Yikes - my BTO is still being processed for late July - early August delivery.

I'm going to have to resort to AR to not keep pressing F5 on the order status-page on Apple.com 😆

I ordered a BTO Midnight 10/16/512 immediately when the store opened with an estimated delivery of Aug. 2-9.

This delivery timeframe is still available if I ordered now. Wondering if us that ordered when the store opened will receive it early. I guess we just have to wait and see. :)

My UPS guy doesn’t get to my house until between 5 and 7 pm and sometimes bails before he delivers (did that with my iPhone 13 pro). UPS customer center opens at 7:30 am or 8:30 am depending on which one I go to. You have to hold it specifically at a customer center, not a UPS store if you want same day pickup. Hope that helps!
My tracking updated to Friday this morning as well. I changed my delivery to my local UPS store and it still says it will be delivered by Friday. 🤞

The one here in Chicago opens at 8, I’ll have to see if I feel like waking up early enough to go all the way downtown, and then all the way out to the airport. 🤔 thanks for the pro tip, though!

Another twist - I changed my package to hold at UPS CC, and now they are saying that it will be available for pickup as of 7/14. So we will see if I can actually pick it up the day before. May be worth exploring on your end. As it is, picking it up Friday and traveling from Florida to London Saturday will certainly be a lot on my plate, so grabbing it on the way to the airport may be not fun, although setting it up when you get to Toronto is better than waiting!

Mine is BTO (10 core, 16 gigs ram, 1tb drive, midnight, compact charger) and I have a 7/15 delivery date.
Im curious, it seems there are some configs with 16GB/1TB ready for this Friday but everything else involving additional RAM is Early August ...
I believe this config has a 7/15 delivery is because even though this model is technically "BTO", it is also the "best" config Apple plans on stocking in stores. (Apple stocks good/better/best configs in stores. In this case the two base models are "good" and "better", the 10/16/1tb is "best")

Yeah. Even if I don’t make it on Friday, it’ll at least be safely waiting for me when I arrive home Monday. But knowing it’s delivered and not being able to play with it will probably drive me mad!

I’m going to be out of the country for 2 whole weeks, so I’m not willing to stew over it that long if I can avoid it!! 😂

When I bought the M1 MBA last year, there were always two models in stock: the base model, and the 16GB/1TB model. I figure both were the most profitable for Apple. I ended up opting for the latter because I needed it for a trip and couldn't wait the month for the 512GB model. This time I'm fine waiting as my current MBA will go to my wife after I get the M2 anyway.

So better is what? 10/16/1TB? Or you said 'best', which techically isn't best, but... (I'm lost LOL)

... so am I. I didn't say either were better, just that those appeared to be the two models with the highest profit margin to demand ratio for Apple, which is why they apparently made more of them to keep in stock. I would have been fine with the 16/512 but as I said I needed a replacement right away due to leaving that week for work so opted for the 16/1TB. I would not be shocked to see Apple do the same, ie prioritize production of the base and 16/1TB model making both the easiest to find in store.

I’m in the exact same boat, keep checking on both. I hope I didn’t wake up early and rush for no reason… fingers crossed we get it in the next couple of weeks!

I was debating colors until I see them in store, but decided on starlight and just placed my order for 8/24GB/1TB with July 26 - Aug 2 delivery. I hope it will arrive sooner.

Did your status change on the Apple website? I don’t have it in my ups account (I can’t log with the iCloud email that I used to purchase) and the status is currently “preparing to ship” and “arrives 15 July”.

I also hope that it will come on time, what is your experience with UPS during Apple releases? My first time ordering from Apple in the US

Agree.

UPS has always been reliable for me. Be aware that sometimes for high price items they require someone at the address to sign for the delivery, but you do have the option of printing and signing a release form you can leave on your door if you won’t be around. Those times I wasn’t able to be in person I just requested a hold at the hub or the closest UPS store, whichever was closer.

Maybe a bit off-topic, but this is the memory usage on my MBP mid-2012 with Safari, Reminders and WhatsApp running:

View attachment 2028497

Is memory usage lower on Apple-silicon Macs? I'm in doubt whether the base model with 8GB would be enough.
Some people say memory usage is lower on the M-series, but I've not detected that nor have I heard anyone give a rational explanation for it. I'd recommend at least 16-GB unless you are really doing only web stuff and office apps and not pushing your system very hard; you risk doing a fair amount of memory swapping...

I ordered the basic in starlight. My delivery date is between 8/3 and 8/10. That will give me time to watch reviews. I almost ordered midnight but shied away at the last minute. I also didn't get apple care +, hope I don't regret that.

Do you know if in the US, UPS gives the number of the courier? I ordered it in my name but it will be probably picked by someone in the reception. Will the person at the reception be able to pick it up?

They don’t provide the couriers number but you can track their progress on the app. Download the app and set up and account and you’ll receive notifications of progress and you’ll be able to request a delivery window and provide delivery instructions like “leave at front desk/reception” etc.

So I logged onto UPS my choice and found my M2 MacBook Air has already shipped and departed China. It has a rescheduled delivery date of July 13. Is anyone else seeing this with their machines? I know Apple holds back iPhone deliveries (every year), but do they normally do this with Mac deliveries too? I didn’t think so. Would be exciting to get it 2 days early!
Interesting. My card was charged today for my 16/512 order, but it is still "processing" and scheduled for a 7/22-7/26 delivery. Usually when the card is charged, it switches to "preparing for shipment."
