Just wanted to post that I received my two MBAs (one yesterday and the other this morning) and tell people that understand that it's a good day for me.
Both MBAs are in stellar condition. Good fit and finish, start up in a flash and operate as smooth as butter on a bald monkey. jeffery0103 posted a couple of times about getting not so good Airs and having to return 5 of them! Can't figure that one out but my two are beautiful machines. Keeping my fingers crossed that I won't run into that wifi bug though. So far - so good. Of course, any problems, I'll post and ask for advice.
Well, I guess I'll retire my Toshiba Satellite with Widows 7. Tired of constant updates while I'm using the computer and the sudden lock ups and shut downs.
I enjoy the forum and the blogs. Everyone have a great day.

What configuration did you go with?

Got my 11 inch today, not quite used to it yet. The keys feel a bit springy and moving all around, unlike the stiffness of my Pro. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I went with the 13", i5, 8GB, 256 SSD? I also got the new Airport Extreme. The result is pretty remarkable. Also got a new Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 modem. It arrived today and I had to go to work so I'll set it up when I get home later. I'm going to connect them together with a Belkin H.P. cat6 cable. Decided to upgrade everything and enjoy any results I get now or in the future - or at least for the next couple of years.

Two new MBA's, AE and all new from the wall. You rock!

MacBook Air just arrived. Pretty slick. It's going to be hard to step down from 15" to 13" and I'm not totally sure the non-retina was the best choice. I'm going to compare to a friend's tomorrow.

Nice machine altogether though. Sleek and light.

I'm noticing some laggy as hell scrolling in iTunes and something else weird is when I click Apple+Q to quit a program the menu bar disappears until I click the mouse again. Is this normal?

Either way, I'm pretty happy. Very snappy.

My iTunes was initially very laggy (compared to a base 2011 imac) and I had the disappearing menu, It's been fine since running software update and restarting.

That disappearing menu bar seems to be a bug then. Glad to know it's already fixed.

Mine is "with delivery courier" now. Can't wait!

Ordered my Air, 13"/i5/8GB/256GB SSD on June 24th and got dispatch notification this morning. According to Apple the estimated delivery date is July 8th. I'm hoping it would get here sooner though, Friday 5th would be nice. Can't wait! :)

Hi,

I just ordered a MBA 2013 11" i5 8GB 256 along with the Airport Extreme to utilise the new 802.11ac WiFi speeds :)

I'm based in the UK and have been given a delivery estimate of July 8 - 10

I'm moving from a 2011 13" MBP so am looking forward to the additional portability of the 11"

Happy days!

Just opened up my new 2013 13" MBA this morning. Going from 2012 cMBP I like it a lot more in terms of portability and BATTERY.

I'm a college student so I know this is gonna be perfect to use in the library and local coffee shops. One sacrifice though is the discreet graphics card that was in the cMBP. Looks like I'll be quitting games, but I suppose it was inevitable as I go through college.

I did notice that the display was definitely more inferior and washed out than the Retina Macbooks in store, but I calibrated the colors and it looks a lot better now

Overall, I'm loving the battery and this SSD. So fast! :D

Just ordered mine today with financing. My first mac ever. Cant wait for this baby to show up. Excited.

i7 + 256GB SSD + 8 MB

I plan to use it for iOS dev and also run Win8 on Virtual Box or parallels where I can do Android and Win8 development.

Update: Laggy scrolling and disappearing menu bar is fixed.

Now, every once in awhile the screen blacks out. Scary. I was just working away and it went to sleep and wouldn't wake for 30 seconds or so. Happens about once a day.

Heat management is amazing though. Haven't heard the fans or felt heat yet working with multiple docs and YouTube vids.

Shipping Progress on Weekends?

Just curious. Ordered an MBA on Wednesday, the 26th, and sometime last night, Apple hit my credit card and the status on the "update" site went to being prepared for shipping.

Does that status change over the weekend, or does pickup wait until business hours Hong Kong time on Monday, which would be about 8 pm EDT in the USA, since that Chinese city is 12 hours later than we are.

Not a biggie...just wondering if the carriers work weekends for Apple over there.

 :)

Review of the 2013 13” Macbook Air (256GB)

I definitely am a technology buff and when it comes to laptops, I tend to replace them every two years. This time is no exception, since I bought my Late 2011 Macbook Pro there have been lots of advances that I want to take advantage of. Mainly USB 3.0 and USB Drives but at 44 years old the 1280 X 800 screen wasn’t really working for me any longer as well.

I have always known in the past which machine I wanted to procure. This time it has never been more difficult. I wanted to start my own Blog and I wanted to learn Xcode. Not necessarily to produce apps but just to learn it.

When the Developer conference happened something in me changed a little bit. I took notice of the Macbook Air. Once the reviews were released I was even more impressed. It was outperforming the Macbook Pro 13” Retina. I could not help but wonder if my needs would not be served by picking up one of these machines. I took a gamble and got the Macbook Air with 4GB of Ram and 256 GB of Memory. I have to say that this little machine works circles around my old Macbook Pro. The screen resolution is much better (though still not retina) and the machine just fly’s. I have not had the wifi problems others have experienced but I have an airport router (older N).

I have even opened Aperture for photo editing and Xcode to start learning development and so far so good. I will tell you that compiling does lag a bit but nothing major so far. The Air, for me at least, doesn't get hot at all. I am still concerned about the lack of RAM and feel that I probably should get more, however thoughts of the 15” Macbook Pro are slowly leaving my head. I think this with a monitor may be fine. If you aren’t doing any development I can tell you that this machine does zip along even with it’s 4GB of RAM and I rarely hear the fan go on. The battery power is extraordinary.

If you are Joe user this machine is an easy recommend. I don’t even think most users would need the 8GB of RAM. If you are going to throw Windows on here you may want to update to maxed out Air. Now the only question is what do I do with my iPad?
