Congrats! Let's us know what you think!

Will do.... So far it's not much of a surprise, with my thoughts pretty much as they were before getting it. I do like the feel of it in the hand and for me I have no issue with power button on the top.

I do wish they had used capacitive buttons rather than on-screen ones.

It was just by circumstance that I got offered it at low price when I took my s4 in to be repaired when I bent the sim pins ejecting my sim to put back in the 1520. Saw it in the shop with price tag of €529 (€100 off regular pay as you go price) as I asked to use it and they said they would offer me it at a good price. I said ok what's the price and when he said €350 I thought great value. If I don't like it I can sell it on for €400 easily on adverts here.

Mac, keep us posted!

I wasn't convinced when it first came out but after some reviews and aside from the camera, everyone seems to like the phone.

Damn, if you keep it I'll have to get one. Think you will get the dot view case if you do keep it?

Wow, that was $514 AUD, You wouldn't get a discount like that here. You still getting the S5?

No I rang vodafone and cancelled yesterday. I couldn't justify €300 + €35 for 24 months as an impulse purchase that didn't feel significantly different or faster than the S4 GPE for me. I think three phones at any given point is enough :)

What? Wait, what?

Still don't understand how they could offer you the new M8 (725€ where I live) for just 350€!! Doesn't make sense! What kind of shop is that? Did you trade in your S4?

Seriously this is mind-blowing :eek::eek:

350€ for the M8! Get me one too! :D:D

No, seriously, I still don't understand it :eek:

I assume someone must have traded in their M8 likely bought as a carrier upgrade .... They didn't want it, but yeah still amazing they offered me it that cheap.

No I didn't trade in my S4, it's still being repaired. €50 for a new sim tray repair....

On another topic, you get warranty for the S4 GE in Europe considering it's a US phone,? I thought devices from the US don't get warranty here. Maybe that's why it costs 50€ to repair it?

I'm curious because I'm always thinking of importing a phone from the US, but then I'm worried I don't get warranty.

I don't know how Google handles the warranty for gpe phones but if the warranty is from Samsung your out of luck with a us phone on eu, the only Samsung products that I think have international warranty are computer / laptops.

Of course you can always send it for repair if you go to the states :)

Some night shot comparisons between the Xperia Z2 and the HTC One M8. Well, these wouldn't be fair comparisons because they were taken 11 days apart and it was a full moon tonight. Also I didn't stand exactly where took these photos either but you can get a general idea.

iPhone 5s owner here. How bad is the camera compared to the 5s? Everything else about this phone sounds amazing.

Not bad at all really. It's not nearly as good when it comes to cropping or zooming in, but due to the wide angle lenses the shots look a bit more impressive right off the bat, the low-light shots come out better, and the photos are quite comparable before zooming in.

What do you do with the photos you take on the 5S.

If all you do is share them on social media and keep them to view on your phone, then the M8 is perfectly enjoyable and the ZOE features and such make this a great little snapper for twitter / instagram and Facebook.

If however you have any intention of getting them printed out or setting as your desktop wallpaper (on a big screen) the results may disappoint....

Macro (close up pictures) are very good, but the camera does struggle in bright sunlight conditions, and HDR mode in particular can still over saturate things.

The U-Focus effect is ok at times, the silly background effects are absolutely the most pointless things ever with very poor results from them, and the Seasons effect is just mind boggingly dumb it beggars belief that they thought it a worthy addition at all.

You can take some nice photos - especially of things that are near to you whether that be animals , plants, cars, people...... Where the camera falls apart is in landscape photography where the lack of detail clarity / fidelity hampers any image and the dodgy at the moment HDR mode (can be fixed with software) doesn't help matters.

If you can accept a camera with compromises, and if you take a lot of pictures of friends, your food and like taking shots in lower light conditions - the HTC one M8 will be serviceable (but never excel), and it shouldn't hamper your enjoyment of an otherwise really nice phone.

If however you do like going out hiking / walking / beach / landscape scenery - then I would suggest you might want to look elsewhere or accept that you won't be taking great shots of those with the M8.

Mac, patiently waiting for your final review. Although, I get the feeling it won't be your daily driver.

Why doesn't anyone talk about the audio? Doesn't anyone use their smartphone device as their daily driver for mobile music??? Understandable not for movies for the latter question but at least for that in a pinch I think one would do OK.

Just fondled one of these in person, my brother gets all the latest phones before they are released and has had one for a while. It feels pretty awesome, I was impressed. I was less impressed with the bezel size, and especially the onscreen buttons. Nice little phone though.

Yeah personally if I listen to music from my mobile it's usually with headphones, but the M8's audio is lovely. It's not louder than any other mobile, but it is more balanced and has much better overall tonal quality.

One quick thing I must say about the device is ...... boy is it lightning fast, and its memory usage / management is as good as my stock android S4 GPE.

I ended up returning my M8. It's truly a FANTASTIC device...but the camera really just didn't feel up to par (for my needs, lots of landscape shots) and like always, missed the integration of the Apple ecosystem. But anyone looking for a amazingly built phone with excellent performance, speakers, and great features, the M8 will be great. Sad to see it go but couldn't justify the off-contract price for me.
