I drove out to an Apple store in near Milwaukee (from the Madison area) to pick up a maxed out 11.6" (1.6Ghz/4GB/128GB). Since none of the parts are user upgradeable, I figured it was best to get the max ram and SSD available (didn't much care if I got the upgraded CPU, but that is what they had in stock).

So far I am loving it. I was very critical of the first MBA's and didn't much see the point of the 13.3" MBA's (I care more about form factor then "thinness". The 11.6" finally gave me a reason to replace my various netbooks (and kept me from picking up a new baby Thinkpad...which would've given me more bang-for-the-buck, but I can't pick one of those up locally and I am the impatient type) :)

For the tasks I have thrown at it, this MBA is dead silent, cool, and VERY snappy! All thumbs up so far.

Argh! I got up this morning and checked the tracking number on UPS (that handles the delivery of my 11" MBA). Planned delivery date was the 4:th, but apple has always delivered a day or two early for all my previous orders, so I was hoping to see it this wednesday or so. Then I see a "New Date" flag on my shipment. It's now changed to the 8:th :eek::(

This means it won't even be here this week, not until Monday. Noooooo!

Tracking to UK

Hi guys...

I know this is a noob question but i just need to ask.

Where do you guys obtain the actual carrier tracking info?

How would I know if its fedex, ups etc.

I live in the UK.

Waiting for my macbook air anxiously...

i ordered on the 25...

Hi,
Not a noob question at all if you've never ordered from Apple before. I suspect you're in the same position as me. I ordered on 28th (been playing with a base-spec 13.3 that will be returned to Apple, Cambridge UK), and the max MBA was shipped yesterday, 1 November.
If I follow the 'track order' button through it mentions Kuhne & Nagel and says carrier and tracking number to be updated 'shortly'! 'Shortly' is an Apple misnomer or euphemism 'cos my word would be 'ages'-it feels like ages when you're dying to play with your new Apple!
I ordered Applecare with the student discount & in UK we usually get a 'merge in transit' & this also means we can't track from China. The next info for us will be carrier info & tracking number after 'ages', but the good news is that then within a day or so we'll have it.
When I phoned Apple Cambridge last weekend they told me they had all the models so it was really frustrating to learn they only had the base models-I talked myself into buying the 13.3. It is great & I have more Mac computing power in the house, but the maxed out MBA will also provide that when I'm abroad. (I run Windows through VM or Parallels in order to use voice-recognition software-hence the need for computing power). It seems in the US maxed out MBA's are available in some Apple stores & I would have thought it would have been good business for Apple to do that here also.
Hope this is useful.

Yeah roger, tks alot!

I will just sit tight and wait for the MBA to come!

So if i manage to see the carrier info and tracking number, it means my MBA will be here soon?

Mine shipped from Shanghai this morning by Fedex with an expected delivery date of 11/9. I've seen some people receiving their MBA a couple of days earlier than expected, but because of the weekend, it may not work out for me. Is there a reasonable chance that I'll get it by Friday or Saturday? I'm in Fort Worth, Texas.

i ordered mine on a saturday, it shipped on a wednesday, was 50 miles from me 7 PM friday evening, but wasn't delivered until the following monday.

estimated delivery date was the day after (tuesday) the entire time.

i had asked apple cus serv if fedex delivers on saturday, and they said yes, but i'm pretty sure now that they don't. if they did, it would have been able to travel that 50 miles friday night/sat morning and not sunday night/mon morning.

Thank you for the info. All of my Fedex packages are delivered from the facility that's located about 5 minutes from my office. If it's here by Saturday, I'll try to pick it up. If I get there before the truck leaves, they usually let me have my package.

Good lord. Got my new 13.3" MacBook Air two days ago. Seriously, best computer I have ever owned. Ended up maxing it out with the 4gb ram, 2.13 processor and 256 gb flash memory. Gorgeous. It absolutely screams. Best part about it though is the display resolution, such a massive improvement over my previous Air. Battery life is incredible also. I am not missing the backlit keyboard nearly as much as I thought I would, but I must say, the lack of infra red is frustrating as I present a lot. Overall, incredible machine with very few detractors.

P.s. Stereo speakers are a sweet little surprise also. I listen to music a lot straight from the Air and the sound improvement is hugely noticeable. Well done Apple!

Well, I ordered my maxed out MacBook Air 11" on the night of 01 Nov 2010 from the Apple store.

I also ordered the USB Ethernet adapter, Air Superdrive and the airline adapter. So far the only notice I got was that the airline adapter was being shipped!

I'm starting to wonder if the Macbook Air shipment will be delayed because of the recent problems with the logic board.

I'm one that had to have my 27" screen replaced on my iMac i7 in December 2009. I sure hope my Macbook Air is not one with the logic board problems; however I did get Apple care for it! ;)

Congrats. I think it's just you and me left waiting from the 20th. At least I put 4.2 on my iPad tonight to keep me busy.

Looks like you're the last of the "keynoters" Steve31... I got mine earlier today, typing this on it's non-backlit keyboard right now.
But I can console you with the information that there is one thing worse than not having received your sparkling new Macbook Air:
Having to take care of a screaming kid an entire evening while the sparkling Macbook Air you just received sits unopened on your coffee table...

How much longer is it for you?

Congrats!! Last word from my reseller was it was in Anchorage on Monday at 930pm. So I am hopeful I will have it tomorrow or Thursday. Not sure what route it takes to get to Edmonton.

You are not alone...

Just remember Steve31, There still a guy here that ordered on Oct 20th but had it signed by someone else cause it was delivered to the wrong address. He I think had the worst situation.

We're all still rooting for you. The last of the keynoters...

Speaking of which...

kindadukish, any news on your situation? If correct, you had the wrong address situation. Did it get resolved? Did you go to the Apple store instead?
