Hi all

Here's the daily stat update. Lots of movement in Europe since yesterday but business as usual everywhere else, apparently.

This is the number of "January" orders with no date information at all.

Here's how it stood at 5.30pm on Sunday (UK time)

US - 14 out of 66 still with no dates
Canada - 2 out of 11 still with no dates
Europe - 17 out of 31 still with no dates
Asia/Oceania - 8 out of 13 still with no dates

And at 4.30pm Monday (UK time)

US - 14 out of 66 still with no dates
Canada - 2 out of 11 still with no dates
Europe - 9 out of 31 still with no dates (including mine [sob])
Asia/Oceania - 6 out of 14 still with no dates

Keep hitting that refresh key…!

What will we do with our newly gained order refresh addiction once we all received our nMP's??

I do not have any intention of canceling my order at this time, but I will say I will never again pre-order any product from Apple. Based on the spreadsheet, and that the nMP for our office (ordered Dec 20, same config as mine) was delivered already, it is obvious there was no point in waking up an hour earlier than normal to put my order in. I will continue to patiently wait until the end of January 31, and if no shipping notice is received, I will find a way to get in contact with someone at Apple who can answer the questions I will have at that point.
Congrats to everyone who has received theirs.

Seriously?!?

Analog Guy, did you really get the prep for ship notice on Saturday??? The first Apple February order! But an order placed on 12/26???

ARGH!!!!

I have the same dilemma. February 1 is a Saturday, though, so do we wait until 3 February to phone and voice our "disappointment" or call some time on Friday afternoon when Apple still have a few hours left in which to honour their shipping promise?

Hoping it won't come to that, though… :(

Glad to see Apple is preparing some February orders for shipment. Now if only they would get to the January orders that were placed days earlier...

In all seriousness, it does seem like Apple has really been focusing on the international orders over the past week. Hopefully the pendulum swings back a bit so we get some quick movement in all the regions so that a lot of people get there orders this week. I'd hate to see a ton of ship notices sent out at 11:59pm on 1/31.

Apple made in China is far more reliable in processing orders that are made by pre-order. Like clockwork.

yep, but no movement since then. not getting any hopes up until i have a tracking # and confirmed scan by the carrier. until then i am in the same boat as everyone else.

i wonder what percentage of early (1st month or so?) orders are represented by orders on the day of the launch. perhaps we will see much faster movement on orders placed after 12/19.

cruel? maybe.

dishonest? unfortunately not.

Quibble all you want about accuracy but it certainly does not "delight customers" to fulfill orders at the last promised moment, particularly when those customers see orders placed after theirs being shipped earlier.

Did Apple meet the low bar of expectations that they set? Yes (assuming they do ship all the January orders this month)

Did Apple exceed expectations? Certainly not, particularly for those who are enthusiastic enough to create a tracking spreadsheet and actively participate in a forum discussing fulfillment.

Even if I receive a ship notice today I am not going to look back fondly at the ordering/fulfillment experience.

it's not exactly quibbling--just poking fun at someone (not you) who repeatedly said the hole thing is dishonest.

it's not the end of january yet.

many people got their nMPs earlier in the month. apple did exceed expectations for some folks, but not all. can't please all of the people all of the time.

the people on the tracking spreadsheet -- us -- represent such a small sliver of business. nevertheless, i don't expect that their GOAL is to disappoint anyone.

wish we knew their fulfillment model, just as a curiosity. i wonder if it has anything to do with configurations and assembly line optimization. the real problem is that the information we do NOT have far exceeds what we do know.

we could guess that our orders are representative of the entire population, but we may well be wrong.

i still think we're going to most january orders fulfilled by january, but i'll also wager that there will be at least ONE that is not fulfilled.

spreadsheet update: uzziel's model is preparing for shipment. now he doesn't have to worry about canceling on thursday! ;-)

just poking fun a bit.

(seriously -- happy for you.)
