The Eagle has landed
I picked up my 8c/32g/1TB/D700 last evening from my local apple store, It was delivered, as promised earlier this month to an improved availability date from my original March 06 availability date I received when I placed my order on 8:29 AM PSt on 12/19/13.
I will unbox and set it up after I post this message. Thanks Scissors for creating the spreadsheet, it helped to pass the time. As one of the last spreadsheet 12/19 entries to receive their order, I hope all those who are currently patiently awaiting their nMP will have a much shorter wait than I did.
A parting thought
I am composing this on a 1,1 oMP, I bought in 2006. Much is being made of the nMP and its pros and cons relative to expandability and ability to be upgraded. I believe that Apple now knows they have created a paradigm shift and a new higher threshold on the price we are all willing to pay for a technology platform that has a life span of a decade. After all my current Mac Pro has lasted 8 years and is still humming along.
There will be upgrades to the CPU (perhaps even a dual configuration), GPU's and the SSD. Apple will not repeat the mistake of crippling this Mac Pro. If Apple does not follow this path, "3rd parties" will do it for them.
Some people restore cars as a hobby, I will upgrade my 1,1 oMP. I already have the matched pair CPU's to take it to 2,1 and I will follow the threads here and elsewhere to see where the road leads beyond that.
Ultimately I may be proven wrong in my prediction of the nMP's future but I don't think that will happen
see you all in 10 years!
