@popechild...I too ordered from B&H on Jan. 16. They initially told me it would ship first week in Feb. That was changed to March 5 which was changed again to today. Receiving no tracking number today I called B&H about an hour ago and they could not tell me whether the nMP would actually ship today or not. They are in the process of contacting Apple to see what's going on. It doesn't look promising though. After stating my frustration with Avi the customer service manager at B&H, he basically told me too bad, there's nothing they can do to represent the customer any better and that if I didn't want to wait any further I could cancel my order and order from someone else...Nice! It's clear to me that B&H is simply not a priority to Apple. I want to cancel my order with B&H just on principle at this point and I will be looking around to see if by miracle there is another site I can order the nMP with the specs. I want and get it here right away. Not likely, but if I find anything I will post it here. FYI: I did call Apple and although they cannot pull up my order I did manage to speak with someone that created an Apple case number for me. He is working on my behalf to find out directly from Apple what the hold up is. In the meantime, he did, although only verbal, promise me 'free stuff' when the nMP is finally shipped.

Wow let me know what comes out of this "free stuff" request...

It's hard to blame B&H when it's clearly an apple problem, but they should treat you better as a customer with a $5k+ order from them overdue by more than a month.

I'm getting pissed at B&H at this point. After initially seeing a February estimated delivery date on their site when I ordered on 1/20, it's just about April now and they are saying they haven't gotten any info from Apple as to the estimated timeframe. Looking at the not yet shipped orders on the spreadsheet, there's a noticeable trend of B&H orders not being filled.

Sorry about your frustrating experience.

FWIW, I ordered a BTO order from Apple direct on 1/23, and still no joy. My CC was authorized on 3/10, but it dropped off, and I'm still "processing" Wondering if March is still in the cards....

Yeah, especially given that b&h charged us when the order was placed instead of when it shipped.

B&H just contacted me to tell me that my nMP will be delayed again until April 25!!! I ordered on Jan. 16. They claim this is because the nMP is in high demand. I call total BS. What was point in waiting so long if I could have ordered today and still received by April 25 more than likely. So Pissed right now.

APRIL 25?!?!?!?! That seems like an absurdly long delay considering NEW orders are still slated to ship by april. WTF is going on?

I would just order again using Apple's website. Then just return/cancel the order that doesn't come first.

Thats a lot of credit or cash tied up don't you say? i would be pissed!

Actually, the kicker is that I've already paid off the b&h order. The money can be refunded of course but I've been waiting on this computer that is already paid in full.

For those of you that ordered from B&H that were told your nMP might ship yesterday (March 25), did it ship or were your orders postponed as well. If shipped, when will it arrive and if delayed, when did they tell you it might ship next? Did they give a reason for another delay if so?

From the spreadsheet, it looks like someone who ordered from B&H on 1/9 received their nMP a couple weeks ago. I ordered from Adorama on 1/9 and haven't heard anything. They claim they actually placed my order with Apple on 1/13, which is reasonable.

At this point, if the wait is much longer I might just end up canceling my order and buying a 6 core stock model (which quite a few places have in-stock). I really would like to have a 512GB SSD, but 3 months is about as long as I'm willing to wait for it. I purchased a Pegasus R4 to go with this system, so I can always offload more content onto there. And I could potentially upgrade the SSD later on if OWC comes out with a compatible model.

Good news, my 1/23 order (6c,1TB,16GB,700s) just flipped to "preparing to ship" and should be heading to my local Apple store for pickup soon. Hope it gets there by Saturday, it would be nice to get it set up over the weekend. And it should just make it in March, as I'm thinking Monday should be worst case.

I ordered from B&H on January 17- 8-core/16Gb/1Tb/D700s. At the time they were advertising February for shipping. They charged my card instantly for the full amount and shipped my Thunderbolt monitor, keyboard and mouse which have been sitting in useless anticipation. In late February I, too, got the notice of a shipping delay until March 25th. On the 25th I called to get my tracking information. I was told that there may be additional delay do to popularity of the product. After reviewing the latest posts on this thread last night I sent B&H a long email begging them to advocate for their customers and put some pressure on Apple on our behalf. I gave them the link to this amazing thread and to the spreadsheet. This morning I got the basically canned response that shipment is now delayed until April 25 due to backlog at the manufacturer. No reply at all to the points I brought up in my email. Time to call again...

Talked to Ken at B&H. While he is sorry and "understands" my frustration all he can do is offer a refund. He maintains that everything is Apple's fault and that B&H is "on top of it." I urged him to look though this thread and the spreadsheet to understand what is going on. He said that I would probably get nowhere by calling Apple directly since B&H is their customer, not me. No promise that April 25th will be the actual ship date.

I also asked him if he could give me a valid reason as to the delay. Is it a supply or manufacturing problem with any of the components in my specific build. Any valid reason to make me feel better than just "it's a popular product." No joy...

Wow. That's incredibly ******. I was suspicious of B&H's "build to order" configurations, but yeah. Suspicions confirmed

My feeling is that those of us who ordered from B&H need to work together to get the problem elevated to a higher level of urgency there. Because we've seen people who have ordered after us receive their models before ours and because many of us have pre-paid for our orders, we should be getting some actual attention from their customer service reps. Everyone I've talked to has been very nice and polite but completely clueless (most of them didn't even know that this was a new product or anything about the shortage, much less about anyone else who ordered one from their store). Is there something we can do collectively to send a message to higher management and get them on this?

I don't think that B&H (just like Adorama) has much control of when they get stuff,,,

We place orders with our supplier and pursue them as agressivbely as we can to fill them as quickly as possible. When we do not have reliable ETA information we'd rather say honestly that we don't know rather than invent an answer which would sound pleasing but ultimately disappoint.

We are, at all times, as eager to fulfill a transaction as our customer is to receive the ordered merchandise.

----------

I'd really love to cancel my B&H order at this point, even if it meant the possibility of waiting a little longer, just because I'm tired of them not advocating on behalf of their customers with Apple. We don't have the option of contacting Apple directly because we don't know what our order numbers are with Apple. I understand that B&H doesn't control when Apple ships, but they could be more proactive about looking into why Apple seems to be putting their customers' orders at the bottom of the list.

I am sorry you have the misapprehension we are not pursuing our Apple orders as aggressively as we can. We are committed to getting every product ordered from Apple as soon as we can get them from Apple and then shipping them to our customers as quickly as it is possible to do so.

----------

It's hard to blame B&H when it's clearly an apple problem...
Thank you.

The front-line customer service agents do not know why Apple's deliveries are delayed. I'm several steps up the proverbial ladder from them and I do not know either. I could speculate, but what'd be the point? Apple is the dog and their retail network is the tail and they know it. It's especially an issue when we;re in effect competing with them at the retail level. If they can sell a product directly, their incentive to fulfill orders from retailers like us is diminished. We call them often and are, as i said earlier, as aggressive as we can be. There's a fine line though between that level of aggression, assertiveness really, and an amount sufficient to alienate them. That would not benefit you or us.

Thanks for the direct reply, Henry! It's nice to hear from someone directly that you guys are indeed attacking the problem as best you can. I'm sure you understand the frustration on our end isn't anything personal against you guys... most people are just looking for SOMEONE to blame for their frustration!

Cheers.
