Thinking I may replace my 15” MBP (quad i7, 16GB, 512GB, GT750M) with the MBA 16GB, 512GB. I would lose some screen size and some peripheral ports but would gain so much!

I also wonder if I can get away with the base model…

I did this and it worked beautifully. I didn’t need a large computer anymore and don’t notice changes in day to day performance. The M1 model is actually more responsive and the battery life is insane. If you need lots of power though (in my case, I’m not doing insane workflows), you may want to research further to confirm.

It just hurts to think that the capability won’t be there if I need it, I probably could get away with the base model but it only has USB C so I can’t even get a dinky 256gig thumb drive to keep plugged in

There are thumb drives that connect via USB-c, I picked this one up from Amazon a few weeks ago

and a 256gb version exists.

Yeah but they are too big to leave plugged in. I have a bunch of these Sandisk Ultra fit in 32 and 128 gig. But now they won’t fit. I keep seeing some good offers on the refurbished store £220 off a 8 GPU core 16g/512g isn’t bad

I purchased a made to order m1 16gb and 512gb configuration last week. Not received yet from Apple but will send it back as after testing the base model and looking at reviews I don't need the extras for my needs.

Managed to grab a used one

Apple MacBook Air M1 , 2020, 8gb, 256gb Pristine, Silver, Only 27 batt cycles for £635

Sold my old MacBook 12 2017 for £350 so really happy.

Well guys I finally did it. Got me an M1 MBA on the way with 8x8 CPU/GPU combo and 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD! Space Gray color as well.

Gonna sell my 2015 15” MBP to recoup some losses but since everyone is swearing by how great these M1’s are I decided to get in on the action!

I still want to eventually get a 2021 MBP but I’m not a huge power user so I think this one will hold me for a while yet.

Can’t wait until it arrives!

After owning 2012 MBP 15” 18gb ram, 1tb storage, now it is the time to add another MBA in my collection. I just bought early 2020 refurbished MBA 13.3” 8gb ram, 256gb storage for $650! I was planning to buy a new one after the next WWDC. But I cannot pass this deal.

I ordered my first MacBook Air 13.3 inch with M1, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB Storage.

Trying to find a decent but not over the top sleeve, since everything I have is meant for a 15.4 or 15.6 inch machine.

Haven't had anything toward the low end since the polycarbonate white MacBook with integrated nVidia 6100 graphics back in the day. My current mid-2012 MacBook Pro with 3rd generation quad-core i7 is a heat maker and has poor resolution.

I have found reputable etsy sellers to be the best place for sleeves. Typically much higher quality than the chinese made junk that sells for the same prices or higher on places like amazon.

Thanks.

I ended up finding this Incase sleeve that was on sale at the time for the week of Earth Day. It's quite nice and goes well with the gold. Since every backpack or other case was for a 15.x inch machine, it helps insulate it nicely.

Bought a new M1 MBA today, from Best Buy (was slightly discounted; base model). I know the MBA is due for a refresh but that model is probably going to have teething issues (all new products do). I'm extremely happy using the 2020 model.

I know they were saying its available from July, but I thought pre-orders might open up before then.

Where did you get the used one?

I am upgrading from an Intel i3 MBA and have decided to go with an m1. The announcement that Wingtech will be assembling the m2 is affirmation that I have made the right decision.
