Ordered the MacBook Air Saturday from B&H. 2012model with the 11.6" screen and 64GB SSD. It will be replacing an iPad that I've used for the last 3 years. I guess I'm not a tablet person, as I really hated the limitations of the iPad. I used it with a ZaggMate cover and keyboard, 2 of them failed. I'm now using the ZaggMate as a cover only and using a Logitech keyboard. My home computer is a souped up Mac Pro. The iPad was used only on trips. I use my Motorola Droid 3 as a HotSpot.

I can't wait to have a real computer again when I travel:eek:

Lou

Well i got it Monday, and I luv it. A real Mac:eek: It's got the Samsung display and the Toshiba 64GB SSD. I'll be using the SSD only when I'm mobile (airports and such) and then only for internet access. Most programs have been removed from the SSD.

I also bought a Seagate 500GB Hybrid (Fusion) SSHD for use when I'm in a hotel room or in a settled location. The drive is in a Orico USB3 enclosure. The Seagate/Orico combo is small and very portable.

I'm happy with the display and the overall performance for such a small piece of equipment.

Gotta Love price protection

Up in Canada Apple sells the macbook air for $1099 plus tax. Got one on a back to school sale from futureshop (similar to bestbuy) for $999 which made me happy. Best Buy Canada had a price error and advertised it for $899 for a short period this morning so I flew over and got a pricematch for $889 on it just prior to them correcting it back up to $999! Sweet score considering I had used $500 worth of gift cards to buy it so it came to just a bit over $400 out of pocket

Ordered an 11" / i5 / 8 GB / 256 GB from the online Apple Store on Aug 27th. Shipped on Aug 29th, currently still leaving China via UPS.

Back in 2011, I had bought the a 11" and loved it. However, after a few months, I had to sell it for one reason in particular, the lack of RAM. It was the minimum configuration: i5 (Sandy Bridge 1.6 GHz) / 2 GB / 64 GB, so I was constantly very, very short on RAM. Plus, battery life left much to be desired, between 2 and 4 hours with my usage.

Now I've got a 15" Retina MBP, it would be perfect if it wasn't for the weight, so-so battery life (4 to 5 hours), and having to juggle between the i and dGPU -- and I need change, having had it for one+ year, eternity in me-time.

I want to try the 11" again, especially now that I can configure it with 8 GB of RAM, and can expect at least 6 hours of battery life thanks to those Haswell processors, so as to not worry so much about the battery draining while unplugged. Waiting (im)patiently...

Ordered my MacBook Air 13/i5/8/128 on Thursday, and I can barely contain the excitement! Waiting in Shanghai to ship out, estimated delivery September 6th. I'm going to be out of the country when it gets here, so I'll have to wait until the 14th to get my hands on it!

Ordered a custom MBA and some accessories on the 27th, shipped from China on the 29th, and from that day I haven't seen any progress in the tracking. Flextronics tracking still says Manifested and no UPS/TNT # is appearing yet.

Should I be worried?

ordered my 13" i5/8GB/128GB - don't need the processing power or storage for commute & casual work.

hoping to have it by Friday, but it says Est. delivery Sept. 11 - 13th

is BTO usually much later or would they have this in stock?

Both times I've ordered a BTO, it came from their Chinese factories. My 11" Air BTO ordered on Aug 27 was originally scheduled to be delivered between Sep 4 and Sep 6, later narrowed to Sep 5. According to the UPS tracking, that's accurate (should arrive tomorrow). So I think you should actually expect delivery around the dates you quoted.

Ordered a 13" i7/8gb/256 last night. Estimated delivery is Sept 10-12 as I paid $18 for faster shipping.

I actually need it sooner :(. Has anyone got it in less then a week?

Yes, I've received two BTO's in 6 days before from China, to Eastern Canada. They ship damn fast! :D

Thanks. I figured that might be the case. I ordered on the 3rd and it said it was labeled and waiting for UPS to pick it up (stating the 5th) with CN which probably means China.

'Merica!
I don't think anyone who customized a Mac product got it in less than a week.

Estimated delivery is Sept 10-12 too but I didn't pay extra, the delivery is free.

I did. Ordered on a Monday. Shipped on a Friday. Arrived by FedEx from Shanghai the following Monday. I did pay the 14.95 for expedited shipping..
