I skipped the initial big sync to play with it, but now I am syncing all of my stuff to it. Extremely impressed, especially with iBooks. I am going to be doing a ton of reading on this device.

can you set the screen brightness? that would make power consumption better when reading

Still trying to figure out how to import spreadsheets into Numbers. The only thing I can figure out is to email them to myself. I don't see anyway to transfer them in iTunes.

I don't have one yet but it is my understanding that if you go into itunes and the applications tab, there should be import settings for files there based on the App. Not sure though if it is based on the iPad apps or what apps are installed on the local machine. For example, if you have numbers on the Ipad but not on the Mac that has iTunes, will this option appear? or do you need NUmbers on the Mac in order to have the ability to select and transfer to the iPad. Curious.

As you stated email is the other way and you would get the option menu of which app to use to open that particular file (Assuming you have multiple apps that are registered on the ipad to read/open that particular file type).

Went to best buy to check one out. They had a shelf with a ton of these iPads, when I was done playing around with one they were all gone but 1. Interestingly enough I saw many more women buying them and picking up preorders as well VS men. Interesting to see. The Apple guy told me they are selling very well so far.

Anyhow The ipad has a nice mass to it, feels like a solid high quality consumer electronics devices. Nice even edges, everything with tight tolerances you would think this was something built like a nice Leica M series with prime.

The Screen is quite nice, You can see fingerprints on it though but I suspect this thing has been handled more than a hooker working at hunts point.
I tried a few apps, Nasdaq OMX, etrade pro etc.. I was impressed. It really feels like something from a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. You need to try it and hold it.

The virtual keyboard was actually quite usable. I was able to type real quick on the thing even when holding it with one hand. I also put it flat on the table and typed with both hands. I can see with Muscle Memory developing being able to type real quick on this without looking too much at the keyboard.

Numbers is real nice, and very fast entry, much nicer due to the dedicated keyboard setups for the datatype.

I can see this replacing a Laptop. I know I will not need one anymore with this. I always hated to carry this heavy laptop + bag, having to pull it out, flip the thing open, wait for it to boot up or wake up, load up app etc..

It is very intuitive and Waiting for the 3G model is killing me

Some of my iPhone apps (game of life, trivial pursuit) are not responding to the 2x fullscreen button, anyone else having this issue?

Posted in the thread on shipment, but thought I would share my enthusiasm right now for being at work with iPad in hand a domain policy on the network that prevents installation of iTunes. This is what you get out of the box. I look so thrilled! LOL

too bad it's not a stand alone device....i think that's a mistake

Would someone please be kind enough to tell me if that has Exchange support within Mail, like the iPhone? Seem to remember this not being mentioned on product pages.....

Provo, UT here... and stuck on:
OREM, UT, US 04/03/2010 9:00 A.M. DESTINATION SCAN

@ThomasAtUPS on Twitter claimed that Pleasant Grove, UT would be covered by Saturday Delivery, so I would have assumed that Provo/Orem would get it too... but I got my "Monday Delivery" email, so I'm not too sure about it anymore.

Calling the 1-800 number says that it's "on its way to you", but who knows how accurate that is...

Just found this on apple.com
Languages

* Language support for English, French, German, Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Russian
* Keyboard support for English (U.S.), English (UK), French (France, Canada), German, Japanese (QWERTY), Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, Italian, Simplified Chinese (Handwriting and Pinyin), Russian
* Dictionary support for English (U.S.), English (UK), French, French (Canadian), French (Swiss), German, Japanese, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, Italian, Simplified Chinese (Handwriting and Pinyin), Russian

I'm axiously hoping that doesn't mean it'll take even longer for it to come to Sweden as well. I'm gonna be seriously pissed if it takes another month to come to France and then another 2-3 months to come here....
Hoping it won't be like that.

Yes, it's on the list of account types when you go to add a new one.

The one thing that I am surprised about so far is that I think I actually prefer typing with it in portrait mode.

Great stuff - thats a buy for me then, as soon as the 3G one hits the UK

My first impression is that now I'm totally screwed.

I've been putting it through the paces for a better part of 3 hrs. Looking at the minuscule screen on my smartphone is killing me now.

Oh, and I've really been going crazy with it, the battery life is insanely good. Really happy with the purchase. I say bring on the apps now..

To all of those on the fence, I wasn't sure what to expect. Completely blew a way what I expected.

Same here . . . status changed from "out for delivery" this morning to "on it's way to you" this afternoon. Can't wait to hear what it says this evening. Probably "on it's way back to us" LOL
