Down down down
to be honest to myself: somehow this long wait makes the system even more special and exciting. Of course I am pissed: 44 days for getting a COMPUTER???? But it feels a little like a kid waiting for the presents at christmas....
If you'd got the nMP on 20th December morning it wouldn't be special. Now it is.

(Having said that, I got the confirmation for shipping via UPS on Friday :D)
Haha, it is pretty crazy to wait that long. I myself have been following this as I am still not sure whether I should get one; have yet to place an order.

Seeing availability for March in the Online Store is a put off at the moment. I might as well wait till March right? :D

But asides from Anand's review of the Mac Pro, here is another great one.

Everyone with unfilled orders in January should call Apple.

Yesterday, at noon, I checked my status and was still in processing, so I called. I entered my order number in the automated system, and while waiting for an agent hit refresh and it changed to preparing for shipment. Perhaps it was a coincidence, or perhaps they are watching for nervous nellies calling and then take the order from the queue.

When you speak to an agent don't let them keep you at ground shipping. Shipping in the USA can be upgraded to overnight by the agent without higher approval.

Still no shipping date, but I can safely say that I have never been so happy to see a $10,000 charge hit my credit card.

I got an alert text from Amex that my card was charged late last night. Still shows processing on the order status page though.

On a side note, the Delivery Status dashboard widget is not updating status properly. Is anyone else having an issue? I think Apple must have changed something in the store interface when they took it down last night and now the widget can't scrape the status properly.

CRW, looks like you must be really close now. Can't believe your order has taken so long to progress. AJClayton - any news?!

I'm having the same problem with the Delivery Status iOS app. Very luckily for me, I have a UPS tracking number I can use instead so I can manage without Apple store tracking now. Hopefully you'll have your tracking number later today or tomorrow. My nMP has just left Dallas Fort Worth...

My credit card was just charged for the exact amount from Apple........
Could it be that I will get a shipping notice today?

*Edit. I just got an e-mail saying my order has been changed to overnight shipping. No cost.

I emailed my US contact yesterday (thought I'd take a softly, softly approach with her rather than telephone). She didn't call me back. She could be off work, of course, but it concerned me a bit so before lunch today I called our local Apple Customer Services (who are based in Ireland, as I'm sure you know). I was put on hold for a while and then transferred to someone in Apple Online Store Executive Relations. He said he'd speak to the people involved with scheduling and get back to me with firm timescales. He said he'd update me before close of business today.

He's just called to say that he's been advised that there are no delays to any orders whatsoever and all orders are planned to be dispatched on time. Good news for anyone reading this, even if your order is one of the "February" ones (but especially if it's a "January" order and you're still waiting for news). He's not going to leave it at that, though, he's promised to find out a more specific schedule for my order and will call me tomorrow morning with an update. Top man! My faith in the Apple corporate machine restored.

Will keep you posted!

I see from the spreadsheet that your delivery date should be Friday, Scissors. Great news! Don't forget the obligatory photo with post-it note! :D

You do realise your credit card is going to be charged this evening and nobody will need to call you back tomorrow...

Yes, looking forward to Friday. I'll be able to see from the tracking whether it slips to next week as happened to Peabo. My obligatory photo will be accompanied by... a pair of scissors.

Credit card has just been authorized for the full amount. Called Apple earlier today and, with only a little whining on my part, they upgraded to 'next-business-day' shipping free of charge.

Man, is UPS always that slow? No wonder the take 4 days for a 1day trip when they first ship from Dallas to Louisville instead of directly to Frankfurt... Well international flights probably need smaller airports :)

louisville is a hub for UPS. you would be amazed at the volume.

next day air packages and international ones almost always go through louisville. they don't just put them on any international flight.

Sounds highly inefficient. A central hub is one of the dumbest ideas ever for distribution, imo.

you may know more than me; i've not run an operation on the scale of UPS or fedex. they have things dialed to an amazing degree considering their volumes.

your package is not a special snowflake.

ps one can get a carrier like fedex or UPS to get packages on the next available flight. they often go on a commercial carrier. you will pay insane rates. (not offered by apple, just saying the service does exist.)

It amazes me how us Apple :apple: folks are all supply chain experts, manufacturing guru's, pricing professionals, shipping masters, and communications wizards. Or so one would think reading this thread

I'm just pissed that they waste 7h to do in-US transfers. But from what I read this appears to be normal in the US for postal.

To think I'm getting angry at DHL for taking longer then 1-2 days here in Europe. But we have regional hubs, not insane central ones. I just add it to my americans are odd list :p

Hi all - here's the update on how things have gone in just over 24 hours. Gradually getting there, although still a few to go and only 3 days to do it in. Apple assure me, however, that all January orders are on schedule. We'll see...

As usual, these are just "January" orders and changes are marked in red

4.30pm Monday (UK time)

US - 14 out of 66 still with no dates
Canada - 2 out of 11 still with no dates
Europe - 9 out of 31 still with no dates (including mine [sob])
Asia/Oceania - 7 out of 14 still with no dates

6.55pm Tuesday (UK time)

US - 13 out of 67 still with no dates
Canada - 2 out of 11 still with no dates
Europe - 6 out of 31 still with no dates (including mine [sob])
Asia/Oceania - 5 out of 14 still with no dates

Sorry to see you're getting angry there.

I'm really happy to be receiving my nMP all the way from Texas in 3 days.

Actually, we have regional hubs. It looks like Europe is the one with an insane central hub:

Air Hubs:
United States: Louisville, KY (Main Global Air Hub); Philadelphia, PA; Dallas, TX; Ontario, CA; Rockford, IL; Columbia, SC
Europe: Cologne/Bonn, Germany
Asia Pacific: Shanghai; Shenzhen; Hong Kong
Latin America and Caribbean: Miami, FL, USA
Canada: Hamilton, Ontario
