That's awesome! I got to try out SYNC3 a few months ago on a test display. So much better than the MFT crap from before. The app support off iOS is fantastic.
Yeah, there was a lot of talk about people waiting for '16s, especially when they were clearing '15s at 0%, and I saw more than a few folks say if you're into the electronics, the Sync3 is an order-of-magnitude better. After I read some comparisons and found out the Perf Package was available in convertibles for MY16, that kind of sealed the deal
Some people were squawking about the addition of the turn indicators in the hood vents, but they're _really_ subtle, and honestly a car like this has a pretty long and interesting history, so I don't mind little homage design details.
Even with all the functionality of Sync3, I like that the AC and audio has hard buttons (console and steering wheel) for common functions, and the Sync is just for extended controls, customization, apps, etc. There's another really slick little display tucked in between the two primary gauges, it's small color/high res, has all of the car related controls: lighting (and color), indicators for driving mode, tons of additional gauges (head temp, AIT, TPS)
Funny enough with all the tech onboard and at my disposal, I can't program the Home Link. We don't have an actual remote any longer
Apparently you first have to program it for the particular brand using the remote, then use the opener "sync" (a little button on the motor assembly) to sync up the codes - so I understand if I can just get my hands on a Genie brand remote for like 5 minutes, I can get this resolved.
Same thing for all the EXX BMWs. Remove the clutch delay valve and the feeling is a lot more natural and you have total control over it.
I want to say my Z06 had it too[?] It was so modded, I forgot some of the smaller things, but I seem to remember rooting around under the drivers dash area with vise grips and a screw driver ...
That's absolutely gorgeous! It sounds like you're having a blast with it, too.
I don't know why modern makers think that they have to keep making the clutch pedal "better." It's probably the single most important part of a manual transmission, and to me having it be responsive and have a good feel is far ahead of it being "easy" to press or any other of the tricks done today. Hydraulic clutches make like(and walking after driving) a lot easier than mechanical clutches, but aside from that I want something as simple as I can get.
Fortunately, at least in your case, it was easy to over-ride.
From what I was able to gather based on some conversations owners had at Ford design/engineer events, it's sort of a requirement (assuming the reports aren't BS) for it to be a certain effort level, but the non-linear feel was the real problem, not so much the "light" feeling. Yeah, it was so simple, there's not even a fastener, it just holds in place with tension - it's almost as if by design it's easily removed (not unlike the CAGS/skip-shift in Corvettes)
I am definitely loving the mix of the full black exterior with the premier Redline interior, the leather is super soft, it seems like a no brainer upgrade, even if you're going black - the door inserts, seats, dash, armrest is all softer touch and has nice contrast stitching. The front seats are also heated and cooled (though that's not specific to the Premier interior).
I mean, it's not an interior like you'd see on a $100K car (er, except for the GT-R that has an Altima interior
), but it's very good. The PP dash (vs. the premium dash that it replaces is very cool, it's turned aluminum, has a darker tint, and the two extra center gauges are a nice touch). My biggest design gripe would be the chrome/shiny bits: door pulls, shifter surround, a few other pieces - it looks like the new GT350 has a brushed finished on those parts, so I could myself swapping them for GT350 OEM pieces.
