As mentioned above, because it saved me £200 while I do not need 512 GB of storage. Also, my workload can be handled entirely by 16GB of RAM, which results in zero SSD swap. So 8GB was less likely to future-proof my device and more likely to result in swap.Seems madness to upgrade the ram to 16gb but stick with 256, don’t get it.
Hence, the slower speeds few people who actually use the device have noticed in real-world usage are avoided entirely.
Entirely rational, I think!
