And one last batch of thoughts:

Here’s the pattern so far (ignoring December, that was the initial rush).

mid-January, February batch gets closed off, new orders are now assigned to the March group

mid-February, March gets closed off, new orders are now assigned to the April group

and all that means that in two weeks time, in mid-March, April will be closed off, and new builds will slip to May.

Maybe that’s the way it will stay for a while (or forever), due to the complexity of organising the 144 different models for however many countries.

The upshot of that, is that if you order on say 12th Feb, while March is still open, the most you will wait is about 7 weeks. But if you order on say the 16th Feb, after March has closed and we’re up to the April batch, then you might wait up to 11 weeks.

The fact that Apple has not got through all the February batch as promised, is interesting. AFAIK they made it with the January batch. Maybe demand is growing. Maybe their factory broke down.

What i'm trying to work is is why I have been given an estimated delivery day 12 days from now? I am on day 62 of waiting for this thing. That will be Roughly 10 weeks if it's delivered on the 11th of March.

I feel I may take the unopened Mac straight to the Apple store and demand my money back on a point of principle. £5500 and that got me standard shipping which seems to be massively delayed.

Not a happy chap.

I knew it was going too smoothly. UPS status just changed to 'Receiver has moved address. Please contact UPS with correct address so redelivery can be arranged'.

Needless to say I haven't moved house, I have been sat by my door all morning and nobody has knocked. Now waiting for a call back from the depot to probably be told I can't collect it and have to wait until Monday. What a joke.

UPDATE (12:42):
Several phone calls to UPS and Apple later. UPS now saying that the driver went to the wrong flat number (got one number incorrect) so they're in contact with the driver to come back and try again....apparently they'll call me once this has been confirmed (doubtful!)

Meanwhile, my UK Apple rep has called to say they'll be in touch in a few hours once they know what is going on. Overall, still not feeling particularly confident I'll see it today.

UPDATE (14:27):
UPS just called to say the driver is coming back today, and now has my phone number. Maybe there is still hope.....

Oh dear, good luck.... this all sounds like my experience! Fingers crossed

some more thoughts...

….
I guess the way to test that would be a regression plot of time ordered against time received. What I'm suggesting is that it would be mostly a rising straight line, with occasional outliers.

I like this idea, and suggest using the shipment date instead of delivery date. Variations in the length of the shipment phase are uncorrelated to anything interesting in the supply chain and manufacturing. It only adds noise to the signal.

delay

Well I am still showing a February "Available to Ship" and called Apple. Like a number of us I received the news that there was going to be a 5-7 day delay. I did mention that I had a few friends in the same boat who were offered $100-150 off of the order. She stated that she wasn't sure why that was offered, but that she wasn't able to do it. Perhaps my customized 4-core isn't premium enough.

Bummer. More waiting and refreshing of this thread.

Thanks all.

4 core - 12 gig - D500s - 512 ssd

I hope for all the February orders that got screwed apple does something more then just a free mouse/KB...bump the ram up or give at $200 off. It's pretty unacceptable.
Hope it works out for you guys!

So, after three attempts, many calls to UPS and Apple and an argument in person with a lazy UPS man - it's here!

Yes absolutely, my slip-up, using the shipment date. I do wonder if everybody got the PST calculations right too for the order time. A bit of cross-checking against the comments could help there in some cases.

And it would have to be country by country, and then maybe merged as well at the end.

Delayed shipping to the store...got me $150 off

My system shipped to the store on Tuesday and won't make it on time for February availability. I got a very courteous call and without asking got a $150 discount on the system. And, best of all, a guarantee it'll be there Monday the 3rd of March. Nice, Apple :apple: !

Long time Lurker. Just wanted to say "thanks to all" particular Scissors for the spreadsheet. This thread has become like a support group :p Last night just before bed, my poor little 2007 17 inch MBP (I know I know) gave me a scare and just shut down and refused to boot back up. Like so many on this thread, I've been waiting on nMP to complete some projects.

So while I slumbered (barely slept with the thought of having NO computer AT ALL) I dreamed of three things; 1) that suddenly my MBP would come to back to life; 2) that magic UPS elves delivered my nMP; and 3) that magic UPS elves delivered my nMP while riding atop Unicorns. :p

I think wanting the nMP did me in. At this point unicorns are more plausible than getting a nMP. However, I am typing this on my oMBP. No magic UPS elves sightings. :(

No delayed email, but delayed nonetheless

Ordered my nMP early in the morning on 12/19 and am still waiting for it to ship. I didn't receive the email yesterday saying my order would be delayed, so I had high hopes it would ship today and be here tomorrow.

No joy.

Just spoke to an Apple Executive Relations rep, who said I'm also in the delayed 5 to 7 business days group. However, she did mention that Apple will be doing "something" (didn't say what), for customers that have had long delays and missed deadlines. They've already given me free one-day shipping, but Apple will need to do better this time around if they want to make up for this--a magic mouse or trackpad isn't going to cut it if they want to compensate me for the lost time and productivity this has already cost me.

Assuming a worse case scenario for delivery (which seems appropriate at this point), my computer should be here no later than 3/12; nearly a 1/4 year after it was ordered. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the 5 to 7 day promise is missed, too.

I am not a happy camper. :(

My baby has been on the truck for delivery since 8 am. These last few hours are interminable.

Absolutely shocking folks from 12/19 still dont have their units. Hang in there guys.

So i Sold my 2010 2.66 12 core with 16gb ram 1tb hard drive and gtx 670 2gb for 2700 last week and ordered the 6 core "April delivery:eek:" 12gb ram which i will upgrade to 32gb or 64 when i feel it's necessary. I also got it with the dual d700 because i have two 27 cinema displays and another 1080p television and plan on getting the new 4k monitor from apple. im defintly now going to have to buy the ikea galant extension to fit 3 monitors on my desk.

so ended up paying 1400 out of pocket for this upgrade. with all this downtime im going have to shake off all the rust on my final cut pro skills because iv'e been doing premier work for the last 2 years. So for now im gonna have to learn patience and not worry about proccesing and all that stuff. Id predict myself getting it two weeks into april.

A little motivation for anybody who is still waiting:

After hours of installing all my stuff, I opened up my biggest Logic file that I could find. This is something that caused many System Overloads on both my 2006 Mac Pro and 2011 MBP.

I've just hit play on the nMP (6-core) and it runs like clockwork. Hasn't missed a beat and runs 60 tracks as though it were 2 tracks. Incredible.

Hang in there, it's worth the wait (and in my case, shouting at an incompetent lying UPS man).

Sorry to read about the extended delays. I'd hoped that things would be slowly improving by now. My 46 day wait for my nMP to arrive seems quite short now!

We'll probably never find out what's going on. I hope it means that Apple have got lots and lots of orders as that can only be a good omen for the future of the pro Apple lines. Not so good if you're waiting for one to arrive, though.

All I can say to those waiting is that it's seriously worth it. The machine is AWESOME!

I just got the 5-7 day delay phone call for my 6C/D300/1TB I ordered on Jan. 6.

I asked if any compensation was available and he said " I can not offer any".

He was courteous and apologetic as Apple folks always are.

I am surprised my Apple's poor planning and hope they offer some price adjustments later. I surmise this rep clearly did not have the authority to do so.

Apple "promised" a Feb. ship and did not deliver.

i too join the the club of the wretched texas call, they just left a message stating 5-7 business days :confused::mad::(, unfortunately the next two days are not business days so that really doesn't help, well heres to hoping its not on the 7th day at least, and a bit interested in what apple is planning to do for the customers with the long wait times and redirected deliver dates as stated few posts up, maybe a free 4k display? or ram upgrade or something out of this world ... or most likely nothing :(

That answer surprises me. My Apple rep (I manage a business relationship but the nMP is a private purchase) told me they're allowed to offer up to $150. The consumer rep who called me apologized first, asked me what I was planning on doing with my 'beast' (his words), and then offered me the $150 without me even asking.

Not nothing. No 4K display though because it doesn't exist. But $150 has now been given away enough times for you to remind the rep that Apple actually has allowed their reps to offer it by policy.

For what it's worth, I called the Texas number and was told the same 5-7 days. The CSR had no not heard about compensatory discounts or magic mice thrown in, but suggested that I call the main 1-800-my-apple number. I did, and was instantly offered a $100 discount "based on my configuration."

I could keep harping on this botched launch, but I'm content now to just wait a little longer. The $100 doesn't hurt and will go toward the RAM upgrade.

I feel for those who ordered in December and are still waiting though, especially those few who ordered on the 19th. How could a difference in hours of ordering (the morning of the 19th vs the afternoon of the 19th) result in a 4-6 week extra delay for some?

Ordered Jan 18th and called CS. They said someone tried to reach out to me to tell me it will ship in 5-7 days. I asked about upgrading my shipping to overnight and he said that was already done. I smell fish. My card was authorized on monday.

I ordered a 12-core/D700 on 1/1; it's been reading "February" all along. On 2/27 I got a voicemail from Apple asking for me to call about my order. I called today and they said it would be delayed by a week or so.

I told them that I was disappointed but that I'd prefer that they get the machine right rather than rush it.

I'd already called and gotten free next-day shipping. This time they comped a $99 accessory (the DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapter).

$99 is pretty cheap for hush money; I should have gotten them to comp AppleCare. ;)
