The Photo of the SsangYong Actyon is the most obscure looking vehicle Ever. In the front, It literally looks like it has a Lincoln style Grill, Chrysler PT Cruiser wheels with International Semi headlamps in a Chrysler Pacifica body, but the rear end looks like an attached Older style Dodge Durango body/tail-lamps. And that top spoiler? Absolute monstrosity.
Isn't it strange? It's like it could have been a perfectly reasonable-looking SUV if the visual details were done just a little differently. All those taillights need is a slightly different size or placement; maybe the grille could be saved with a different angle. It could have been both unique and attractive, too.

Part of me really wants to actually drive the Actyon to see what it’s like. Let alone actually see the inside of it being how massive it looks. That specific model Appears to be the size of a Lincoln Navigator. Apparently in Australia there is another version known as SsangYong Tradie. The Powertrain can be offered in a Turbo Diesel or 2.3 Petrol.

Any thoughts on the new Netflix Sleeper Cars series? Watched the commercial a short while ago.

You mean you don't want to look like the coolest cat in the state with your wife and three kids in a sweet, primo Murano cabriolet or the Evoque cabriolet? You know you've made it in life when you drive one of those puppies down the road and people stare at you in awe. Yeah, that's it. Awe.

Don't have a Netflix account, and I've forgotten my sister's account password. I got caught (but not penalized) by my ISP the last time I downloaded some Grand Tour episodes outside of Amazon Prime (ahem), so I've been a little gun shy about getting up to speed on my favorite car shows.

Any Alfa Romeo Giulia owners in here? Thoughts anyone?

It taunts me.
Based on the ones I have sat in and the reviews I see, the interiors and tech are not quite up to snuff. They're the best driving cars in their class, but they do lack some things you would expect from cars in that price range. Also, reliability might be an issue.

Not a bad car. Long term, the 4 cyl. engines are reliable and they don't seem to crop up issues in other applications. The 6 cyl. turbo is worrisome not only because of forced induction but it's a modern turbo by Alfa... That said, the cars have very good handling for what they are.

I'll say this. If Alfa offered a 120,000 mile or 8 year, bumper to bumper warranty covering the car and the drivetrain, no questions asked, with a servicing plan like a modern Ferrari, I'd go for either model.

I haven't driven many modern cars that offer such a tight grip and taut feeling in both mild and sharp turns and curves. If you're older, it used to be old vehicles with more mechanical means that induced that feeling like you were about to fall off a cliff but the car was holding on for dear life and still trotting on forward.

If given a variety of choices, I'd be hard pressed to go with the Alfa. It isn't all there despite being rather well appointed. But for something fun and reliving the genius driving of my youth (see: incredibly stupid and dangerous), you bet your ass it would be my top pick.

I haven't even watched the last few years of Top Gear or started and finished the Grand Tour. I got maybe a half hour into the first episode and decided to put it off until later. That's how most of the shows on our Netflix account go.
[doublepost=1521769084][/doublepost]Or you could do the current American pastime and shove in an LS engine where it doesn't belong in a small sports coupe. Admittedly, that is much more fun. And the look on strangers' faces is priceless. The Giulia isn't a particularly handsome car either.

It would take a lifetime bumper to bumper/powertrain warranty with unlimited rentals of the same model of car you own to get me to buy an Alfa/FCA product. I hate saying that too because some FCA products are attractive.

Do you watch Hoovies Garage on youtube and see what he calls Project Apollo where he slapped an LS2 into a 911 after blowing up the original flat 6?

Oh, you're one of those people. Doesn't really matter. Some dealers (most here) will give you a car to drive around. Doesn't have to be the same brand either. I've joked about the benefits of buying a modern Italian, emphasis on Italian, or British car.

No, and I have no idea who Hoovie is. I don't really pay attention to car YouTubers because:

1) They make clickbait videos.
2) I don't have time to watch/listen to some 20 or 30 something whine about their life, job or whatever.
3) I don't like vloggers at all and think social media icons are a sham and unneeded.
4) I've yet to come across anyone who I'd want to watch on a regular basis.
5) You have some incredibly annoying blokes like that one numpty who does the stupid wave and goes "Hi fellas I'm..." something-something and no one cares, bud. They're watching the video for the car only. Not what you've done this week or if you found Jesus in your porridge.

Once in a full moon, I'll carve out half an hour of my day to watch a Farah video. My YouTube using habits haven't changed much since I discovered the service before Google bought them. I search for stuff. I don't use subscriptions though I may have some, I don't know how to use the browse function and don't care to learn, and some other stuff. There were some really good sketch duos on YouTube back in the day. There was one in particular that was hilarious but they had a falling out and the channel shuttered.

Edit: I did watch someone shove a K engine into an old 911. That was neat.

I am not really that type of person. When my Camaro went in to get the headliner replaced, I got a Malibu with the 1.5T engine. Didn't mind.

I was purposely being ridiculous in what would get me to be able to tolerate the inevitable FCA quality issues. Been burned by Chrysler products way too much to give them another chance.

And I agree with you on youtube overall. I can't stand the clickbait titles. When watching car videos, it's either Engineering Explained, Scotty Kilmer, Doug Demuro, every day driver, etc. My new favorite though is savagegeese. He can be very dry in presentation, but explains things in detail well in his car reviews and is fairly balanced.

I was wondering what happened with your headliner. Popped up in my head a few days ago and I forgot to ask you. I thought the headliner in those things was alcantara or is that an option?

Fair enough. I've been burned by brands people deem reliable and wouldn't give them a chance now. Especially with their current decisions.

I've come across Engineering Explained videos but they're too slow to follow. Doug does entertaining videos from time to time, but it's mostly a pass from me. I've watched a few Geese videos. Very dry, as you pointed out, and the humor is subtle. I did watch the Zl1 video, actually, and the GS F and a few others. I watched most of what was probably the RC F video and I chuckled at some of the subtle snipes they made at Lexus for putting out that boat.

Chris Harris when he still did YouTube was pretty interesting. I think I like his work because of his racing background and he isn't really one for BS. Though he always came across like he'd done a line or two of coke before producing a segment or he has a very small bladder. I've caught some clips of this year's Top Gear and he seems more relaxed.

The headliner was sagging.

Nah, only the SS 1LE/ZL1/ZL1 1LE get the alcantara bits, but that is only on dash, seats, steering wheel, and shifter/boot. The headliner is just the standard cloth type.

Yeah those are fair critiques of those guys. But I do enjoy the technical aspect of engineering explained and savagegeese. Demuro for creative/entertaining reviews. I also like Chris Harris and was excited when he was selected as a host for Top Gear. I couldn't get past episode 1 of the new group due to that loud mouth idiot. But I caught episode 1 of the new season with just Harris, LeBlanc, and the other guy and it is much improved.

I know that. I meant what did you do in the end?

Chris Evans? He's been panned for the better part of his career. You either like him as a person or hate his very existence. He's always given me the creeps. We'll see what skeletons he has in his closet after he knocks off.

This was back in December 2011. Hopefully I'll get back there soon.

Meh. I was in Korea a lot back then and the Actyon was fine. It was the Rodius that always made me do a double take and wonder WTF were they thinking whenever I saw it. Surely you would have seen the Rodius while you were out there as well.

That might be the ugliest car I've ever seen! What's going on with the boot? Looks like they added the glass and extended roof as an after thought.

Doug DeMuro has a heavy following, but he is also heavily supported through advertisements through many sponsors. To me, he Was more practical in the beginning, but sometimes I think he has been reviewing cars that are not in touch with modern society, but interesting to watch nonetheless.

I find the genuine, most in-depth reviews and hands-on for a virtual tour of a car, I would say SaabKyle04 is the best, aside from his annoying voice. But he literally dissects every facet of the car and will touch base on everything you would want to know for your next car purchase during his reviews, which also indicative with his strong subscriber list.

There are so many car reviewers on YouTube, they all have to try to make their YouTube channels quip and unique, sometimes I think they go overboard and are desperate to gain views with Clickbait thumbnails, which I believe affects their credibility. I will say though, YouTube definitely has given me some knowledge on my last two car purchases that Educated me on features that I liked that I was not Aware of prior.

Almost complete. Underbody of the hood being painted. The shop actually used a black primer, so in case of a Stonechip, it won’t show ‘white’ under the black paint, which will blend much better. A little bit more expensive to use black primer, but worth it with an expensive hood.

Final stages. Delivery hopefully on Sunday for install.

Here is UK they are just known as coupe though.

We have taken on this project, a 1998 F2 automatic, of which only 27 remain.

Both tips have rotten off now!

Bonnet rust...

Sunroof rust...

Oh had it replaced under warranty.

That's what I like about him. He may sometime review older cars that no one is really interested in actually owning, but the quirks he finds and how he goes about it can sometimes be entertaining.

I like Saabkyle too. I kept going back to his review of the Camaro SS and his sounds video when getting myself hyped up for my car when I ordered it.

I also like Matt Maran( formerly subaruwrxfan). You can always tell he is a true car guy because when he gets to review vehicles he is excited about, you can always tell( see his Camaro ZL1 review video). I can't wait until he gets his Bullit. He will be like a kid in a candy store. :)

You just have to be balanced and fair to get my attention( and no clickbait BS). And as stated, I like the in depth stuff some of these guys do( Engineering Explained, SavageGeese, and Saab to a lesser extent).

Kyle isn't bad. He's a pretty good reviewer. Very blunt. He's also been doing it for a long, long time.

This is one of my favorite car reviews of all time:

He also got together with Doug DeMuro and his Ferrari (and then nailed a point about the car that I never thought to articulate):

re: DT's SUV Replacement

So ...

The 3rd row has gotten more priority, it's not a _must_ just yet, but it wasn't even a thing for several weeks.

(Reminder: we're still not interested in a land behemoth, i.e., Yukon/Sub/Expedition)

The MDX has taken a drop in the polls :D Like the wife pointed out - and I agree 101% - if you're buying a class of vehicle that doesn't support one the key attributes of the class, why consider it? Of course, an "SUV" has a pretty nebulous definition anymore, but there are a number of them I'd move into the "crossover", more of a SAV (in BMW parlance), or a "sport wagon".

i.e., it can't tow. Not that is has a poor towing capacity, but Acura specifies you are not to tow with it, so it has 0 lbs capacity. I'm not sure where that leaves even a trailer hitch (like for our bike rack ) as you can't even configure the SH with one, so not sure if you have to go 3rd party or if the OEM part still fits[?]

Second hit: no local dealer. Sure, it's a Honda, it won't break, etc., but if it does, the two Acura dealers are each an hour away, through some craptacular areas of town to drive.

So that's your 3rd one? Do you have a garage/workshop?

Fun, I like these sort of posts, looking forward to seeing the progress.

Honda Pilot in AWD format can tow 5,000 lb with the optional towing package. Has a third row, not a land behemoth, can be optioned with 2nd row captain's chairs, leather interior, etc. Fit and finish should be as good as the Acura or better.

When it comes to space, I think in Costco terms. How much can I shove into the vehicle while maintaining field of view.
