The "I just ordered / bought / got my new/refurb MBP" thread [Merged]

I bought the base 13" MacBook Pro at the Apple Store in the Oaks Mall last Friday. It's a replacement for my late 2007 MacBook, which was stolen by burglars last month. (Fortunately, I got all my data back from my last Time Machine backup.) It's a really terrific little machine -- I love it!

I ordered mine on Tuesday 13th (evening), it was Prepared for shipment on Thursday 15th and Shipped on Friday 16th.
Since then, it has been stuck in Shanghai:



UPS said today everything is back to normal but it might take a little time for the backlog.
Hopefully it will leave at some point in the next hours...

I'll keep you posted!

I went to the apple store as soon as I saw it, the guy told me apple requires 5 stuck/dead pixels for repair.

Is it stuck or dead? Stuck pixels, which have the potential of becoming unstuck, are stuck on one color where as dead pixels are black. I don't think you can actually fix a dead pixel.

Mine turned up at 11am just opened her up and popped in a 500gb HDD and doing a clean install from disc. Then will start to transfer my data.

It's stuck, so I'm hoping that it soon becomes unstuck. It is however livable. I love this thing.

Ships in 5 working days. Possibly not Inc 16th.

Ordered mine on 14th from Apple but on finance, sent signed printed PDF back by post same day.
Order processed Tuesday. Ships in 5 working days after. Will take another 5 working days to deliver and there's a bank holiday in the way.

Ring up. They might offer you an accessory, I didn't moan really and they asked me if there was something I wanted like an accessory for free. I said a magic mouse. They said yes.

I didn't moan, just sounded a bit down that my order us classes as cto because I added a VGA adapter. Asked then if it was quicker to leave out the adapter.

Same here, ordered 17th (Saturday) and nothing yet.

It says 5-7 business days and today is technically the 5th so I can't really call complain for free stuff.

Man, I didn't get to this thread when i first got it, but my first Mac, bought on Sunday:

13" base 2.4 C2D, 4GB, 250GB HDD

It's awesome. I really love it!

I picked my 13" 2.4 GHz MBP up only 3 hours ago. My first mac ever and definitely not my last! I love this machine.

I finally got my hires glossy 15 i7

I installed a 160GB G2 intel and this thing flies.

Screen is awesome so far. No tint or dead pixels that I can see, although I will check later in a darker environment.

The resolution almost makes the 17 mbp unnecessary.

Loving it so far. Now I just need another bag.

Congrats! Just got my i5 HI RES Glossy as well and I am loving it. I too had to get a new bag because I was originally panning on getting a 13" but let's just say I was less than happy with the new upgrade. Anyways, if you are looking for I great bag for MBP I just ordered a Tom Bihn Brain Bag with a Brain Cell. It's a little on the expensive side but for all the research I did it seems to be the best bag with regards to comfort and protection for your MBP. Here's the link if you are interested:

Hey congratulations it looks great. Any chance you could post some more photos from different angles. I am soon to buy my frist MBP 15" and I am debating the whole High-res argument. I really like the look of the glossy with the black bezel it makes the whole design work. The anti glare also has its merrits but I am not so keen on the silver bezel. I have always liked the look of the standard glossy so I am still debating as I won't be buying until the back to school promo in about 8 weeks. Like I said this will be my first Mac ourchase coming from years of painful PC use and I want to get the one that will suit me fro the next 3-4years. Anyway have fun with the new purchase, good luck.

I just got the antiglare version, and I think it looks as good or better than the glossy version. Just decide based on your use case, as they both look nice, IMO.

the color quality on the antiglare is superb. definitely is worth it!!
