When my Son came home from college and I saw my old 2nd Gen 13" MacBook Air....I couldn't resist - I picked up a 13" Ultimate model for myself and will put my 17" Pro on Craigs List !!
No iPad for me, loving the New Air ! :D

I have finally made up my mind on which MBA to get. I'm going to get the 11.6" Ultimate. I spent some time at the Apple Store today playing with both models and the 11" fits my needs. The 13" is nice, but I actually don't think that I would lose any screen real estate on the 11". I think that what you lose in vertical height, you gain in horizontal width. I can live with a little bit of extra vertical scrolling for that extra width... I didn't even look at the 13" MBP today...

Here's the latest:-

13 Feb 2011 14:28:11 Sydney Shipment In Transit.
12 Feb 2011 10:29:56 Pudong International Airport Shipment In Transit.
11 Feb 2011 20:46:21 Pudong International Airport Shipment Received At Transit Point.
11 Feb 2011 20:25:00 Shanghai Shipment In Transit.
11 Feb 2011 19:50:27 Shanghai Shipment In Transit.
11 Feb 2011 18:51:27 Shanghai Shipment Collected From Sender.

Should be shipped from Sydney tonight to Brisbane tomorrow for delivery tomorrow, and via TNT, not UPS either. MBA 13" / 1.8GHz / 128GB / 4GB RAM. I was unable to upgrade to the 2.1ghz CPU because Appl restrict this processor to the 256GB version only.

Bit late to this thread as I've had my MBA 11" 1.4Ghz, 2GB, 128SSD for 3 days now. :D

February is always a battle of willpower for me, I get massive post-xmas urge to splash out on new tech, xbox & 50" plasma last year!.
Having never seen see one in the flesh I ordered from the UK refurb store (oh how I wish I could get the America prices!) on Tuesday evening, shipped Wednesday, arrived Thursday. (Friday therefore has update rumors )

Was a bit worried about the spec as I'm replacing my 2006 Macbook 2GHz Core 2 Duo, but not only does the MBA fly but it looks & feels awesome.

Hey everyone,

New MBA 13" Ultimate owner here. Had been keeping an eye out for the MBP refresh, but in the end decided to get the 13" air because of its portability and the SSD. Also, the fact that the 13" Air > 13" Pro IMO.

Purchased it last thursday, was eyeing the Ultimate but without the upgrade to 2.13ghz but I just couldn't wait for them to deliver, so I just went to the Apple store and bought the 2.13 using my tidy student discount. Also picked up the usb ethernet adapter, an incase case, a keyboard and apple care. Total damages came out to about £1500.

Having been a Windows user since 3.1, OS X just feels so right. I'm definitely never going back.

To give you some idea here in Australia of cost, the MBA 13" 2.1GHz / 4GB RAM / 13" / 256GB SDD, alone will set you back about AU$2,300 plus AppleCare etc and in Australia you cant choose the 2.1GHZ CPU unless you get the 256GB SSD model then upgrade it. You cant choose the 2.1GHZ CPU on the 128GB model.

I picked up the "RFB MBAIR 13.3/1.86/2/256FLASH-USA" from the Refurb store over the weekend. I'm so impatient for it to ship. It's still in "Prepared for Shipment" status. This is going to be one hell of a computer upgrade for me.

It's my first Apple computer purchase since a new last-gen PowerBook G4 12" 1.5 in 2005. I am also planning a replacement this spring for the family computer - a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver (2002) dual 1Ghz. I have really gotten my money's worth out of these two. So now what do I do with the PowerMac 7100/66 the Quicksilver replaced?

Just ordered 13" w/ 1.86Ghz, 128GB SSD, and 4GB RAM. Last machine was a PC I built in the summer of 2007, so I'm due for an upgrade!

Saving $50 from retail, IMHO not such a great deal.

Yea your right but that's before taxes. I guess when you add the $79 superdrive is comes out to $1,478 plus in this case let's say 6 or 7 % sales tax is an extra $103 so it comes out to $1,580 with tax. I guess it's sorta worth is for someone not wanting to pay $1,580 they can save about $230

Well there are any number of Mac Resellers that will sell a new one for a similar price. Most resellers (Amazon, MacConnection, MacMall) don't sales tax and some don't charge shipping so again that doesn't make that price that remarkable.

Correct, I just wanted to share with fellow members. By all means I encourage everyone to shop around and always try to get the best deal. That's what I did :D

The problem is when it's not a great or fabulous deal, it looks like the seller is posting a link to his or her auction here. This one is actually more money than it can be purchased for brand new on the Internet from stores that offer free shipping and don't charge anything for shipping.

I would encourage everyone to go search on their own before purchasing via links like this poster included here. Sometimes there are deals, but this is a used MBA for more than brand new if you just do some research.

Just got my Macbook Air 11 yesterday. Wow, what a wonderful device. But damn, what do I need to get used to OSX. Never used it before and I am having difficulties with a lot of things. Keys missing, key combinations not working, uninstalling programs, just to name a few. Hope I get used to the new software soon!

The best place to start is on Apples web site, there is plenty of information available including the following sites. I'd also recommend visiting your local book store and finding a OS X book you like and using it for reference.

http://www.apple.com/support/switch101/
http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2477
http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/

This four sites have a HUGE amount of information available so take some time going through them.

The bank finally cleared my tax return, so later this evening, I will be typing this on a brand new 11" MBA.

Any one have any suggestions as to carrying cases. I currently have a backpack style bag that holds my 13" MacBook pretty nicely, (but it does show how bulky the other laptops are...) I'm just trying to find the safest way to carry the new addition to the family...)
