I just ordered a 500GB Fusion (Hybrid) Seagate and a USB3 enclosure to go with my new (in transit) 64GB Air. This is my road computer to replace my iPad. I will use the internal SSD when at Airports and the Fusion for boot, run my programs and hold my data when in my hotel room.

As stated earlier, my home Mac is a souped up MacPro.

11" i7/8/256 - From China to Raleigh NC in 2 days

I was dumbfounded that the Macbook Air moved so quickly across the globe to my door.

I am in a pub typing on the MBA. It's perfect for me. I do not understand the whining about i7 or 8MB RAM. If you don't care about a few hundred dollars, and you favor the MBA form factor, why would you care that some jerkoff on the internet is laughing that you could have saved $150? Who cares?

I tried a top notch $2k 15" Sager gaming laptop with Windows for the past 3 years. Even with an upgraded 1080 screen and BluRay drive - Windows is crap to me. I was in IT for 10 years, including 3 as a SysAdmin. What a relief it is to be back on OSX. I had an iPad3 - it was awesome but I can't write my novel on it very conveniently. This little 11" MBA will put out anywhere I spread her limbs wide open. My wife has a 2012 13" MBA and I just don't need that big of a screen.

I have yet to find a YouTube video-making setup as convenient as an MBA with iMovie. I would lament having to lug the 8lb Sager and power supply (because its battery life was crap) to a room with a USB camera (because its camera was crap). I've been at the pub for 2 hours with a bright screen and I'm still only at 75%. The Sager would be nearly out of battery life by now.

AAAaaaaanyway...love the new world order. Hope all of you browsing these pages killing time as you wait for your MBA are encouraged - this is a sweet ride. Don't let some technophile with a knack for saving a few bucks dissuade you from getting what you really want.

I finally ordered my very first OSX device. A 13" i7/8gb/512Gb MBA. Should be here Tuesday. I am super excited and keep visiting the tracking page multiple times a day.

Update: I just got my MBA a day earlier (today) than promised, good job Apple and FedEx.

I finally decided to go to Mac again from switching to a self-built Windows Gaming PC a couple of months ago. I just ordered the 13"/i5/8/256. The reason why went back to Mac is that the gaming PC that I built has at least dozen freezes a day, lost interest in pc gaming, and the famous unrecognized USB device popups eventhough all devices work.

Just joined, first post

Ordered a base model 2013 13" Air on the 16th and got it on the 21st! This is my first Apple product ever (I'm not a kid either) and i'm very pleased with it. I just held out for as long as I could, but I've always wanted an air. And now I got one!

As far as ultrabooks go, I think Apple got a winner with the new MBAs. The main clincher for me was the battery life, and it doesn't disappoint.

Well said! I agree 100%. People tend to sway off topic in these forums, it's quite annoying. If you feel like spending 1500 on a MBA, just do it!:apple:

Like many here I've just ordered a 13" i5/8/256 MacBook Air. I can't wait! I'm just hoping it comes before I go back to school.

I ordered my new Macbook Air 13"/i7/8/256 on Aug 20th and it shipped out on the 23rd. Its been a couple of days and is expected to ship on the 29th, but I think it will ship a day earlier since it has already left Louisville, KY earlier today.

I put in my tracking info so others can see if it is taking the same route or not. Right now it is on route to Mount Hope, ON then maybe either (hopefully) Concord,ON or Buffalo, NY. (I live in Concord btw)

I have received my MBA 2013 13" I7 8GB 512MB. I then instealled Bootcamp , Windows 8, and Crysis immediately. It feels hotter than the MBA 2013 I5 during gaming. I could feel the hot air blowing from the keyboard on the left hand side. But it is definitely faster however. :)

How well does Crysis run?

Well, I just ordered the base 13 mba along with a refurbished i7 mac mini. One to bring along and one to play with at home. Not sure if I need the 8gb of ram since I'll have the quad core mini at home but I have 14 days to find out!

Finally.

After a much belabored purchase decision I picked up the Macbook Air.

Coming from a late 09' Macbook (2.26/4/250) and an 05' iBook before that, I really wanted to go retina but that only led to the whole, well it's only $200 for this and that, and eventually I was looking at the 2.7/16/512 model and while I could have bought one new on eBay for $2250...I don't really need all that computing power. 70% of what I do is surf the internet with 10% to streaming tv/movies, 10% to work related tasks (word/excel - basic stuff) and 10% to light photo editing and misc tasks. I also toyed with a 27" iMac (as I don't own a TV and this would be a fantastic screen to have around) and keeping my current laptop for when needed.

So why the Air? Price was right and I could actually justify this purchase. Rationalizing spending $2100+ on a new computer did not work in my brain. This did, so today i picked up a 13" 1.3/4/256 from best buy for the grand total of $1082 ($1234 - $100 student coupon and then used discounted gift cards from cardmall.com, no sales tax in OR)

Maybe when or if the retina iPad mini comes out, I will then be able to easier justify that purchase....

Got a two month old 2013 11" off of CL from a computer science student for $800. Lost on the screen lottery, but the custom LG calibration makes it a non issue.

Forgot how light and small this form factor was since my 2010 model. Easily thrown into a bag or briefcase without a thought.

And the Haswell battery life....OMG! I think my iPad3 is about to get demoted to e-reader or stay at home content consumption device.

Received my 2013 MBA today after 5 long days of travelling. It works wonderfully and surprisingly came with %100 battery, so I didnt even have to charge it. Very happy so far :D

8 days and a bank holiday weekend later, got my Macbook Air i5/256/8, and my god its gorgeous. Also got a Samsung display so super happy with that.
This thing is faster than a bullet. Incredible piece of engineering!
