Went into Best Buy this morning to buy a movie, left with a 32 gig iPad instead. I hate it when that happens... First impressions: AMAZING. Everything is lightning fast, the display is excellent, and the size is perfect.

Can anyone report if documents can be stored somewhere? Lets say you work on pages - where does it save it. Is there a documents folder or something which allows you to lets say put all the stuff from your current work project on there and work with it? Lets say you want to do a PROFESSIONAL key note presentation with data your lab produced...

the documents all save in the application itself.

I wasn't planning on buying one, but I walked into my local Best Buy to check them out and they had hardly sold any, so...

Yeah, BestBuy didn't do much for advertising, and it wasn't until much later that people found out that they would actually be there. There was a small group of people at my local store. I showed up at 10:05 and was the 3rd person to get 1.

Mine was delivered to huber heights and go there at 930. Hopefully you will get yours soon!

Awesome! Amazing display, better then expected speakers, and I have no problems typing on the keyboard. :apple:

Well I've had mine for several hours now. Overall I love it. ABC app crashes when I try to view episodes. Also Google apps don't seem to work well. It still wants to pull up the mobile version of most Google apps. Reader doesn't seem to respond well. And News goes to iPhone version. Guess it's time to say bye-bye to Google. I actually love the onscreen keyboard. Netflix works great. Still trying to figure out how to import spreadsheets into Numbers. The only thing I can figure out is to email them to myself. I don't see anyway to transfer them in iTunes.

I just got back from the Apple Store and was able to pick up a 32GB and a 64GB model. Right now I'm debating which one to keep and which one to give away. Also picked up 2 cases (Apple sleeves) and 2 docks.

As with the Apple Store, I've been told they've been selling non-stop since morning, but from the looks of things they still have at least 100 more in stock.

Passing the time while I wait for me local UPS delivery man ... have some cheeseball ART on me...

can someone please post a video review of the keyboard? id really appreciate that! tia.

Still waiting for mine (in the Portland area - darn time difference!) Has anyone tried the new Pages or Keynote for ipad?

Apple really needs to tell the few people in the rest of the world what the price is going to be, looks like I'm going to have to wait till 'late April' before that happens.

When they start delivering to the UK I'm going to sell signs saying 'UPS stop here please', like the kids have at Christmas. Glad to see I'm not the only 60 plus year old getting excited...and I'm 3000 miles away with a month to go! Enjoy my friend.

Haha, i'm sure that would get a few laughs!

Best Buy Has Tons Of Ipads... Not Just 15.

Hey guys,
Went up to Best Buy to demo an iPad this morning. Here are my observations (since this thread is heavy on "mine hasn't come" but severely lacking in initial impressions):

(1) It's a bit heavier than I expected.
(2) Two-handed typing with the landscape keyboard is a nightmare the first 15 seconds, then gets rapidly easier.
(3) The pixel doubling is not as bad as broadcasted. Madden looked great.
(4) Gameloft's NOVA was much easier on to play than on iPhone.
(5) Lots of apps were downloaded for use on the Best Buy demos. iBooks was not one of them. However, I was able to log in to my account, download it, and log back out.
(6) iBook Samples download to your bookshelf, with a "buy" option while reading.
(7) Movies and TV Shows are NOT accessed from "iPod" as they are on iPhone/iPod Touch. There is a separate "Videos" icon for them. Music videos, however, are still accessible from the iPod.
(8) All the stores (apps/iTunes/iBooks) are SLICK. Very much like iTunes store on Mac/PC, but a much cooler feel... definitely could feel the tangibility of touchscreen when navigating it.
(9) Pressing and holding an icon did not bring up the "delete/rearrange" function that it does on the iPhone/iPod Touch. This may have just been built in to the Demo versions though.
(10) "Picture Frame Mode": not sure I had heard anything about this, but when the screen is locked, there is a button next to the Lock Slide that, when pressed, turns the iPad into a digital picture frame. Pretty slick.

One final note, the guys at Best Buy enthusiastically informed everyone that the "15 per store" line in the booklets was a total swerve on BB's part... Apple shipped tons of every model to each Best Buy store, they said. Lots of people were walking out with iPads from the crowd that had gathered.

Tight Supply

If you pre-ordered, you might be in better shape, depending on your area. AppleInsider is reporting that supplies at many Best Buy outlets is tight and some models have already sold out at some stores. A reader in Augusta reported that the 16GB model was gone in 5 minutes at the store near his home.

I just got m iPad i want to cry im so happy, the future starts now

I got to the mall this morning and Apple employees were so generous and kind they hooked me up with free coffee/bagels and then as the doors were about to open it was like an event, people were cheering and the excitement was building. An apple employee personally walked me up to the front and the checkout process was soo easy and as I walked out, everyone was cheering for me I felt like a movie star lol. Apple rocks!

First impression: absolutely beautiful... Once again, apple has created a lovely piece of electronic wonder

A couple questions: anybody been able to find an iPad optimized Facebook app? It showed one in the iPad ads and in apple's website, but I haven't been able to locate one yet in the app store... I've found "HD" versions of the weather channel and shazam, and the app store immediately updated the IMDB app with the update simply stating "optimized for iPad"

Facebook looks terrible on this thing right now :(

Also, I wish they had included that pretty peacock feather picture they used in the ads as one of the background images... I was looking forward to that :/

Otherwise it's all I thought it'd be and more! Netflix is awesome on it, too btw.
:apple:

Got it! Typing on it right now. Fantastic device! Can't believe how thin it is. Screen is amazing! Typing on landscape is not bad at all. Certainly useable.

The virtual one or the physical one? Because the latter wasn't at my store.

the virtual one please... right on the ipad. i dont live close to an apple store and i just wanted to see how the keyboard really does live in person, thanks!
