Got a brand new MBA 11" base yesterday!

It was also a great deal, as I'm in Brazil. The base MBA goes for USD 1.800 here. Got it yesterday for USD 1.400.

Couldn't be happier!

Bit the bullet on one of the 2009 models Apple has up on their site -
RFB MB AIR 13.3"/2.13GHZ/2GB/128SSD-USA

Already packed up and shipped out, should be here sometime next week. Was talking to a rep on the phone trying to get some info on if these refurbs had Tosh drives in them. He couldn't answer that question for me, but was very cool and gave me a nice little discount on the laptop to lock in the sale right there on the phone.

Thanks Apple, you rock. :apple:

update: 2009 MBA refurb arrived/did not have Toshiba SSD in it. A little bit of a bummer, but not worried about it. Lappy runs great and should fill my needs for the next year or two.

Just received a second MBA 13 + 4Gb + 128 for my wife (Refurb)

Wow,

Just received a a second MBA 13 + 4Gb + 128 for my wife (Refurb). It is in perfect condition except for some weird light and dark sections at the very bottom of the screen. Superb computer, looks absolutely new and saved $200+. I'm very happy this didn't arrive with a dead/stuck pixel or alternatively the other issues I've been hearing about (i.e. clicking fan, bent lid etc).

I'm sold on buying refurbs now.

As for the light and dark sections at the bottom of the screen, they kind of look like spotlights shining upwards and in-between them, there is dark. I'm sure this is some kind of backlighting issue, but seriously, for $1300 after tax, I'm not going to complain.

The 13 inch is definitely my sweet spot.

Cheers!

Refurb on the way

Just picked up a MBA 13", 2.13GHz/4gb/256ssd refurb for $1529 US. Looking forward to it. Coming from a 2008 MB unibody 2.4GHz/4gb/250hdd which I sold for $750. I did run PS CS5 on that machine and it ran pretty well. I hope the MBA is up to the task!

i am the proud owner..
of the base configuration, ssd packin', 11' macbook air.
simple & snappy and just....tremendous.

this is my first mac.
i'm elated.

the air is beautiful. the trackpad is so enjoyable, an epic leap from my previous lap computing. osx is intuitive and simple and every subsequent customization, every app, every benchmark, every glossy picture or killer video....just make me appreciate it all the more.

size and speed.....portability, combined with functionality and utter sexiness..
tech bliss.

Refurb for a first time Mac owner

Hello everyone...

Long time lurker here, just wanted to share that I have jumped in with both feet and purchased a refurb MBA from the Apple Store.

13" 1.86 4GB 128

Very excited about the purchase and the switch.

One question, where do the refurbs come from, as far as location. Are they checked out at a centralized refurb center or at local Apple Stores.

Mine is due to arrive tomorrow, the 8th of March. Shipped to FEDEX on 5 March. Maybe it will show up today...

Thanks, Im sure I will have more questions later!!!!!!!!!

I just ordered the base 11" model. I wanted something light and portable. I already have an iMac and I use that as my main computer. I'll use the Macbook Air on the road, at work (Mostly to edit documents, edit the occasional picture in Pixelmator etc) and in other places. Should be good enough for that kind of stuff.

Can't wait! Should arrive tomorrow. I loooooove unboxing Apple hardware, or any new hardware really.

I just got my first Mac ever and it's a refurb 13" MBA Ultimate. This thing is awesome!

According to CoconutBattery it's only 3 weeks old and the battery has only been charged once. Very pleased.

I've officially turned to the dark side. :D

I'm getting bored of my MBA world tour...
I ordered mine on Feb 10th with the only change to the 11" being 4Gb of ram. It would have been quicker to mill my own aluminium!!

Ouch...Cant believe you ordered on the 10th of Feb and it didnt ship until the 2nd of March...for a RAM upgrade.

Well, on the bright side, just know that I just recieved mine from the Fedex guy about 10 min ago...:D

Oh yeah, it has 4MB of RAM also, I ordered it on Friday...:apple:

been lurking for a while, but wanted to say that I recieved my refurbished mba ultimate last week. it's awesome.
apparently it's only 3 weeks old (according to coconut battery). seems to be in mint condition. super fast. really great!

like a lot of people, I was waiting to see what the mbp refresh would look like, and ended up going went with the air. my friends have the last gen mbp, 13. they just seem too big and heavy now.

i am curious to see what the mba refresh will look like. but really, i'm happy with this computer as is!

Bought a refurbished MBA 13" with 2GB of RAM on Sunday and got it this morning but then I realized a little too late that it'd be smarter for me to get 4GB of RAM for the future so I'm sending this one back. Now, I just ordered the refurbished 13" with 4GB of RAM. It says 3-5 business days to ship, I can't wait! I wish I could play with the MBA I have already in the meantime but oh well :(

I got mine after work yesterday. And holy moly, this thing is THIN and light! I love the form factor. Screen is not quite as colorful as the one on my iMac, but it's bright and sharp. I'm gonna see what this thing can do later after I've installed everything, so far so good!

Yesterday my refurb 11inch 1.4/4gb/64gb arrived and wow do I love this. I installed Istat and my battery only had 3 cycles so my refurb has barely been touched I love it. The laptop is so small I never want to leave it

Incredibly Impressed with 13" "Ultimate" Air

Apple really knew what they were doing when they put this thing together. So I received my 13 Ultimate today. I carry around with me everyday a 2010 15" i7 Hi-Res, with a 512 SSD drive and 8GB ram. I usually put that computer through its paces, and I tell you this MBA could keep up with it with everything I throw at it. Amazing speed, much quicker than the Apple SSD I own. One thing I was really worried about was the lack of a backlit keyboard. There are lots of threads on this....well in order to prepare myself for no backlit keyboard, which I have had since my 2008 13", I turned off the backlight and used it nightly in bed. I found as I get in a rythm I could work without an issue, however, sometimes when I got stuck, I needed to tilt the computer up to see what I was typing. Well......one thing I noticed is that the backlit keys are obviously clear print, which makes it difficult to see at night, the MBA keys are a silvery sheen, which are completely visible with minimal screen light. I have not had any problem typing in the dark with this thing. Its not backlight, but its certainly usable.

Couple of other points....I installed photoshop, works very peppy when adding filters (basic work but thats as far as I go), I installed Parallels with Windows 7 and it boots up fast and apps load very quickly. And videos play flawlessly without skipping. I will see what happens after some time and degradation of the drive but for now all seems well. Oh and by the way, I got a refurb......

Agreed. I sold a higher powered MBP 13", and was ready to deal with a slower computing experience in exchange for the small weight and size. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that my Air performs as well or better than my MBP.

My only issue is that I DO miss the backlighting on the keyboard.

Congrats!

Did it replace your 15" MBP or will you use them both?

Im using the 15 as a pseudo Imac. I think once Lion Server comes out I will turn it into a server and now that im convinced on the Air, I'll probably buy my wife an 11". I have roughly 300GB of media so having another machine is critical for me.
