically is at about 30% when I plug it in. Yesterday I ran a bunch of updates and played more games, and it was at 15% for the first time.

Overall I am exceptionally happy, it has been a long time since i had a phone that could handle a whole day without a charge in the middle.

I'm thinking of buying this case, please post some of your experiences when you receive it, like how the fit is and how the buttons are. I'd really appreciate it :)

Anyone know what the differences between the Unlocked and Developer phones are? The ones sold on the HTC website? Kind of confusing between that and trying to figure out the LTE bands on each model.

I almost never trust the user screenshots of battery life. They could have the battery saving option enabled, brightness at 15%, etc.

Makes sense that this guy had average battery life if he was almost always on 4G.

Come on now, the camera certainly is not horrible. If every camera must be as good as the current best or nothing then how did people survive with cameras in phones a few generations ago. I guarantee I can go back and see people raving about how incredible the iphone 4(any flagship from years past) camera is and I would wager any of these new flagships are well past that. Just because it isnt the best doesnt mean it is bad by any stretch

Agreed. I can accept it if the camera is service-able. Now on something like the iPhone, I know I am going to get a great camera and I expect that from Apple. But on other devices, as long as the camera is good enough then I'm fine. I've taken a look at these photos taken with the new HTC One, and I'm surprised how good they are considering its only 4MP. The Moto X camera does look better, though.

Now if you're a hardcore camera enthusiast, then no the HTC One camera won't do it for you. But the photos look good enough to be able enjoy using the camera and uploading them online. I wouldn't rule out a phone if I thought the camera quality was acceptable, even if I did wish it were higher quality.

Remember the Nexus 4? Now that was a terrible camera.

Which carrier? It is an excellent phone with great build quality.

I'm with AT&T. I ended up just paying the full retail price which was a bit hard to swallow at first but I'm very happy with this device.

I would also like to know how to see the screen-on time on battery in Sense. Can't seem to find this option.

It's simply a position of personal opinion of what is 'acceptable'.... And how on a scale of factors/ things you utilise on your smartphone how important a camera is on that scale.

My time with the M7 told me that the camera was not acceptable. Even factoring out the low mega pixel image struggling to capture detail, the fact it nearly always over exposed images in normal daylight conditions just was too much to just ignore or live with...

I don't expect the moon in a stick, but I do believe in a world of flagship phones that if your paying $800-900 (equivalent pricing here) for a device then every element within that new hardware should indeed be an improvement over previous generation hardware.

Whilst Apple haven't increased megapixels every year they have dramatically improved their camera sensor technology, the new HTC M8 if anything is worse than last years model with the removal of OIS.

As much as I love sense, as much as I admire the hardware & build quality, I can not accept such a weak camera, and the truth really is that HTC really didn't have to use this. When even their mid range Desire 816 has a 13mp camera, the decision to utilise the flawed ultrapixel technology after consistent negative feedback (even in their HTC Elevate forums) is utterly ridiculous.

The focusing tricks with the second sensor could have been achieved in software as proven by Nokia and others who already do this albeit with vastly bigger and more detailed images.

I do accept that a camera for social media is ok for some, the fact of the matter is is that a social media snapper should be the low & mid range camera choice, not the 'flagship'.

And at no point should the hardware in a flagship ever be of a lesser quality than the mid range device beneath it.

I can make do with the camera on the M8, not the speaker on the S5. It is PATHETIC for a flagship that costs as much as it does.

Pick one's poison. :)

Except when the user has enough work or play to do on the device.

Not real sure how that matters. No matter how much work I have my schedule is never completely fully, I can always fit in a few hours to setup my phone, even if that means not posting on macrumors to make time

True, but that's what's so frustrating for many of us. If HTC had just took the 816 camera and swapped it with the M8's they likely would have had 'THE' android handset of 2014. It was a compromise forced onto customers that really was needless.

Just imagine the M8 with a no gimmicks but great camera, it's almost phone nirvana....

And that's what's so frustrating there was no need for 'almost'.
But they chose to give us 'Almost'......

Yeah, I can see where you are coming from. And you also said you're in Ireland, right? I'm moving to Australia soon, so people like us definitely need a camera that is up to par. Like you, I want to be able to take good pictures of the beautiful scenery.

Still trying to pick out my smartphone, but I'm getting close.

Is that from the S4? Something makes me want to go with the Nexus 5 despite its battery issues, and do my best tweaking it. Other than that, I've really only been considering the Moto X and iPhone 5s. Very few phones appeal to me right now. Kind of have an easy selection being in America at the moment, though.

Small size on a screen that looks great but when you go big you can tell it is a phone and doesnt look good. I would guess most people though would never care since it will be a small print of online somewhere in a smaller size

It's the lower 5mp image for sharing, the bigger 19mp one was too big a file size for an attachment. The 1520 saves a lower res version for sharing and the bigger res version either as a jpg or a raw dng file for printing.

I do....

Will upload some to a server or such and post link at later date, I have a 50mp Hassleblad that I use in the studio here for portraits and such .. However shots from that are 100mb each

Also have a Canon EOS 600D ...

But other than using them for jobs / client work I tend to not take them when I go walking or go climbing.

The thought of taking a €16k camera and €3k plus lense up a mountain scares me too much. So the Hassleblad hardly ever leaves the studio, and the 600D and it's lenses are at times impractical to carry (weight and size) with me, so I do like a decent camera in my smartphone as it's the thing I will reach for for capturing that impulse snap...
