Hang in there!
I ordered the same machine and received it last Friday. I've connected all of my 16 devices, some way to old to mention, many hard drives, new stuff including the Intuos Pro and it's all working. I went from 10.7.5 on my 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 to 10.9.2 without loosing ANY hardware or software. It all works and is working well. I have 30,000 emails which took a minimum of 15 secs to start mail now down to under 2 seconds. A couple of ideas:
1. Sign up for Ups my choice (free) and if your machine ships UPS select change delivery option once you have a tracking number. Select "pick up at UPS". You'll be able to pick it up early am at UPS on the day you'd be spending waiting for the truck.
2. I have a bunch of drives that are still good and big. I tried a bunch of things and found for low use but available drives OWC Touro USB 3 enclosures at about $2 are fast and great. No fan so can't be used for any intense use but for photo storage or time machine or iTunes or whatever that won't need to be spinned up constantly they are great. Sleep and wake up perfectly.
3. I have more hardware on order to get this mess organized!
Enjoy!

I've tried to remain philosophical in the waiting game for the nMP. After all, it's been several years since a re-fresh of the model to something "totally different." I'm happy about that & have not really become too emotional in a few months waiting (wry humor).
Anyway, I'm posting to let let others know my benchmarks.
Today (this afternoon, in fact) I finally got something definite from Apple regarding getting the product I ordered. As with other recent posts my nMp is Ready to Ship 5-7 Business days. Delivers: March 10-12. Initially it stated that it was being shipped via expedited shipping, but now it does not state that.
I ordered January 12, 2014:
3.5GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC - 4X4GB
512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Dual AMD FirePro D300-2GB VRAM
On Feb. 24th received a pending charge to my CC re AppleCare; on Feb. 26th received a pending charge to my CC re my nMP order itself; on Feb 27th received a phone call from Apple in Texas telling me my order would ship in 5-7 days.
The only thing that bothers me regarding this waiting game is the silence of Apple. If only they would have stated that they were having shipping/production problems due to demand/unexpected glitches, it would have made it more bearable.
Otherwise, it could be a helluva lot worse! It could be a Wintel---that's how far back I go with Apple.
