I watched the ‘review’ on the Bronco above from Demuro. Just a quick note on him:

Personally, that guy is insufferable. I know he’s respected and even though I don’t really consider him to be that great of a car reviewer, I can barely make it through one of his videos with his tone and voice is just obnoxious. {I sorta Picture of him living in his parents basement playing his Atari while drinking Code red Mountain Dew working on how he can make his voice even more annoying for the next video.}

Anyways, What will make the Bronco successful, is there so many different trim levels you can choose from, from the standard *base model, comfort, luxury, ‘off-road Sasquatch package‘*. Plus, just wait until the third party manufacturers get their hands on schematics/blueprints for the aftermarket Segment for this vehicle, it will be endless with customization. And the price points really aren’t that unreasonable with this vehicle, as they start around $29,000 and move their way upwards to $50,000 depending on the package and trim level. I think there’s a lot to be had with this vehicle, especially if you live in a state where you have snow or some off-road trails. (It’s unfortunate they don’t offer a V-8, but I probably would opt for the T.T Ecoboost 2.7 V6 with the 10 speed over the 2.3 [4] cylinder eco-boost if I was in the market.)

But the most unique thing I thought about that whole video, was the removable doors as Doug mentioned, can actually be housed inside the vehicle and a protective cover for the doors is provided against damage, whereas with the Jeep, the doors cannot fit in the vehicle. To me, that’s a huge convenience factor if you plan on removing them for whatever reason for a summer drive or off-roading, you don’t have to worry about offloading the doors somewhere, when you can store them On-board with you.

I really have to hand it to Ford, they made the vehicle look retro in all the right areas, but included a lot of modernized technology, there is some really nice touches and I’m sure they had a lot of fun designing with all the T&E courses. I think the Bronco is slated to have a very bright future.

Sure, he's a bit of on an "extra" personality, but he didn't come out of left field as a YouTuber, he was a pretty well known and well regarded writer, author, automotive journalist before his current channel, he's married, lives in Mission Hills, net worth ~$3M, seems like he's doing fine.

Through my car communication channels, I've seen people talk about him, that know him personally, say he's an affable, funny guy, doing what he loves.

I’ve always wanted to own a pair of Chip Foose wheels. Chip is a huge leader in the automotive industry for resto-mods, custom wheel designs, Barrett Jackson contributions, etc (And he is a very humble person with a lot of respect in the auto world). After the Camaro purchase, the previous owner installed 20” hi gloss-polish black Foose wheels, not even a scratch on them (In fairness, the Camaro only has 5000 miles on the odometer.) But anyways, I use a product that’s a paint enhancer, known as ‘Black light’ [Made by Chemical Guys] it’s more of a topical ‘glaze‘ that really makes blacks pop, and this is the after-effect.

The LED track lighting I had installed you see in the picture behind the wheel is a game changer for detailing and enhancing the paint.

In other news:

Last spring, I heated my garage, and the last few nights we’ve reached a low of 15°, and I’ve been using the heater more often. Well, unbeknownst to me, mice made their way in my garage and I couldn’t figure out where they were coming in from. So after finding at least three different areas of where they were infiltrating, I had to have the entire garage resealed with all new insulation seals, surface filler, the garage bottom barrier had to be reinforced with new seals, The concrete portion that meets my driveway had to be filled, because they were coming in from under the ground, just a huge project fortunately that was completed in a timely fashion, costly, but worth it. Last thing I need, is rodents moving in my garage, in which is the downside being I live in the countryside.

It could be interesting to get a bit more of the car in it to see the wheel. A bit too close up for my liking. Also don't think the 'paint popping' comes across in that photo. I like Chemical Guys (and Poorboys) generally, but that just looks like black to me.

Chip Foose, I'm sure he is, but my gosh isn't his tv show a big pile of poo. Such an old fashioned formula or overexcited people presenting it, with a pretty girl draped over the cars, and a sob story for doing some builds. Old fashioned, old skool, bog-standard formula TV, replicable across whatever you want to promote.

Ok I must have mis understood when you said it makes black pop. I just don’t see any kind of popping, just black. And surely for some popping your need a flake of some kind in the paint to catch the light.

The best way to describe it, is you’ve ever looked at the ‘Space black’ stainless Apple Watch, it looks just like that. That really ‘wet’ look. Black light just adds a glaze that enhances blacks to a deeper effect.

Looks like a gloss black wheel, I've owned several.

*shrug*

This was a killer wheel, custom build from my buddies at iForged, 3-piece, forged, natural polished lip with a satin center section, it was a 20" x 11.5" (rear fitment):

That's an 18" CCW track wheel (on the car) in the background.

Another pic for size reference ... that's a serious lip that was designed into these (when that was sort of a thing :D)

Can't stand him. His approach to car reviews just turns me off.

GMC drops huge news with the return (Well, improvised) of the new EV Hummer. Should be interesting to see how this compares to the ybertruck, but obviously with different price points and trim levels.

Its debut offering is a four-door pickup with 1000 horsepower, at least 1000 lb-ft of torque, and a claimed zero-to-60-mph time of 3.0 seconds. It has 35-inch-tall tires, four-wheel steering, and removable roof panels. Range is 350 miles and an 800-volt DC fast charger can add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes. Edition 1, the decked-out launch model, will cost $112,595. This is not a rebodied Chevy Tahoe.”

Next up will be the Hummer EV3X, available in fall 2022, with a three-motor setup, 0-60 mph acceleration in three seconds, and a suggested price of $99,995. Following that will be the Hummer EV2X, available in spring 2023, with Crab Mode, Extract Mode, and a suggested price of $89,995. Last will be the Hummer EV2, available spring 2024, with just two motors and a suggested price of $79,995. All four trim levels are expected to have over 350 miles of range on a full battery.

Reveal and sound clips to come soon ??

I had my exhaust system updated, it is brilliant. Mean but refined when the valves are closed. But open those valves and my god, the gates to hell open up for that supercharger V8.

And in my stealthy all black look ?

I was going to nag you again about posting the photo, but now I will hold you accountable.😁 Definitely want to hear the sound and see exterior shots of what this ride is all about!

Text went sorta like this:

Neighbor: Hey R.P., whatcha up to? If you have time, stop by, I wanna show you something in my driveway. Bring your bad-a@@ Cobra with you.

Me: Sure? Did you need something? I have the Scat, but I’ll switch Cars and drop by in 30 or so.

Neighbor: You’ll see. I’ll be waiting.

So I swing home, switch cars, grab my N95 mask (Safety first😁) drive over and my neighbor has this parked in his driveway. So we did a little side-by-side photo comparison of different generations of future collectibles.

He picked up a 2019 Shelby GT 350 in ‘race red’, after he heard the news about the discontinuation I mentioned a few weeks back

I have the loudest Mustang on my block, now he has the most unique sounding Mustang with the flat plane crank.

Killer photo of these two monsters.

I'm starting to look for better tires for my 2016 Scion iM hatchback. That is unless the 224/45R17 size means it's not a completely solvable problem regarding ride quality (my car rides great on decently smooth roads, but anything less....).

If I’m not mistaken that is a Toyota Corolla, always found them rather harsh. I think to “improve” ride quality you’d have to go for smaller wheels, or change the suspension. Tyres alone won’t do it, well it could improve a little bit but doubt it will make a material difference.

Well, at least my Scion iM (known as the Toyota Auris outside of the USA) has a decent suspension, especially the multilink independent rear suspension. I still think maybe with the right tires, the ride quality might improve just a tad, though I think the 45 aspect ratio could limit the improvements. Older cars that use 65 to 70 aspect ratio tires tend to have quite dramatic change in ride quality depending on the tire.

You might be able to use a greater aspect ratio, provided you can fit smaller rims (like 16") over the brake. I don't know about the legal implications of this in the US, though.
But ride quality (or better, characteristics) also dependent on the tyre, especially the construction of the sidewall. There are tyres with extremely stiff sidewalls, which is good for exact response to steering input, but less so for dampening street surface defects. A softer sidewall construction does help with the ride quality, but tends to be less "sharp" in the reaction to directional changes.

Just because it is multi-link doesn't mean it is decent ;) There is a lot more to suspension than the technology that is being used. Not all springs and dampers are the same. Besides you are the one complaining about ride quality, I would suggest you then also listen to advice ;)

And you can't just change the circumference of a wheel, and you are just repeating what I said to you ;) If you want a bigger sidewall, then you will need smaller wheels...That will give you a softer ride and reduces the handling of the car. Hence I put ride 'quality' in-between brackets as I don't think you are after improving ride quality but actually just want a softer ride.

There are tires that do prioritized ride quality over absolute handling. Looking at what's available in that size, I can speak first hand to the Michelin MXM4 and Bridgestone Turanza as nice riding tires, albeit with slightly taller sidewalls(235/50/17 and 245/45/17). I've been happy with Yokohama Avids, but the ones I've run have been giant 70 series sidewalls so I can't say how they'd be in that size. I had a set of Pirelli Centurato C7s, but found them a bit harder riding and noisier than these others.

But yeah, at the end of the day, tires can only do so much and more sidewall should give a softer ride in a comparable tire. I haven't looked at Scions recently, but at least they use be marketed as somewhat sporty cars, and the suspension in a car of that class isn't necessarily tuned for a comfortable ride.
