So how nice it was to find that the chatter noise and whine are now barely audible. Shifting it in and out of the box has somehow sorted the sound out. I'm going to put the return on hold!

Normally, I'm really suspicious of problems that fix themselves, but in this case, I'll make an exception.

Me too. If it comes back anytime soon, I'll start the returns process again. Thanks for saving the day with this one.

Ive just been to Barking and bagged myself a shiny Pro...

It's cccold in Houston...

My QC/12/256/D300 nMP has spent another day with TNT Express in Houston. It seems the southern states are enduring a cold spell, and now I have visions of TNT personnel in Houston huddling around my little nMP going all-out on some FCPX task while warming their hands above that gentle stream of warm air arising from it....:D

No movement on any February orders so far this month - Apple seemingly taking a nap after the January rush.

Incorrect. Mine was shipped "early"(as in before February) on Friday evening. Though, Monday is the first business day of February so give them some time.

I'm using the Viewsonic VP2772 for photo processing work (27".) It is accurate, and covers 99% of AdobeRGB space. I also have an Apple Cinema Display, as a second monitor (23".)

I had pondered that one but the stand with its three could be a problem for me (the one that sticks out the back) Dont suppose you could tell me how much it sticks out? (effectively from front of screen to back of foot?

That would be really helpful :)

It's here!

New machine has just arrived. Box was covered in red "UPS Express Extremely Urgent" stickers which I feel sure Tim Cook himself placed on there before it left the factory.

Got a busy day, so this is as far as I'm likely to get until later this afternoon. Going to resist the urge to open the box until then. I'm weird, I know, you don't have to tell me. ;)

Hooray! Now you can update your signature again! Enjoy your morning of work and afternoon of work/play.

So we now know that Razer made off with someone else's package...

With the screen vertical, the rear foot sticks back roughly 10.5"

The monitor is a little heavy, so it needs support. I don't know how the ViewSonic stacks up, in terms of the base, when compared to the other monitors that use the same panel, though. (there is a Dell, and an Asus monitor that use the same panel that I know of)

Good point. Now done. Have (sort of) followed your example on that one.

Have had to move the box out of line of sight as it keeps beckoning me to open it.

If opened in the morning instead of afternoon, doesn't that mathematically become an equal time spent? I mean you have to open it sooner or later, and the work has to be done, so isn't the only real variable the time at which there is gratification? So why do this afternoon what can be done in the morning, as confucious would said, and you know that guy is never wrong...

You're both right. Got some work a client needs this afternoon so *hoping* it won't take me too long and then I can! I know that if I open the box now I won't get another shred of work done for the rest of the day.

Did you see the box move just then? It was taunting me! I'm sure I put it closer to the back of the room…

Hopefully you'll open it before your dogs get a go at it...they'll chew that nice box to shreds!
:D

Glad you got it!

The dogs showed a great deal of interest in the box, subdiv. Imagine the smells on there, it's been on holiday across 2 continents.

My wife said something very similar, razer. "How do you know there's anything in there?" she said. That's quite technical for her. :D

Well, here I am posting from the new Mac. I didn't open the box until about 5pm so it was sat there for a good 7 and a half hours. How's that for restraint?

Fired it up quickly to make sure it worked then powered it down again and installed my 32GB I got from Crucial.

It's so quiet. The only sounds I can hear now is my NAS on the other side of the room. I kind of get what Scissors was saying. If I put my ear right up close to the fan there is a kind of quiet "rattle". I wonder if it's got to shift a bit of dust before it goes completely silent? If I decide I can hear it, I'll put it back in the box for a bit. ;)

I hope everyone who's still waiting gets theirs soon. Even though I've only had it switched on for about an hour, I can confirm that it's well worth the wait (well, what did you expect me to say?). Right, better start installing some software...

Mine made it to TNT Express hub at Arnhem today, still listed for delivery in 3 days... a two-hour drive? Tomorrow will be more likely. Changed my sig in anticipation (will install that Crucial 32GB kit as well).

Awesome, glad it was worth the blood, sweat and tears :apple:
