Preparing for shipment. I think I might fall over.

Awesome! So happy for you!

I actually just spoke with customer service to see if they had an estimated WEEK for me now that we're in the month of my expected delivery. He said "they're moving really fast now" for whatever it's worth. So he expected mine within the next week (I ordered on the first of January when new funds became available for equipment). We'll see if that's actually true, but maybe they're finally catching up with demand?

I ordered (3) nMPs on Jan 24th. Two Quads with 16GB, 1TB Flash and D300s. Those are showing March shipping. Also ordered a 6 Core, 32GB, 1TB Flash, D500s and received it Feb 3rd.

I finished installing software and manually transferring necessary files from my 1,1 MP (don't like migration assistant). yesterday.

This thing is a beast. I posted the following in the "PS speed test thread" but thought I'd paste it in this post also.

nMP is being used for in-house prepress flexographic print.

I have my old 1,1 sit up and running right next to the nMP to manually transfer files. (I don't like migration assistant) So I've had the luxury to compare numerous tasks that are performed throughout the day.

One particular customer's files are large (10 to 40mb) Illustrator vector art files. I've opened a couple of their most recent larger files with the nMP and compared the frustration factor with my 1,1 machine which is sitting right next to me. Night and day difference in speed/performance.

There's a folder that comes with Ill. CS6 within the application folder titles "Cool Extras" > en_US > Sample Files > Sample Art > Modern-Day Venus.ai That files is a 39.3mb vector file and is similar to the art files I have to manipulate/fix.

I remember feeling this way 7 years ago when I bought these 1,1 MPs. It's a great feeling. Almost better than new car smell.

sorry to bust the bubble, but i think if you've been following this thread you see that the info the customer service reps have has no connection to reality in the factory. i wouldn't count on any answer.

yours could ship tomorrow....or on 2/28.

(don't mean to be rude but, rather, realistic. false optimism has deflated many posters in this thread.)

Ha. Fair enough. I just need to put the thing to work. Time is money right now, and I hope Apple is thinking about that reality for its customers.

my guess is that the actual people assembling the machines are thinking very little about your (or anyone else's) needs for the machines.

sure, apple wants to get them out quickly, but people working on an assembly line aren't typically the most skilled or engaged employees.

I got the third of my three delivered today. Nice to be all green on the spreadsheet not.

well good for you... what do you want a cookie?!?

Kidding of course! Enjoy! Hopefully I'll get mine before the end of "real work season" in June.

I hear you. I'm pretty much doing the exact same thing. I have my nMP sat right next to my Mac Pro 1,1 and, like you, am gradually moving things across (as it's a good opportunity to clear out 7 years worth of junk).

Like you, I'd found all sorts of frustrations with the old Mac Pro. Even scrolling a photo in Photoshop was painful on the old machine - the new one hardly notices I'm doing anything. :)

Don't get me wrong, I loved my Mac Pro 1,1 and it's served me very well - been the best, most stable, stunning piece of hardware I've ever owned. I hope my new machine can be just as faithful.

Right there with you! ;)

More than three days after mine went to "shipped", and just as I was wondering whether it would ever actually appear, the blank status changed to "Delivery scheduled by final carrier". I'm guessing that means it's now reached the merge location in the UK and had the AppleCare added.

Still no carrier name or tracking number shown and UPS don't recognise the shipment number, but I'm hoping that will change in the next few hours. It's estimated delivery on Monday, so they'd presumably need to ship it by some time Friday at the latest to make that happen. If I find out it's sitting waiting at a carrier depot over the weekend, I might have to make a stealth raid... :D

I got almost the same configuration apart from the memory and the same order time, but unfortunately still no change in status for me. Glad to see some progress again though.

This wait feels more like a lottery than a first come, first served process. Keeping my fingers crossed, I'll see some status change within the next days.

I happened to be in the mall yesterday and decided to hit the Apple Store that I'm having my nMP shipped to. I hadn't seen one in person yet, and felt that I needed to... of course the store was packed, they had one Mac Pro out and some high schooler was working with a Genius to order her new iPhone from it.

I waited.. got frustrated and left without using it. I got to see it from about 10 feet away I guess, and maybe it's best I really kick the tires when mine shows up.... someday.

sorry.. had to vent and share with the class.

Shipped!

Got the email from Apple, nMP has shipped, arrive on Monday via FedEx!

Had previously got the free Next Day shipping upgrade by calling.

In the Dark - nMP

I ordered my nMP on 12/19/13 @ 8:29 PST. My ship date is 03/06/14. My order is a 8c 32GB 1TB D700. Like many here I have watched much later orders get shipped over mine. I have not entered my order in the spreadsheet yet. From what I see here, I have the latest delivery date of any 12/19/13 order. I have call Apple and spoke to a nice but clueless customer service rep. Got nowhere in terms of resolution of why the delay or what could be done to improve on it. I will wait another week and then escalate.

What spreadsheet?

What "spreadsheet" are you referring to?

See, said AJClayton and Scissors would disappear now they have their nMPs. Splitters.:D

I don't blame them... we'll all do the same once that shinny tube of awesomeness is on our desks. this thread has been very therapeutic during the waiting process.

Don't worry razer. I'm still here watching from afar. It's difficult to know what to post because now I've got my machine I don't want to come on here and sound like I'm banging on about it
- I remember what the waiting was like. I'm still having nightmares about it ;-)
