I keep hoping my Midnight 10/16/512 will magically jump from 8/2-9 ordered at 8:03am Eastern will jump to Preparing to Ship, but alas there it sits, still Processing. I could have had a Space Grey 10/16/1TB Friday morning with in store pickup, but I really want that Midnight color and I'm not going to be stuck paying for twice as much storage as I need a second time because unlike with my M1 MBA a year and a half ago now it's just impatience irritating me, not absolute necessity because I'm leaving town for work in two days and my daily driver died a sad, final death.
Ordered my MBA SG base model through the UK education store this afternoon.
Later had an email saying payment had been declined — turns out Apple was trying to charge the card the £120 for the gift card separately from the Mac. Bank was presumably confused by multiple charges and declined. Tried different cards and no luck.
Hopefully bank will be able to resolve without too much issue tomorrow 🙄

Mine came in yesterday, finally. It was supposed to be with me on Friday, but the people in UPS, messed up not loading it on the truck. Got scared for a second. I’m just glad it’s here.

Hmm. I was waiting for something Saturday that was on the plane to the local hub, and then, unexplained, went back to Memphis and sat the weekend. It was close enough, I could have driven to pick it up, off the plane, before its second trip, to Memphis...
Reminds me of the shipment coming from 100 miles away that went to Portland Oregon, TWICE!!! 🙄
How long does it usually take between “preparing to ship” to “shipped”
Finally got the shipping notification from Apple this morning! Wild thing is, while I have a tracking number, it’s not updated in UPS with any info. In all my previous Apple preorders it’s always in UPS My Choice first before Apple ever acknowledges anything. Anywho, excited to see an ETA from UPS soon hopefully!

My Starlight 8/16/512 left Louisville this afternoon at 3:37. Gonna be a long day tomorrow because UPS doesn’t usually deliver until after 6pm.

Apple is still quoting my delivery as 7/22-7/26 so there is hope for you!
This might be the wrong place for this but I’m starting to second guess my decision to go with midnight. Currently, I have an 8/16/256 configuration pre-ordered but am thinking about canceling it and ordering the space grey instead. The whole fingerprint issue is really starting to worry me. I think I’m going to try to visit my local Apple store this week to see both colors in person and help me decide what to do. The estimated delivery date for my current order is between 8/2 - 8/9. Whatever I end up doing though I want to make sure that I have a laptop by the end of August as I’m going to Europe and want to take my laptop with me. Anyway, I would love to get some input from those who ordered (and have perhaps since taken receipt of) either the midnight or space grey colors and what your reasons were for doing so.
the space gray will be just like the current MacBooks pros. I saw the midnight in the store, it does show fingerprints but just carry a small microfiber with you in your bag.
Even my space gray 16 MacBook Pro shows grime and I need to clean it. its just life.
Mine still shows that it's in Louisville, probably because UPS hasn't operated a SDF-ATL flight yet today. Still scheduled for delivery tomorrow afternoon... Thanks, and yeah my 2016 MBP was space grey. I thought I’d change it up by going with midnight this time. I’m really OCD about handling my tech so my hope would be that that along with regularly using a microfiber cloth would help to minimize any excessive fingerprinting. Still hoping to get to my local Apple store this week though to see the new MBA design in both colors.

Honestly I don’t know what’s going on with these shipments and UPS. I was tracking mine and it said the driver was here. When I went downstairs to get it, coincidentally it was the only package missing. I thought it was weird. Had to call multiple times to UPS, finally came in the next day.
Hopefully yours comes soon. I feel you. It’s frustrating.
Finally, the order status changed to “Shipped”. But there is not yet any tracking information.
Does Apple always use UPS? My order (Starlight/8-core/16/512) moved on the Apple site yesterday to "Preparing to Ship," with an arrival range of July 25-August, but a few minutes ago I got an email from Fed Ex that a package has shipped from Shanghai from Tech-Com. I think that has to be my Air, but I was surprised as everyone else is talking about expecting it to ship with UPS.
Edit: Just noticed that Description # on the FedEx site matches my Apple order, so it is definitely my Air.

did you can an email with tracking etc? I'm still in the preparing to ship stage. I was hopping to see some movement tonight.
I have the same shipping notification from Fedex. Does your order happens to be an education order? Looks like they ship education order through Fedex and UPS for regular orders. I guess.
