I’ve noticed no in store pick up option too but wasn’t sure why they would change this now. Some base models seem to be shippable to store still. Assumming they want to avoid in store pick up foot traffic and process hassle? Hope they change this as in store pickup is more convenient for many.
It happens sometimes that they do their administration at some point in their route. To speed up delivery of the individual packages the driver just scans and signs all packages as delivered for the next leg of their journey. This actually happened to me once before. I also had this, delivered at "office". I called UPS to verify where the package was delivered and they said to me that I had to wait for another hour or so before calling again. Some drivers have this practice. Now, not to say that this is happening to you now but it could be that the package is close to delivery.

Oh I get where you are right now. I'm a nerve wreck when something expensive has to be delivered (or when I'm doing a trade-in). Constantly checking the app, is the package still en-route? Peeking from the windows, is the driver in the street? I hate myself for doing that but nonetheless, I keep doing it. Just for that reason if there's the option for pickup in the Apple store, I'll choose that option.
I’ve never been nervous about deliveries (my husband does that for the 2 of us 😆) but that’s been forever ruined now I guess. Apple adviced me to order a new one because of the delivery time. Now I wish I chose delivery at Apple Store… Delivery between Aug 11-18 😩
Ugh .. I do hope the package still turns up but yeah, I get where they're coming from. Better to order a second one but cancel it if the MBA still turns up in the coming days. I do hope it still gets delivered today though!

If that's wrong, then I'm pretty much just as messed up...already checked my order at least 5 times today.

Scary to read and sorry to hear! Something straight out of (those delivery-related) nightmares. 😳 It sounds you were on the ball with contacting them as soon as the mistake happened so I don’t follow on why they couldn’t get in touch with the driver right away. Any update since?
Thanks. Have called UPS three times today, and finally half an hour ago I was called back. They haven’t been able to contact the driver (all day??). They could see the GPS where the scan was made wasn’t in my neighborhood. They say that sometimes happens (I guess when a driver scans the packages in advance?) but that it’s weird that there’s a name John who supposedly signed for it, and it’s weird that is says it was left at an office while my address is a normal apartment. They can’t help me today but hopefully tomorrow. Am not holding my breath…

In the US also on the east coast. It’s stuck in the Lexington KY sort. Unlikely to make it to our terminal today much less to a truck for delivery.
