Not really, because I didn't buy through Apple. I bought through Amazon. It was 4% cheaper, I could apply a chunk of Discover points directly, pay with Discover and get 2% in points, overnight shipping was $3.99, and save 5.5% by not having to pay sales tax. For me an 45 minutes/hour of downtime and install was easily worth the savings. If things had gone awry or I hated it I have a Lion usb install I made not that long ago, and could have just reinstalled Lion.

Ohh thanks for clarifying.

Hope you enjoy it! I will be you in hopefully a week. :D

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I think it's going to fill my want of having a "real" computer I can toss in my backpack and take with me anywhere, never mind just wandering about the house. Ipad doesn't cut it if I have to take care of anything for work on the fly. 15" mbp is, for me, something I can take with me if I need to, but I'm not going to unless I know I need it.

So finally get to post in here! Just ordered my MBA! Am getting it for school, my school requires us to have a laptop, had an HP brick for 3 years and am now upgrading! My old laptop was really heavy and was making my bag weigh a ton, so now can't wait to go to school without a massive bag. I was just wondering something, I looked at the track your order and it says it was shipped from Shanghai today (I live in Hong Kong) and it said this evening that it has a 'clearance delay' just wondering if it is something I should be worried about? Coming back frohome holidays on the 9th anyway anyway but just wondering if this is something to be worried about.
Thanks in advance.

Time. Standing. Still.

Just ordered the MacBook Air 13" 8GB 128 SSD. Got the email order confirm back really quick with delivery date estimated between August 6-8.
:cool::cool::cool::eek::cool::cool::cool:

My first MacBook Air and Aug 6-8 is going to seem like an eternity...

Hmmm. I ordered exactly the same thing a day later than you and my delivery is Aug 3-7 (in fact reading your post is what made me order last night; I leave for school on Aug 9).

Anybody care to speculate why? Perhaps you can tell me what state you live in?

I'm in Portugal, maybe shipping to USA is more fast than to Europe. And another detail, when I made the order, was already Saturday in China, probably the office were close and didn't continue the process, until now.

The order status changed a few yours ago to Preparing for Shipment.

Just placed an order for my 13" MBA base model but upgraded to 8 GB of ram. I should get it August 8th. Anyone have the Buffalo Thunderbolt/USB 3.0 drive? I'm looking to replace my old 1 TB external drive with that one. I also a replacing my 2009 model 2.26 13" MBP with 8GB of ram with the MBA.

So my MacBook just cleared customs in china! Can't wait until it arrives here! It's a shame that I won't see it until a week after it arrives but looking forward to it loads.

Wow that was fast. Was yours a custom BTO?

I live in the U.S., and my order still says Processing after 3 days. My $100 gift card just shipped though.

Mine is since 30 Jul 2012 23:05:09 in Pudong International Airport Shipment In Transit. ( China local time)

But TNT for some reason only plan to deliver on 9 August... Don't make any sense. Apple store says 6 August.

In my opinion, will be this Friday the delivery.

It was a BTO 13/i7/256GB/8, lucky you. Used the educational discount but my country doesn't offer a Gift Card! Was really upset about this when I found out, it's a bit late now though. My order shipped the same day as I ordered so I suppose I'm lucky. I'm hoping for a Samsung screen as the SSD doesn't really matter to me but knowing my luck I'll get an LG. It was in customs for three days though, was hoping to get a free SuperDrive out of it tomorrow but it cleared just in time. My shipping estimate from apple is the 30th of July (obviously not going to make it) to the 2nd of August so hoping to get it then at the latest.

I don't know how mine is supposed to deliver on Aug 3-Aug 7, when it still says Processing and has yet to go through China, if that's true what you all say.

I think it will get to you easily by the 7th, actual shipping time (the time it's actually moving) shouldn't take more than a day.

WOW! I must say I'm impressed, cleared customs in China at 3AM and arrived in Hong Kong two hours later! Looks like my MacBook will be delivered in just a few hours!!! :( bad thing now is that I have to wait another 8 days until I'm back in Hong Kong.

Woot! Awesome. But I'm super confused....you got a BTO MBA, which I thought were built in China and shipped to the United States. But since yours is delivering to Hong Kong, why did it have to clear customs? Was it in the US and then had to be shipped back to Hong Kong (to you)?

Haha basically what I'm trying to ask is, where did your shipment originate from?

Does that mean my BTO MBA is somewhere in the US already?

Or am I completely wrong and things going in and out of China to Hong Kong have to clear customs?

From what I've seen from my shipment tracking is that my MacBook had to go through customs when it left China, it didn't go through customs in Hong Kong, probably due to the politics etc. On my shipment tracking it says it had a clearance delay at PVG which is the shanghai airport.
Here is my shipping information:

Jul 31, 2012 * 05:10 * Hkg - HKG * Departed from facility - Hkg - HKG
Jul 31, 2012 * 05:10 * Hkg - HKG * Processed - Hkg - HKG
Jul 31, 2012 * 05:06 * Hkg - HKG * Arrived at delivery facility - Hkg - HKG
Jul 31, 2012 * 03:42 * Hkg - HKG * Clearance processing complete - Hkg - HKG
Jul 28, 2012 * 20:27 * Pvg - PVG * Clearance delay - Pvg - PVG
Jul 28, 2012 * 16:01 * Sha - SHA * Departed from facility - Sha - SHA
Jul 28, 2012 * 15:58 * Sha - SHA * Processed - Sha - SHA

Cool, thanks for posting that. Since you ordered on July 28, suffice to say that your computer was already built and they just picked it out and put it on a plane. You're so lucky. Bummer you won't get to use it yet. :)

I'll bet your order status has changed to "Preparing for Shipment" as of today, right? :)

Just took the plunge and ordered myself a MacBook Air 13'' i7/256/8Gb for my birthday!
It will be the second Mac I've ever owned (1st one was an iMac from 2006, which have been dead for several years) and I'm really excited.

Ordered (BTO) Sunday evening 29th July with UK delivery time 7th - 9th August.

Still on "Processing items" after nearly 2 days but will hopefully move long a stage by tomorrow morning.

I keep seeing "Dispatched: 1..." next to my status and think it's been dispatched - annoying lol :)

BTO:
11''
i5
128GB
8GB RAM

Apple now changed the delivery date from the previous 6 to 9 of August.

TNT looks very show, the notebook according to the track status is in xanguai airport for at least 36 hours :s
