Picked up my base-model MBA 13" today from BestBuy for $899 after discounts.

Didn't need it at all. But for the price, I was having trouble walking away. Love everything about it so far.

Agreed on the price...and while I didn't NEED it, I could really use a travel work laptop...

As of today, I was told it would take until the 12th to get to the store(I leave on a business trip, that morning, before they open). However, checking inStore pickup tonight, I see they have units available for pickup tomorrow.

I'll be contacting them in the morning if I do not receive a "ready To Pickup" email.

Edit: Update...based on the status, they told me they could not do anything other then wait. However, they looked up it's tracking info, and it is scheduled to arrive in the store on the 9th. Annoying, but at least crisis is averted.

Congratulations!

And nope, just turn it on. You can charge it up while you're using it, if you like. Though make sure you remove all the plastic wrapping, obviously. :)

Thanks after 3 years of waiting for "the latest one" I finally have in on a bestbuy sale, so excited!!!

Thanks!! First MacBook Air.

Also, if I plug my iPhone into iTunes will it download everything onto the computer? I want to try and keep nothing on it since I have limited space,

What do you recommend me doing?

----------

So I just purchased my MBA and I'm deciding on an account name, does it matter if I use my full name? And is the account name just a username?

Well my replacement MBA finally arrived.

It went from:

China > Korea > Kazakhstan > Poland > Germany > Britain ... then it failed the first delivery, got it re-directed and finally have it.

Pretty much perfect all but a tiny scratch on the top right of the KB (only visible in certain light though).

Samsung screen and SSD :)

You can pretty much put anything in that bookbag

so it would appear. i'm looking for something for my 11" that can also hold LARGE books. i really like the everki bags (lke yours) but i'm also thinkinkg about their Atlas, which appears to be pretty new.

My new 2013 MBA is shipping, but I'm confused. FedEx originally estimated that it would come today, but then yesterday they moved the estimate to Monday. However, on the tracking page this morning it said it's on the vehicle for delivery. The location it got on the truck was just 30 minutes away from me, so do you think it will deliver today? There can't be THAT many other packages to deliver that it can't go 25 miles in a day, right?

Yeah mine is currently in transit, Done the exact same route as yours however due to it being a weekend I presume it will just speck off until Monday, The estimated delivery was 12-14th however UPS says the 13th. Either way we will see :) £1150 is a shed load of money for me tbh but I just needed a fast lightweight machine, oh and it looks awesome!

I'm sure I will get use to it over time & have read a few articles on changing your user habits however can anyone suggest anything to make the transfer from Windows to OSX a little easier :p

Thanks guys!

I keep hearing people say they got the Samsung screen and ssd. What's wrong with the LG components? Or why is samsung superior?

Some people can't tell the difference once the LG screen is calibrated properly (me included) but others definitely find the Samsung more desirable.

The SSD is meant to be faster I believe.

I'm just glad I got the Samsung SSD and screen combination to be on the safer side.

Personally I wouldn't have been too bothered if I had got the LG screen / Toshiba SSD.

Hi Everybody!

Well, I just placed an order for my first MacBook ever

I am kind of nervous because its a lot of money to spend on a laptop who's OS you haven't used extensively. For the last 5 years I had an old XP machine and wanted to upgrade but I tried out Windows 8 and disliked it.

I'm sure I'll find some as I search but are there any newbie tips you can give me to help ease my butterflies?

Just got the email to pick up my new MBA 13" (i5, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) from the store! Upgrading from a late 2008 aluminum MB. Now if I could only get off work...

NewbieToMacs, I made a thread on the MacBook Air forums called "New MacBook Air: Things I Should Know/Do". I also switched from Windows recently. Some people were giving great advice, so it might help!

Thank you jadAce for the reply,

I really like your thread, I had thought about making one like that myself but once I saw yours you asked just the right questions for someone new like me. I particularly like your tip on always saying you got the 8gb of RAM upgrade no matter what ;)

I look forward to joining the Mac community here and helping others out the way you do.

Cheers

Unbelievable. My 2013 13/i7/8/256 was at my doorstep about to be delivered this morning (two days early!). I'm a pretty heavy sleeper, and when the doorbell rang my 13-year-old brother "didn't want to open the door for a stranger," even if it was just the FedEx guy. The nearest distribution center is a 1.5 hour drive away, so I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to get my new machine.

First-world problems, I know.
