Today is my 3 week anniversary from ordering (Feb 6th) and my order status is "Processing Items" with available to ship still set to "March". I wish I could get some clarification on WHEN in March.

*SIGH*

Lets just say I ordered Jan 3rd and mine shipped Feb 25th and will be at my door March 10th so you should expect it to ship late in March depending on you config. And just be really happy if it ships early/min march.

Mine has been 'shipping to store' since Monday night. Does anyone know how fast/slow that typically goes? I'm in California.

Oh boy - turns out no one at Apple (customer service, business team, store team) can tell me when it'll hit the store. I just can't believe it. But despite the fact that I started and manage the relationship between my 1,400 person company and Apple Business (we have well north of 750 Mac's), they refuse to tell me. Disappointing.

Apple seems to have bit off more than they can chew here.

So far from what I read on here at least 70 reported units were shipped with (presumably) bad SSDs, there are bottlenecks on specific parts that cause orders from earlier being shipped out after later orders.
All this in addition to hearing that some of these mac pros are not even assembled in USA as previously advertised.

Am I missing anything?

Addendum:
Should mention, I'm Dec 28, 8core 32gb d700 512gb build. Still processing. I know an identical build with 1TB SSD placed on 30th went out few days ago, leading me to believe the bottleneck were affected 512gb harddrives. Oh, and this just adds fuel to the fire.

Oh, oh, and there was a word from Apple that they're making sure more units aren't affected, so I'd say they're probably replacing all 512gb harddrives on open orders. This wouldn't happen if the RMA margin wasn't wide enough. But it's the right thing to do. Rather have it later and working than earlier and need to RMA.

Just got a call from apple...

I've been one of the "lurkers" watching this thread and the spreadsheet, but I finally decided to register and post. I just got a call from apple a few minutes ago, saying my January 6th order that was scheduled to be a "February" shipment, will not ship in February. They told me it should ship in approximately 5-7 business days.

They did offer me $100 off as a concession.... Which isn't bad I guess, although bleeding edge technology depreciates pretty fast. I'm not sure if that $100 is enough to keep up with the depreciation on a computer I've ordered and haven't seen for two months lol.

I've spoken to reps three times about my order; I suggest everyone else do the same if they haven't already to get the "bonuses" that come with waiting. (remember to be nice to your rep! :)

-The first time I called was a month after my order. I was able to get upgraded to free next-day shipping
-The second time was the beginning of this week. I was able to get a free magic trackpad (but I've seen other users get free magic mice too)
-The third time they called me to notify about the delayed shipment, and offer me $100.

I've posted in the UK specific thread but I'll repost here:

Ordered 15th January (Apple Store UK online)
Shipped 21st February
Arrived 26th February

6C/512/12GB/D500

Temp card charged a couple of weeks ago
Actual card charged 24th February

Ordered through Apple Store Employee Purchase Program (discount scheme for companies - I don't work for Apple) if that makes any difference.

Just received "the call" from Apple

Unlike rywen, I only received free expedited shipping which is now expected to be 5-7 additional days.

Original order placed January 16, for 6C/1T/5D/16 mb

The wait continues. Note that when I returned their call I went through the voice-based system which essentially repeated the existing order page info: February ship date. Had to ask for a live agent to get the updated details.

Compared to the original group of December purchasers, another week seems good by comparison.

Just got off the phone with Apple.
My order has been pushed out 5-7 days into March.
I'm DECEMBER 28th order, so by far not only January orders are affected.
They threw in a free trackpad, not that I care.

I got the same call today. After much discussion about my disappointment in apple communication I received 150 off.

Apple executive team will be calling me tomorrow with an update.

Interesting phone call from Apple. They told me there is a delay in shipping my Mac Pro. I ordered on the 20th December and was in the Feburary dispatch time. Apple Said that there is a delay on it for between 5-7 working days. Apple is not keeping the promised dispatch time of some time in Feburary. This is not on. 4 core d500s 12GB 256GB SSD. Also they told me that my order is coming from shanghai.

Got mine the first week of feb. Ordered 12/20/13 for a quad core 1TB 64GB. Got overnight FedEx shipping and they said it was coming from China and I got angry...... turns out their knowledge base is incorrect because she came back a few minutes later saying it was in fact from Austin, TX. They are all made in Texas, there KB is just incorrect for applecare employees.

----------

They are all assembled in Texas. There KB lists it wrong internally. I spoke with an applecare manager who confirmed this...that was back in jan.

They probably sold it, LOL. I would call the 1800 business line and ask.

Man, it is frustrating to see so many people who ordered in January get their units when I ordered December 29th and I'm still stuck in Processing -- with no communication from Apple.

I called yesterday and asked for an upgrade to next day, which they did.

I am sincerely annoyed because it is *in stock* at newegg. I should just cancel my order with Apple, but they already charged me.

I referred you as a friend and called Apple. I got 100$ off as well. Thanks. I will try to get a free trackpad.

Interesting. I wonder if that's due to the size of your order....or if the CSR's have the latitude to vary the discount depending on the situation. Come to think of it, when they offered up $100, the rep said something along the lines of "is that ok?" Apparently I should have said "no!" :)

End of February Wave

It seems there is a new phenomenon developing in this whole nMP failure to ship fiasco. That is, a wave of phone calls (of which I am one today) telling us that February's deadline will not be met and that my order will be shipped in 5-7 days.

When I got the phone call I played the good, compliant Joe and simply said thank you for keeping me up to date. I did not ask for any compensation or freebies---certainly would not have refused any but none were offered. I was just glad that a Company the size of Apple had the courtesy to actually do this (they have been the only one in my 66 years of dealing with corporate America). I figured that, as someone else has posted, it's better to get a quality product than to ship on time and get sh** (BTW, a lot of the time I've had to wait with Companies and still have gotten sh**, but that's another story). I give Apple credit for this. After all, my life does not revolve around the computer---there are more important things, like life, health, relationships, love, caring, death, etc. You get the point.

Anyway, to add to this forum's tracking of expedious-ity (to coin a word), here are my time frames: ordered a nMP on January 12, 2014

3.5GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC - 4X4GB
512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Dual AMD FirePro D300-2GB VRAM

On Feb. 24th received a pending charge to my CC re AppleCare (of all things); on Feb. 26th received a pending charge to my CC re my nMP order itself; on Feb 27th received a phone call from Apple in Texas (where it was 70°) telling me my order would ship in 5-7 days.

Hang in there, guys, it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, OR something like that. I had to fit Love in there somewhere.

I am not sure that they will be able to deliver Mac Pro for people in March as they push back people in February and spend time on March building Mac Pro for people in February.

Only Two Months

Ordered 12/26/13; delivered 2/27/14. Downloading updates now. Thanks for the great therapy the spreadsheet has been Scissors!

I just receive a estimate delivery date - 3/3/2014 - order 20/12/2013

Thank you to all, this was a fun ride, I will keep in touch.

Apple didn't compensate me with anything. They said that will talk about that after I receive the New Mac Pro.

The spreadsheet helped a lot in this two months of waiting :)

I thought the same, however, I don't think the number of orders for March is as many as ones for February.

Got the 'delay' call...

Yep, as I was standing in the Apple store Purchasing thunderbolt cables for my soon to be delivered Mac Pro… I got the call.

Oh well... 5-7 days.

The day has come. Sorry to hear of all the February people who have been let down. I guess the compensation is better than nothing but it must be frustrating.

It's worth the wait

I ordered mine on 19th december 2013 (from NZ), was promised February, and I got it in February.
I can confirm what happens when it gets close.... first the bank puts a hold on your card, that means they've started building yours. About 5 days later the hold falls off, and the Apple Store still says "Processing Items". Don't worry, they're building it. About 7 days after they started, suddenly it will ship (from your local store if you're not in USA)
The Mac Pro itself is magnificent. Worth the wait :)

some more thoughts...

I've watched this thread, but luckily I've been too busy to join in (luckily for my stress levels!)

My honest guess is that all the orders for a particular month go into a queue, in the order they were received. They then go into batches, based first on country, and model type ( all 4*4*3*3=144 combinations ). These will be produced in different production chains. Sometimes chains will break down. Some machines will get rejected somewhere on the chain.

Somewhere early in the chain (when the hold gets put on your card), your name gets attached to that machine. If something goes wrong with that build, you get knocked back to start again.

So the machines get output roughly in the order when they were ordered, but some meet a sorry fate on the way.

That's my theory anyway.

I guess the way to test that would be a regression plot of time ordered against time received. What I'm suggesting is that it would be mostly a rising straight line, with occasional outliers.
