There is a lot I want to say on this thread but I will hold my tongue. In the end it's all good and everything balances out :)

I have the same settings as you and I'm just not seeing any difference. Can you give us a couple sites as an example. I just went to CNN, Cnet, and Drudge and checked with AG paused and paused and it seems to be working normally every site I visit.

I'm getting ads on this page, CNN, Cnet. Drudge report has no ads*.

The ads actually seem to be blocked for about 5 seconds and it looks like how Adguard used to work until a couple of days ago. After 5 seconds, the content moves around to make room for the ads, and ads load in the white spaces.

The ads are googleadservices, doubleclick.net.

* At 15 seconds after Drudge loads without ads, the page shifts to make room for an ad - and the word "Advertisement" appears and an ad briefly flickers on screen. The page then shifts back so that there is no room for the ad and after that no ads are visible.

I have never noticed that on any site. Can you tell us the sites so others can test for you?

Could it be the "Acceptable Ads" AdGuard allows that you are seeing?

Hi

Well take CNN for example http://edition.cnn.com , it says in the extension button that protection is off.?

Cnet is the same

*** now its back on for that CNN link, it seems like its random when it decide to be on or off for all the sites I visit.
Must add that I don't notice loads of ads showing with it on or off so it may be doing its job still.

I just went to those sites again and I'm not seeing that behavior at all. All ads appear to be blocked and they stay blocked. Very odd.

My extension button shows that protection is enabled. I can see that protection is working perfectly up to the point that the page has finished loading.

However advertisements are now inserted into the page after a small delay. Adguard does not handle these new ads, which are now delivered to me on almost every site.

I assume I am in an A/B Test by Google. The ads are frighteningly targeted at me too - but I guess I am just used to having ads blocked.

Hi! I doubt it is an A/B test, more like to be some filtering issue.

I need to know more about your extension configuration:
1. Which filters do you have enabled? I need an exact list.
2. Do you use a new or an old API? (there's a switch in safari - extensions, new api by default)
3. Safari exact version? UPD: found the previous message, so it is v9.1

I have noticed on a few websites that Adguard protection is off, these websites are not in any whitelist I have created so I'm not sure why this is the case.

Can someone explain this please.

This means that these websites are partially whitelisted in one of the filters you use. The reason is always the same - filtering breaks the website. I can tell more details if you provide an example.

Just went through adguard's source code - wow :) literally an order of magnitude above and beyond anything else I've looked at.

1. These filters:
English filter Version 1.0.81.76. ON
Spyware filter Version 1.0.5.31. ON
Safari filter Version 1.0.0.50 ON
The other filters are off.

Allow acceptable ads: OFF
Activate the most appropriate filters automatically: ON
Empty whitelist.

2. New API

3. Version 9.1 (11601.5.17.1)

@retroneo hm, it should work then.

However, I find this very suspicious:

I suppose that you may have an ad injector issue. Some malicious extension for instance, that could inject it own ads into the web page.

Could you please inspect your browser extensions? Try to disable them all and check cnn.com again.

subscribed. I've been using adguard adblocker extension (and ublock before that). these make one internal local site (for my security camera viewer) get stuck on loading, so i had to disable. I loaded the first on in the thread (adamant) and it works fine (does not block blue iris UI2 site).

There's no unexpected extensions there, but I have now turned the other Safari extensions off. The ads still remain.

No ads in Firefox, using the "Stop Ads" Add-On on the same computer.

Any more ideas? I'll try uninstalling the Adguard Extension and re-installing it again.

EDIT: Still can't download from Extensions gallery - but downloaded from github and then Safari offered to install it from the Extensions Gallery automatically instead - which worked.

Ads are blocked now, updated filter lists and they still are blocked. Who knows what it was...

Hi avatar-adg,

I have been trying out Adguard and noticed two issues so far.

First, on Kiplinger.com when I am using Adguard and I click on any of the links, they do not open.

On USAToday.com, when I try to watch a video it will not play.

Any suggestions on why that is happening?

Kiplinger.com - fixed, updated filter will be available soon: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/ExperimentalFilter/issues/2015

USAToday.com - cannot reproduce it on my side, so I need to know which exact filters do you use.

I am glad that the issue is now resolved, but it's a pity we didn't get to the root cause of it.

The filters I use are the defaults that are used when I installed Adguard from Apple's website. English, Spyware, Social media, and Easy List filters.

Here are some specific pages from USAToday.com that will not work...

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...at-barrier-reef-hit-coral-bleaching/83270186/

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/...is-hemsworth-wallet-gets-10k-reward/83267728/

Another site

http://www.newser.com/story/223823/...rce=part&utm_medium=usatoday&utm_campaign=syn

Then there is MacWorld.com with their annoying auto-play videos that can't be stopped. But, I don't know if Adguard can fix that or, not?

Still can't reproduce. I wonder if this issue is specific to your location? Maybe they just does not try to show me some ads.

Could you please open browser console and send me the output?
There should be a bunch of lines like "Content blocker prevented frame displaying".

Thank you, will be fixed today:

Yep, of course it can. But I don't get which video is autoplay there? You mean the "How to Videos"?

I have attached the output from this webpage...

On the Macworld page, yes I am talking about those autoplay "How to Videos".

@Tony2012

Try adding this rule to your user filter and see if it helps:
Code:
@@||imasdk.googleapis.com^$domain=usatoday.com

For macworld.com try this (not sure yet how good is it, may mess with other videos):
Code:
macworld.com#%#AG_onLoad(function() { IDG.video.playerCount = 2; });

Had some lock up`s really not able to say the issue was definitively related to AdGuard, equally have flipped back to Wipr, so far so good. My Mac`s connect over VNP`s, multiple servers. I travel globally, have only observed this issue in Vietnam therefore possibly localised, however the lock up forces a hard restart, although it does appear that the system is still running, just unable to exit/get out of Safari to Force Close etc.

Am I blind? I can't see any button to install ANY extension? Did a clean install of El Capitan yesterday and didn't install much yet... Is this some bug?

You figure it out? Are you using Avast? That was the issue for me. As soon as I turned it off (eventually deleted it) the "Install Now" button popped up. One of the online techs at Apple advised not using it and using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware instead.
[doublepost=1462777541][/doublepost]
Tried that, didn't change anything.

Here are the results from the element tab:

Did you get it figured out? Worked it out with Apple, I was using Avast and it was blocking it. As soon as I deleted it the button showed up. They recommended Malwarebytes Anit-Malware instead.
