Tell that to the Morris Minor, the classic Mini, and I'm sure a handful of others that I'm forgetting about.

Land Rover Series I through IIA. Scion XB. Toyota Echo. Toyota Yaris. Toyota Prius. BMW Z8. Model 3. Model Y. And last, but not least the pinnacle of automotive design, the Plymouth Prowler.

Yeah, all of the afformentioned cars were complete failures.

So, I guess it has been a while since I have updated my car situation on here. Anyway. My A4 was great, but to me it was always a 2-3 year audition for a more permanent purchase with more options.

The only thing I knew is I wanted some variation of the A4.

Here's the thing: A brand new A4 is pushing $45K-$50K. So I had other ideas. Anyway, after some soul searching and living on CarGurus, I found this guy in San Antonio:

[doublepost=1554681713][/doublepost]Here's a look at the back for clarification:

It's a CPO S4 with sub 10,000 miles in the low 40s. The thing is spectacular. Take the refinement of the A4 in comfort mode and, when you feel like it, set it to Auto or Dynamic mode and the thing becomes possessed by a demon hell bent on consuming the road. The thing is fast as hell and can get me in a ton of trouble if I'm not careful.

Fuel economy is about 18-20 driving to work (no highways) and 30 going downtown (highways). The noise is pretty glorious. Virtual cockpit is awesome as are the sport seats.

Nice! Every single car I’ve owned, modded or not, I drive in “sport” mode. You can still “modulate” MPG and comfort with your foot. Trade off is a couple miles more per gallon and the few dollars you save is not worth it for me.

I only put my golf in sports mod on certain roads. On my way to work, I’m lucky to get up to 40, so not much point.

For me, you never know when you need the kick. Switching back and forth is a PIA. Even with my ZR2, I need the marginal extra torque, HP and throttle response randomly in everyday driving.

No one said ALL cars with the instrument panel in the middle were failures, or that that was the only reason some failed.

Do tell more. Side project? Mechanic/owner?

Full standalone conversion I did for a Countach (not my own vehicle).

Intake manifold before modifications. From left to right: the cold start injector, air intake for idle control and the throttle. All of this gets removed to make way for new throttle bodies.

weld1.jpg

Intake manifold after modifications. Band saw to cut off old throttle and ports for injector/idle air. New material welded on to fill in the holes left behind and make the manifold "seamless". Aluminum plate welded to front to allow for the bolt-on of new throttle bodies. A "groove" is machined into the throttle plate for an o-ring, instead of using the typical flat gasket.

New bags for my ride!

Just put new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ On my Charger.

Took them for a drive down some twisty country roads. Sweet!

Nice, I usually buy Michelin’s myself. My Charger has Michelin Premier A/S tires on it and my wife’s Challenger came with Michelin Primacy MXM4’s which is probably the exact tire I’ll replace them with, unless Michelin has better tires out by then.

Nice. This is the type of content we need to see more in this thread. Definitely share more on your project.

One of the top tires from all my performance cars I’ve used before. Great grip and longevity. You definitely pay the price, but they are easily worth their weight on the road. Enjoy.

Shame the idiot that closed the road where I work didn't use them. Managed to hit a tree in the dry on a clear day this morning.
I'm guessing a mobile phone texter.

9.1 mpg? I think it’s broken! Or do you need to change your user name to Mr Leadfoot! :D

Leadfoot for sure. It’s on the low side with this current tank, but the best I will see is about 13mpg combined. And I always drive in sport mode unless it’s raining or I’m off-road.

I’d need a second job to run a car with that sort of mileage in my country.
13mpg would be worse than the worst I get.

I can imagine. 36 gallon tank and I pay close to $4.00 a gallon. You can do the math. For you, it would be like US $400. LOL

The factory fuel injector from the Bosch K-Jetronic system alongside the "bung" it bolts into.

inj10.jpg

How the factory injector is located inside the intake runner of the manifold.

inj11.jpg

Obviously you want to have the new injector mount in a similar location. This required some cutting, welding and fabrication.

inj9.jpg

Audi TT injectors were used because of their longer "tip". Even then they aren't long enough to reach the fuel rail because of the design of the intake runners. So we had to use injector extensions.

inj2.jpg

Custom bungs.

inj3.jpg

Injector test fit inside the bung.

inj4.jpg

Injector and welded bung on intake manifold compared to the bare bung beside.

The fuel rail showing how the injector extensions attach.

rail1.jpg

This is the handy little tool that cuts a perfect hole to tap the threads for the injector extension and also machine it to properly accept the o-ring at the top.

rail3.jpg

The fuel pressure regulators/housings and the mounting plate they fit into. Standard Bosch regulators you'd find on many VW/Audi and similar vehicles.

regs1.jpg

Regulators mounted to the rear of the manifold (facing the front of the vehicle). You can also see how far above the fuel rail is and why we needed extensions for the injectors.
