Hi,

I ordered a CTO 1.8/8/256 MacBook Air on Tuesday that shipped today. I decoded the serial number (XXXXXXXXDRVG) on several websites and each told me the device has a 2.0 Ghz i7 processor. Are there any known cases where people got a better CTO model than they've ordered? The specs on the invoice meet the specs I've ordered.

Just ordered my macbook air!

Alright, so, things happened and I ended up purchasing the MacBook Air online, even though I strictly said that I would wait for the 2013 model. It's all because of this sales assistant at an authorised Apple reseller who managed to convince me that even if there was a slight upgrade in CPU, performance, etc. it wouldn't really be that much of a big deal for me seeing as I'll only be using the MBA for word processing, web browsing, listening to music, watching videos and light gaming. Plus, the thought of having to wait 5+ months is excruciatingly difficult :p I CAN'T WAIT! Honestly, just order one now and you won't regret it!

So, ordered a 13" CTO 1.8/256/8GB on Friday within the sell window of my university here in Zurich.
Estimated delivery is between March 1 and 5, but I hope it will get here earlier because I leave the country for a few weeks on wednesday or thursday and want to sell my old MBP during that time...

My macbook air arrived!

So, I've been using it for the past few hours and let me just say... "Wowww, it's so beautiful! It's so beautiful! It's so beautiful!!" I legitimately just kept saying that phrase over and over! I'm so glad that I bought one now and not wait 5+ months for the 2013 model! It's honestly amazing. I highly recommend buying one now and not waiting, unless you really really want to :p I'm typing on my MBA as we speak!! I love it so much and it's so ridiculously light!

Ordered 2.0/8GB/512GB 13MBA on 21st Feb. Still saying 'Preparing For Shipment'

How long does it stay on that for usually? Delivering to Sydney, Australia.

Why are you buying the 13" air when the retina is only a few hundred more?

Because I don't use photoshop or other heavy demanding graphical work and because the Air is so much more compact and light which is perfect for University use.

I assume that it would take a little longer because you wanted the Air with maxed out specifications. Mine, however, was only the minimum base model and thus, it took me 2 days. I ordered it on Saturday and it arrived on Tuesday, taking note that they only began shipping on business days. Good luck!

I got my device today. Configuration is as ordered. Maybe they changed the serial number format.

/sigh

Still waiting. the delivery was logged as 'In transit' from 10am yesterday. Was hoping it would have reached Sydney last night and be on the truck today.

Looks like its going to be Monday.

Just got a MBA

So little about me. I used to be one of those “Eff Apple and their crap".

Well I went to Best buy today and saw the MBA. I was in the market for a computer for school that will last me for a while at least til grad school. I saw this and fell in love immediately. I never gave the time to check these out and I should have. 13in is perfect. So thin and Light. Great screen, fast, and easy to use. Some of the highest build quality I've seen also.

Figured I'd let you all know.

My main question is, what's some must need apps to download? I am using it for college so note taking, presentations, etc. I appreciate all of your help.

..... And totally missed that huge thread at the top. Sorry.

Hey
Congrats on getting your MBA.
When it comes to apps you would be best visiting the App Store. You should have an icon on your dock (the bottom row icons on your screen) and you will be taken to the App Store.

You will see loads of apps free and chargeable ones and they have them in different categories.

If your needing word processing applications then your best bet will be to go for IWork's Pages app.

If your doing general note taking then you can also check out text edit which is something I use for general notes etc.

depending on which school you attend, you may be able to get a copy of Office 2011 for 10 dollars.

http://www.microsofthup.com/hupus/home.aspx?dialect_id=en-US&country_id=US

just click that you dont know your code and enter in your .edu email and see if you are eligible. pages/numbers are pretty good but not as deep as the office suite is (in my opinion).

the first two apps i always put on a new computer are VLC and Firefox. Congrats on your new system. I'm sure she's super sexy.

Congratulations on your new MBA!! It's an awesome machine, one I miss very much since upgrading to the rMBP.

I am also a postgraduate student, and use Dropbox and Evernote; two fantastic applications which have made my life a heck of a lot easier...

When does apple do their back to school deals? Usually before Fall semester? Now that I have my Air, might pick up a maxed out imac after they (if they do) release any new models, etc of anything.

Just bought refurb 13" MBA

Just bought the wife a new 13" MBA, replacing her piece of crap HP DV6. She is so excited and me a little jealous :D, really didn't know they were this nice, even with me owning MBP's, a mid 2010 and work laptop a mid 2011 model. It's the i5/256flash model and it's perfect for her needs, a little too small for my taste though. if Apple ever releases a 15" of this model I'm all over it!

Shipping status "preparing for shipment"
however, most accessories have shipped

Refurb 11" i7/8/256

I too gave-in to not waiting until the new models are released. For now, I need a computer and looking forward to unboxing and using it.

Also looking forward to the iPad refresh, I'd possibly use it as a 2nd monitor!

Hi guys,

This is my first post so hi :)

I am very interested in buying a refurbished MBA but notice that the price differs hugely. When I looked 2 months ago, the prices were much cheaper than they are now.

What explains these flucuations? Are they regular?

Cheers!

Hi! Mine was at a saving of approx $230 which is great for my budget. Could I have possibly saved more? Curious. Thanks for noticing and bringing this point up.
