So it turns out the UPS put it at our patio door in the backyard (which is not a main entrance point for my household, we only really use it when we go on the back deck to bbq right now). I was so annoyed as the driver marked it as delivered at "Front Door". It sat outside for a good 4 hours after delivery, 2 of those in the sun but it seems to be working fine. I should also mention that if my SO hadn't checked at the back patio door, it would've been left all night and we had a super crazy thunderstorm last night.
Not a good experience but glad to hear you found it! That would have otherwise been a long wait for a replacement.

Here is a great chuckle of how pathetic Apple Inc is, and our nightmare in Canada:

My 15 year old who is working bought her own MBA, originally we bought the 8/256, and after a 2 week wait it was lost in transit a week before our Vacation. We were told at the time they would compensate us $200, and she decided to upgrade to the 512, and they would reorder for us. Given a ship date while we were in Florida we were informed by Apple that the PC shipped to our local store, and received UPS notification. Next day we get back we show up at the store and guess what? No PC! After an hour and a bit of aggravation with the store Manager and Apple it was discovered the puter was shipped and recieved, but under the original order # which was cancelled as it was lost (fell off a truck..!). The twits returned this to Apple, and we are down 2 puters.

After long discussion we were told we'd get another $200 compensation, along with the BTS rebate and have the computer shipped to our home. As a gesture the store gave us a complimentary Magsafe portable charger for her iPhone, so not a bad deal to have to wait. Few days later Apple tells us they won't apply the two credits for our frustration and took one away, but ordred the computer and put a rush on it.

Sigh at all this garbage. One guy at Corporate said call back when the MBA arrives and they wil see if they can do anything for us. Ridiculous, and unnecessary hot garbage from them...ETA is now Monday, so let's see

Mine has just been shipped. It says it'll be delivered on the 30th.
Nice one! I’m still stuck in Processing purgatory, when did you get the status preparing for shipment?
curiously my card hold disappeared and has reappeared today with a new date. But being stuck on processing, I do not know if that is significant.

My credit card was charged yesterday at 16:40h. It is still in "processing" with delivery date 07-14 sept. It has not been updated yet.

Was it charged (posted) or pending? My estimate is the 2nd - 8th September, I have the pending charge but money hasn't been taken. Certainly a good sign if money has actually been taken!

I went to bed on Thursday night, and when I woke up on Friday, it had shipped, so I missed the preparing to send stage.

That's interesting, so it was just "processing" on Thursday afternoon / evening? Quick preparing time.

Just going by the time zone in China I presume at this time of day on a Friday, the earliest anything could be expected to happen is Monday. Unless they really are working the factory workers hard...

It is a bank holiday here on Monday, so we don't get things happening until Tuesday at the earliest.

6 days from the time the card was charged until today, when the shipment has preparing for shipment?
I ordered silver which seems to be the lower volume colour so I think you might get yours sooner, but yes that sounds about right with. I'll keep an eye on the turaround time for shipped status, but expect to receive it around September 2nd which was the first delivery day!

Another update from me, marked as shipped and coming from China to the UK via DHL Express. Anyone else with this carrier?

Edit: Now it has been picked up. Blimey this is a fast process, suggests to me the excess demand is the sole reason behind the wait. They seem to have no problems with component supplies or logistics.

Well, I spent most of the afternoon yesterday setting up the MBA and I have to say I love it. Even though I went with the cheapest MBA M1 you can buy it does everything I want with no trouble at all. It took me a little while to get comfortable with the keyboard but I find that is true with all laptops.

This will easily do everything that I want. The battery seems good although it is probably a bit early to say.

I am sure it will get even better re battery life once it finishes indexing, about a week? Great to hear you got it.

Was this via DHL? I gather the tracking messages stop after it’s “left facility in china” before reaching the Uk.

Pretty sure it was DHL. I got the shipping notice to the local delivery point, and it went immediately to being delivered that day.
